Refugees and Migrants in Greece: An Ethnographic Reflective Case Study.

Introduction: Greece has experienced a double challenge of being under austerity for the past decade and also facing an influx of refugees and migrants (R&Ms), mostly fleeing war zones. The purpose of this case study is to report on a shelter camp in Greece.

Method: An ethnographic case study technique was used.

Service provision for stroke: The Greek paradox.

Stroke remains a leading cause of mortality, as well as of subsequent serious long-term physical and mental morbidity. This places special demands for updated clinical excellence and optimum organization of stroke care services. Stroke units have been shown to improve patient outcomes.

Validation of international stroke scales for use by nurses in Greek settings.

Background: Improving stroke outcomes by educating nurses in state-of-the-art stroke nursing skills is essential, but unfortunately, to date, there are limited validated stroke assessment scales for routine clinical and research use in Greece.

Objective: The aim of this paper is to validate and culturally adapt three internationally recognised stroke scales for use in Greece.

Methods: A critical appraisal of the international literature was undertaken to identify suitable scales to assess stroke impact: neurological, functional status and level of dependence.

Validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the pressure ulcer prevention knowledge assessment instrument.

Study Aim: Sound knowledge of pressure ulcers is important to enable good prevention. There are limited instruments assessing pressure ulcer knowledge. The Pressure Ulcer Prevention Knowledge Assessment Instrument is among the scales of which psychometric properties have been studied rigorously and reflects the latest evidence.

Surrogacy: The experience of Greek commissioning women.

Background: Available studies on surrogacy are extremely limited. Findings suggest that surrogacy is experienced as problem free, with a significant number of commissioning mothers maintaining contact with the surrogates over time.

Aim: To explore the experiences of Greek commissioning women regarding the surrogacy arrangement and birth of a child through surrogacy.
