HbA plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and is a valuable biomarker for evaluating glycemic control and predicting the risk of vascular complications. The study aimed to determine the biological variation (BV) for HbA and thereby contribute to analytical performance specifications, reference change values, and index of individuality. Fasting venous whole blood samples were collected from 38 presumably healthy subjects (20 females, 18 males) once a week for ten weeks, and analyzed in duplicate using the Roche Cobas c501 analyzer.

Comparison of Craniosacral Therapy and Myofascial Relaxation Techniques in People with Migraine Headache: A Randomized Controlled Study.

Objective: The primary objective of this study was to investigate the impact of myofascial release and craniosacral therapy on the quality of life, pain levels, and range of motion (ROM) in patients with chronic migraine headaches. Methods: Patients with chronic migraine in the Neurology Department of ALKU Hospital were randomly allocated to 3 therapy groups: (1) Craniosacral Treatment Craniosacral Techniques (CST) + Medical Treatment (MT) (CST group) ( = 24), (2) myofascial treatment (MFT) ( = 24) + MT (MFT group), and (3) MT (control group) only ( = 26).

The morphology of Pickering PolyHIPEs, with particular emphasis on methods for achieving interconnected structures, is explored and critically assessed.

Background: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are musculoskeletal and/or neuromuscular conditions that affect the muscles, joints and associated structures of the stomatognathic system.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the quality and reliability of publicly available English-language videos on YouTube about TMD exercises, and to examine the video sources and professional groups responsible for the creation of the videos.

Material And Methods: The quality and reliability of the YouTube videos related to TMD exercises were evaluated using the DISCERN score, the global quality scale (GQS) and the JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) score.

Background: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is expected to relieve pain and reduce the use of analgesics in patients with advanced knee osteoarthritis. However, in some cases, there is no relief in the pain of the patients and the use of analgesics continues. The aim of this study was to compare analgesic consumption one year before and after TKA in the same patient group and to evaluate whether there is a decrease in analgesic consumption after TKA.

This study investigated the impact of whey protein isolate (WPI) addition on the dry heat modification of corn (CS) and wheat starch (WS). Starches were treated under dry heating conditions at 130 °C for 2 and 4 h. The physicochemical and structural properties of the modified starches, such as color, particle size, thermal behavior (DSC), crystalline structure (XRD), and surface morphology (SEM), were analyzed.

The aim of this study was to compare the effects of Neuromuscular Integrative Action (NIA) and Pilates exercises on physical fitness and psychological effects in sedentary women. The groups were randomly divided into Pilates (n = 22) and NIA (n = 21) groups using the closed envelope method. 43 sedentary women aged 20-45 years were included in the study.

In this study, we investigated the effect of chitosan modification with tricine on transfection efficiency by preserving its ability to form complexes with plasmid DNA (pDNA) and increasing its hydrophilicity. The inherent limitations of chitosan, such as poor solubility at physiological pH, insufficient cellular uptake, and strong ionic interactions with pDNA, typically result in low transfection efficiency. To overcome these challenges, Tricine, a hydrophilic molecule containing a secondary amine group, was conjugated to chitosan.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to conduct a comparative analysis of the proportion of cardiovascular adverse events (AEs) associated with the utilization of memantine and cholinesterase inhibitors and to highlight the potential impact of sex differences in these AEs.

Methods: Cardiac and vascular disorders AEs with antidementia medications were obtained from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System database. The reporting odds ratio and its corresponding 95% confidence intervals were calculated.

The Contribution of the Renin-Angiotensin System to Alzheimer's Disease.

The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is becoming increasingly recognised as a biochemical pathway relevant to the development and progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). RAS involvement in AD was initially linked to AD via numerous genetic association studies and more recent Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), and in some cases in relation to classical hallmarks of AD pathology. Since these initial findings, which will be summarised here, several complementary areas of research are converging in support of what has been proposed as the Angiotensin Hypothesis for Alzheimer's disease.

The impact of Philosophy for Children (P4C) activities on enhancing the speaking skills of gifted students.

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of Philosophy for Children (P4C) activities integrated into Turkish lessons on the speaking skills of gifted students. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected through interviews and various scales, employing a mixed-method design. The results indicated that students had positive feelings about P4C, including appreciation, curiosity, surprise, excitement, self-confidence, and empathy.

Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the fabrication trueness and margin quality of AM and subtractively manufactured (SM) definitive resin-based laminate veneers.

Enhancing gene delivery efficiency with amphiphilic chitosan modified by myristic acid and tertiary amino groups.

The aim of this study is to synthesize new amphiphilic chitosan containing myristic acid as the hydrophobic tail and tertiary amine groups as the hydrophilic head and to evaluate the gene delivery efficiency. In this context, the primary amine groups of chitosan were first modified with myristic acid (Chi-M), followed by the modification of the methylol groups with 3-dimethylamino-1-propyl chloride hydrochloride. The chemical characterization of this chitosan formulation (Chi-MA) was determined using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis and gel permeation chromatography-size exclusion chromatography.

Pesticide residues in human diets pose significant health hazards, particularly for vulnerable populations such as infants and children. This study aimed to determine pesticide residues in apples and to assess the cumulatively chronic risk posed to adult and child consumers from simultaneous exposure to multiple residues. During the 2022-2023 harvest seasons, 100 apple samples from Turkey were analyzed for the presence of 225 different pesticide residues.

Some students may struggle to contribute actively to tasks and activities in English because they do not perceive themselves to be autonomous agents, feel engaged with the specific task, or are more generally academically demotivated. It is a critical goal of all English language teachers to assist these students in developing academic self-confidence and autonomy and in honing their spoken English.

Parietal memory network and memory encoding versus retrieval impairments in PD-MCI patients: A hippocampal volume and cortical thickness study.

Objective: The pathophysiology behind memory impairment in Parkinson's Disease Mild Cognitive Impairment (PD-MCI) is unclear. This study aims to investigate the hippocampal and cortical atrophy patterns in PD-MCI patients with different types of memory impairments, categorized as Retrieval Failure (RF) and Encoding Failure (EF).

Methods: The study included 16 healthy controls (HC) and 34 PD-MCI patients, divided into RF (N = 18) and EF (N = 16) groups based on their Verbal Memory Processes Test (VMPT) scores, including spontaneous recall, recognition, and Index of Sensitivity to Cueing (ISC).
