Introduction: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is diagnosed with high prevalence. Pulse oximetry and clinical examination are screening tools to aid in obtaining a CHD diagnosis.

Materials And Methods:  We conducted a retrospective longitudinal study over three years, screening 1188 newborns admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) during the first 72 hours of life.

Endometrial cancer is a complex disease influenced by both somatic and germline mutations. While individual mutations in genes such as , and members of the DNA mismatch repair (MMR) system have been extensively studied, comprehensive analyses comparing somatic and germline mutations within the same cohort are limited. This study compares these mutations using whole exome sequencing (WES) data from tumor and blood samples in patients with endometrial cancer.

Significant Clinical Associations Between Exposure Type Factors and Recurrent Wheezing and Asthma in Children.

The study aimed to identify certain factors related to family history, pathological conditions, or exposure-type that are significantly correlated with recurrent wheezing and/or asthma in children. One hundred nine children with recurrent wheezing and 44 children with asthma were studied in order to identify the degree of correlation of these conditions with familial history of asthma or atopy, child's age group, gender, premature birth, perinatal asphyxia, neonatal infection, and antibiotic treatment during the neonatal period, history of atopy and obesity and histamine intolerance, nasopharyngeal bacterial colonization, pneumonia with bronchospasm. The clinical picture of these two diseases was also compared regarding the severity of exacerbations and their response to controller therapy.

Hepatic artery reconstruction after extended resection for borderline resectable pancreatic head cancer: A case report.

Pancreatic head cancer is frequently associated with invasion of the surrounding vascular structures, such cases being considered for a long period of time as unresectable. Improvement of the vascular surgery techniques allowed association of extended vascular resections and reconstructions, increasing in this way the percentage of patients benefiting from radical surgery. We present the case of a 47-year-old male patient with no significant medical history diagnosed with a large pancreatic head tumor invading the common and proper hepatic artery as well as the portal vein.

Transapical Left Ventricular Approach for Cardiac Papillary Fibroelastomas: A Case Report.

Background/aim: Cardiac papillary fibroelastomas (CPF) are benign tumors, frequently asymptomatic, characterized by a mobile pedunculated mass that arises from the endocardium. When CPF is located in the left ventricle, it may protrude into the left ventricular outflow tract and affect hemodynamics. They are highly thrombogenic, and can also cause some life-threatening events such as cerebral and peripheral embolization.

Utility of indocyanine green injection in patients with cervical cancer besides the identification of sentinel lymph node (Review).

Due to the wide introduction of screening tests, patients with neoplastic diseases of the uterine cervix trend to be diagnosed in early stages of the disease, and less invasive surgical procedures are needed in certain cases. In this respect, the technique of sentinel lymph node dissection has been widely implemented as part of the therapeutic strategy, indocyanine green (ICG) being one of the most reliable markers for sentinel lymph node detection. However, it seems that this agent is extremely useful in order to achieve better short-term and long-term results after cervical cancer surgery, due to its capacity to determine the uterine vascular perfusion in cases in which conservative treatment, such as trachelectomy, is performed, as well as to prevent and treat lower limb lymphedema.

Debulking Surgery for Moderately Differentiated Neuroendocrine Gastric Carcinoma - A Case Report and Literature Review.

Synchronous Cervical Adenocarcinoma and Ovarian Serous Adenocarcinoma-A Case Report and Literature Review.

Synchronous gynecological malignancies are rarely encountered, and most often these cases are represented by synchronous ovarian and endometrial cancer. The aim of this paper is to present the case of a 53-year-old patient who was diagnosed with synchronous cervical and ovarian cancer. The patient had been initially investigated for vaginal bleeding and was submitted to a biopsy confirming the presence of a cervical adenocarcinoma.

Respiratory Outcome of the Former Premature Infants.

The research aims to identify the respiratory pathology during the first two years of life in premature infants with gestational ages between 30-34 weeks and the risk factors for these conditions (familial, prenatal, and neonatal). There were investigated 31 premature infants with gestational ages between 30-34 weeks and the incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia, infections with the respiratory syncytial virus, or other viral infections requiring hospitalization, recurrent wheezing, and nasal colonization with pathogenic bacteria were noted. Also, regression models for each type of respiratory pathology as a function of the antenatal (smoking in the family, atopy, mother's age) and neonatal (gestational age, respiratory distress syndrome, duration of the treatment with antibiotics, use of the reserve antibiotics) factors were elaborated.

Role of microRNAs as Clinical Cancer Biomarkers for Ovarian Cancer: A Short Overview.

Ovarian cancer has the highest mortality rate among gynecological cancers. Early clinical signs are missing and there is an urgent need to establish early diagnosis biomarkers. MicroRNAs are promising biomarkers in this respect.
