Background: Whether the timing of hospital presentation impacts care delivery and clinical outcomes for patients hospitalized for heart failure (HF) remains a matter of debate. In this study, we examined all-cause and HF-specific 30-day readmission rates for patients who were admitted for HF on a weekend vs admitted for HF on a weekday.
Methods And Results: We conducted a retrospective analysis using the 2010-2019 Nationwide Readmission Database to compare 30-day readmission rates among patients who were admitted for HF on a weekday (Monday to Friday) vs patients who were admitted for HF on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday).

Introduction: The quality of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is critical in increasing the probability of survival with a good neurologic outcome after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. In an austere environment with a potentially salvageable patient, bystanders or first responders may need to provide chest compressions for a prolonged duration or during physically challenging transportation scenarios. Consequently, they may be at risk of fatigue or injury, and chest compression quality may deteriorate.

This study evaluates the tolerability and efficacy of preoperative dorsal penile nerve block with Exparel plus bupivacaine hydrochloride in children>6 years old undergoing ambulatory urologic surgery. We demonstrate that the drug combination is well-tolerated, with appropriate analgesic efficacy in the recovery room as well as at 48-hour and 10-14 day follow-up periods. These preliminary data justify the need to perform a prospective, randomized trial comparing Exparel plus bupivacaine hydrochloride to other common local anesthetic regimens used in pediatric urologic surgery.

Background: The application of next-generation sequencing techniques has enabled characterization of urinary tract microbiome. Although many studies have demonstrated associations between the human microbiome and bladder cancer (BC), these have not always reported consistent results, thereby necessitating cross-study comparisons. Thus, the fundamental questions remain how we can utilize this knowledge.

Few studies have defined the incidence of and risk factors for influenza infection in pediatric solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients. We used a linkage between the Pediatric Health Information System and the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients databases to identify posttransplant influenza-associated hospital encounters (IAHEs) in pediatric SOT recipients of single-organ transplants. Among 7997 unique pediatric SOT recipients transplanted between January 01, 2006, and January 06, 2016, estimated 1- and 3-year posttransplant cumulative incidence rates of IAHEs were 2.
