Given the significance of investigating ovarian reserve in infertile women, the limitations of existing diagnostic tests, and the absence of similar studies in this area, the present study aimed to examine the relationship between systemic inflammatory markers in patients with diminished ovarian reserve referred to the fertility clinic of Alzahra Hospital in Rasht in the year 2023. This cross-sectional analytical study was conducted on 174 patients referred to the Alzahra Hospital fertility clinic in Rasht. Patients were divided into two categories based on their serum levels of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH):AMH >1.

Despite the importance of finding replacements for fetal bovine serum (FBS), very few studies have focused on this subject. Historically, the use of animals and their derivatives in growth, reproduction, and physiological studies has raised several concerns. The supplementation of culture media with FBS, also known as fetal calf serum, continues to be widespread, despite its limitations in quality, reproducibility, and implications for animal welfare.

The dermatological manifestations of the coronavirus cause severe acute respiratory syndrome. The current study investigates the morphological and histopathological relationship between the emergence of skin lesions and the severity of COVID-19 across the course of the disease via a cross-sectional study. There were skin lesions (maculopapular rash, vesiculobullous lesions, urticarial lesions, cutaneous thromboembolic "CT," and erythema multiforme-like lesions "EM-like") in confirmed COVID-19 instances.

Purpose: The problem of image denoising in single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is a fundamental challenge. Although various image processing techniques have been presented, they may degrade the contrast of denoised images. The proposed idea in this study is to use a deep neural network as the denoising procedure during the iterative reconstruction process rather than the post-reconstruction phase.

Background: Bad news may be defined as "any information which adversely and seriously affects an individual's view of his or her future." It seems necessary for physicians to use a specific method to break the bad news to patients properly. Due to the importance of this skill and its effects on patient's hope and motivation to continue his treatment process, in this study, we evaluate the interns of Guilan University of Medical Sciences' attitude to breaking bad news (BBN) to the patients based on strategy for BBN, perception of condition or seriousness, invitation from the patient to give information, knowledge: giving medical facts, explore emotions, and sympathize (SPIKES) model in 2020-2022.

Objective: There is no definitive pharmacological strategy for COVID-19; thus, medicinal herbs can be an appropriate option for COVID-19 management. We investigated the efficacy of a D-reglis tablet (root extract of licorice) as adjuvant therapy in critically ill patients with COVID-19 at intensive care units (ICUs) of Alzahra Teaching Hospital affiliated with Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan, Iran.

Methods: In the present double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial, critically ill cases with COVID-19 ( = 52) received a D-reglis tablet (760 mg) or a placebo tablet for 5 days.

Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL), often known as spontaneous miscarriages occurring two or more times in a row, is a reproductive disease that affects certain couples. The cause of RPL is unknown in many cases, leading to difficulties in therapy and increased psychological suffering in couples. Toll-like receptors (TLR) have been identified as crucial regulators of inflammation in various human tissues.

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a neurological disease characterized by a variety of neurological findings, in accordance with radiological characteristics. PRES is commonly secondary to elevated BP and/or conditions such as autoimmune patients receiving immunosuppressive drugs. Our case involves a 36-year-old female with a history of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), who presented with sudden onset headaches from 3 weeks prior, and a single episode of seizure attack the morning before admission.

Designing a core data set for benign hysterectomy registration system and its implementation in a referral teaching hospital in Northwest Iran.

BMC Pregnancy Childbirth

July 2024

Department of Health Information Technology, School of Management and Medical Informatics, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Daneshgah St, Tabriz, 5165665811, Iran.

Background And Aims: Although minimally invasive hysterectomy offers advantages, abdominal hysterectomy remains the predominant surgical method. Creating a standardized dataset and establishing a hysterectomy registry system present opportunities for early interventions in reducing volume and selecting benign hysterectomy methods. This research aims to develop a dataset for designing benign hysterectomy registration system.

Linc00513 sponges miR-7 to modulate TGF-β signaling in azoospermia.

Eur J Transl Myol

July 2024

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, School of Medicine, Rooyesh Infertility Center, Birjand University of Medical Sciences, Birjand.

Azoospermia, or the complete absence of sperm in the ejaculate, affects about 1% of men worldwide and is a significant fertility challenge. This study investigates Linc00513, a long non-coding RNA, and its potential role in regulating the TGF-β signaling pathway, a key player in spermatogenesis, in the context of azoospermia. We show that Linc00513 expression is significantly lower in testicular tissues from azoospermic patients than in HS1 controls.

  • - This study presents a Delphi consensus from seven Iranian infertility experts focusing on the role of luteinizing hormone (LH) in assisted reproductive technology (ART), aiming to fill a gap in regional consensus documents related to LH supplementation.
  • - The consensus process involved three steps: an initial approval of eight statements, a vote by a 20-member panel, and a revision of one statement that initially lacked agreement, which then achieved an 83% consensus after modification.
  • - The findings emphasize the importance of incorporating expert clinical perspectives into guidelines, particularly to enhance treatment outcomes for patients with deficiencies in follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and LH.
