ACL Reconstruction Using Quadrupled Semitendinosus Versus Double-Stranded Semitendinosus and Gracilis Autograft: 2-Year Results From a Prospective Randomized Controlled Study.

Background: A disadvantage of using hamstring tendon autograft consisting of the semitendinosus and gracilis tendons for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is pain from tendon harvesting and persistent hamstring weakness. In the tendon-sparing all-inside technique, a quadrupled semitendinosus graft and adjustable-loop cortical fixation are suggested to give less postoperative flexion deficits while displaying overall similar clinical results to the traditional hamstring technique. However, there are a limited number of high-quality studies comparing these techniques with inconsistent results.

Purpose: We aimed to establish patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) reference data for a cohort of patients with prior patellar dislocation without previous knee surgery.

Methods: All inhabitants of the Faroe Islands aged 15-19 years were sent an online survey via secure email to establish a national cohort. They were asked to answer questions regarding demographics, whether they had prior patellar dislocation and to complete the PROMs: the Banff Patella Instability Instrument (BPII), Kujala, Marx activity and EQ-5D-5L questionnaires.

In total, 38 patients with cystic dorsal wrist tumours managed with surgical excision were prospectively followed up for 2 years. Tissue was examined histologically after primary surgery and at recurrence. Two distinct tissue types were found: ganglion cyst and synovial cyst.

Background: Reduced relative dose intensity (RDI) of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) in patients with breast cancer may compromise treatment outcome and survival. We examined patient-related characteristics associated with treatment modifications and suboptimal RDI and tumour response in patients with breast cancer.

Methods: In this observational study, electronic medical records were reviewed retrospectively for female patients with breast cancer scheduled for NACT at a university hospital in Denmark between 2017 and 2019.

Mid-term outcomes after single anastomosis sleeve ileal (SASI) bypass in treatment of morbid obesity.

Background: According to several short-term studies, single-anastomosis sleeve ileal (SASI) bypass offers similar weight loss to Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB) with fewer complication and better comorbidity reduction/resolution. Long-term data on this operation is lacking in the literature. The purpose of this study was to analyze the outcomes of SASI bypass up to 4 years.

Despite the positive effects of fasting on health, there are no guidelines or clear recommendations regarding fasting after metabolic/bariatric surgery (MBS). Several classification systems for PMF are currently in use, but the reliability of the Haraguchi classification is not reported. Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Reversal: A Novel Technique With Functional Reversal - Case Series.

Background: Reversal of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) to normal anatomy (NA) is mandated in selected cases. However, reversal operations are associated with high complication rates and long operative times. In this study, we present the functional reversal (FR) as a novel method and an alternative to reversal to NA in treating the otherwise intractable symptoms rarely occurring after RYGB.

Preventing hypothermia in outpatient plastic surgery by self-warming or forced-air-warming blanket: A randomised controlled trial.

Background: In our outpatient post anaesthesia unit patients reported that they were feeling cold with or without shivering. Anaesthetic agents cause reduced thermoregulation, initially by redistribution of blood flow from core to periphery, later by negative balance between thermogenesis and heat loss. Even mild peri-operative hypothermia increases the risk of surgical wound infections, bleeding, impaired cardiac function, shivering, and decreases comfort.

Background: In super-obese patients, rates of weight loss failure and weight regain are high after RYGB. In order to improve weight loss, lengthening of the biliopancreatic limb is vital. In this study, efficacy and safety of two types of RYGB with 2-m BP-limb were assessed in improving weight loss and in the resolution of comorbidities compared with standard RYGB in a long-term follow-up.
