Underrepresentation of Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma in Clinical Trials for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.

Background: Although chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) are the same biologic disease entity and warrant identical treatment approaches, patients with SLL have frequently been excluded from clinical trials in CLL.
Methods: This study assessed the representation of patients with SLL among Phase II or III clinical trials cited in the 2024 National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) treatment guidelines.
Results: Patients with SLL were explicitly eligible for only 21 (38%) of the 56 clinical trials for CLL, comprising 222 (6%) of the 3440 enrolled patients.

Background And Purpose: Despite the benefits of quality improvement (QI) training, there is a scarcity of information on QI teaching formats for undergraduate pharmacy education. The Evidence-based Practice for Improving Quality (EPIQ) workshop was evaluated as a teaching format for a group of multi-year undergraduate pharmacy students, assessing knowledge acquisition and learner reactions.
Educational Activity And Setting: Using a convergent mixed-method analysis, 10-item pre- and post-workshop multiple-choice questionnaires measured students' knowledge acquisition of foundational QI concepts.

Objectives: The effects of switching Canadians from other basal insulins to degludec (IDeg) in an outpatient setting are unknown. Our aim in this study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of switching insulin-treated adults with either type 1 (T1DM) or type 2 (T2DM) diabetes mellitus to IDeg.
Methods: This was a retrospective observational cohort study of Albertans who were switched to IDeg between December 1, 2018, and December 1, 2019, and followed until March 1, 2020.

Severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) can complicate novel pandemic coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Extracorporeal life support (ECLS) represents the final possible rescue strategy. Variations in practice, combined with a paucity of rigourous guidelines, may complicate blood-product resource availability and allocation during a pandemic.
