This study investigated how human dissection affects students' spiritual beliefs, and how their existing spiritual beliefs influence their perceptions of human dissection. This cross-sectional study assessed 760 medical students with human dissection experience using an online questionnaire developed from interviews and the Spirituality Orientation Inventory, including questions on dissection experience, spirituality, spiritual perceptions about dissection, and the impact of dissection on spirituality. Descriptive analysis and Chi-squared tests were used to determine proportions and relationships between variables, with statistical significance at p < 0.

This study examined the effectiveness of music storytelling communication intervention in promoting the acceptance of caesarean section (CS) among families in rural areas. The families were randomly assigned to control groups, music storytelling and non-music storytelling. The result showed that although the families reported a negative perception of CS at baseline and rejected it as a delivery option, this changed significantly after the intervention.

The dynamic and versatile group of enzymes referred to as glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) play diverse roles in cellular detoxification, safeguarding hosts from oxidative damage, and performing various other functions. This review explores different classes of GST, existence of polymorphisms in GST, functions of GST and utilizations of GST inhibitors in treatment of human diseases. The study indicates that the cytosolic GSTs, mitochondrial GSTs, microsomal GSTs, and bacterial proteins that provide resistance to Fosfomycin are the major classes.

Anticancer chemotherapy (ACT) remains a cornerstone in cancer treatment, despite significant advances in pharmacology over recent decades. However, its associated side effect toxicity continues to pose a major concern for both oncology clinicians and patients, significantly impacting treatment protocols and patient quality of life. Current clinical strategies to mitigate ACT-induced toxicity have proven largely unsatisfactory, leaving a critical unmet need to block toxicity mechanisms without diminishing ACT's therapeutic efficacy.

Background: Peer education has contributed to increased knowledge and preventive behaviors of adolescents toward reproductive health matters with the unique feature of maintaining peer-to-peer learning ability and sustaining intervention gains. This study examined the factors that predict the agency of in-school adolescents as peer educators on the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of adolescents.
Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 257 adolescent boys and girls, purposively selected from six public secondary schools that had received a package of interventions that aimed to improve peer-to-peer education on SRHR in Ebonyi State, Nigeria.

Coumarin dyes are used in dye-sensitized solar cells due to their fluorescent nature and solar stability. However, coumarin dyes exhibit limited absorption of light in the visible region, making it essential to improve their performance in dye-sensitized water-splitting solar cells. The current study uses computational chemistry methods to investigate the light absorption capacity of a coumarin dye by altering the chromophoric system and applying an electric field.

There is a myriad of diseases that plague the world ranging from infectious, cancer and other chronic diseases with varying interventions. However, the dynamism of causative agents of infectious diseases and incessant mutations accompanying other forms of chronic diseases like cancer, have worsened the treatment outcomes. These factors often lead to treatment failure via different drug resistance mechanisms.

Tissue ischemia, caused by the blockage of blood vessels, can result in substantial damage and impaired tissue performance. Information regarding the functional contribution of the complement system in the context of ischemia and angiogenesis is lacking. To investigate the influence of complement activation and depletion upon femoral artery ligation (FAL), Cobra venom factor (CVF) (that functionally resembles C3b, the activated form of complement component C3) was applied in mice in comparison to control mice.

Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+), a coenzyme, is ubiquitously distributed and serves crucial functions in diverse biological processes, encompassing redox reactions, energy metabolism, and cellular signalling. This review article explores the intricate realm of NAD + metabolism, with a particular emphasis on the complex relationship between its structure, function, and the pivotal enzyme, Nicotinate Nucleotide Adenylyltransferase (NNAT), also known as nicotinate mononucleotide adenylyltransferase (NaMNAT), in the process of its biosynthesis. Our findings indicate that NAD + biosynthesis in humans and bacteria occurs via the same de novo synthesis route and the pyridine ring salvage pathway.
