A Critical Ethnographic Study of Families of Brain-Dead Patients: Their Experiences and Attitudes to Organ Donation.

Background: Despite the difficulty of making decisions providing facilitating mediators and removing barriers to making decisions about choosing the right path to donate the organs of brain-dead patients by families can assist in improving the services and help the lives of fellow human beings. This study aimed to explain the decision-making mediator for organ donation in families with brain-dead patients in a cultural context.

Materials And Methods: This qualitative study with a critical ethnographic approach was conducted based on Carspecken's stages from August 2021 to March 2022.

Investigating the Relationship between the Attitude Towards Infertility and Stress Coping Strategies among Couples undergoing Assisted Reproduction Treatment.

Introduction: Infertility and its treatment methods among couples have psychological and social consequences. To encounter these consequences, coping strategies are commonly used, which are influenced by various factors, such as the attitude of couples toward infertility.

Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between attitudes toward infertility and stress-coping strategies among couples undergoing Assisted Reproduction Treatment, referring to the infertility clinic of Al-Zahra Educational Center.

Agenesis of the right external iliac artery in a 23-year-old woman with left leg ischemia.

External iliac agenesis is an uncommon congenital issue characterized by the absence or incomplete development of the external iliac artery, a significant blood vessel supplying the lower limbs, potentially causing symptoms like pain, weakness, ischemia, and numbness. We are currently discussing a case of a 23-year-old woman who complained of pain in her left lower limb. A thorough work-up was conducted to rule out ischemia, and during the diagnostic process, a CT scan revealed the complete absence of the right external iliac artery.

Citicoline on the Barthel Index: Severe and moderate brain injury.

Introduction: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a paramount factor in mortality and morbidity. The clinical trials conducted to investigate the efficacy of neuroprotective agents, such as citicoline, as a therapeutic alternative for TBI have presented divergent findings. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate and compare citicoline's effect on the Barthel Index in patients with severe and moderate brain injury.

Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Validation of the Persian Version of the Harris Hip Score.

Background: The Persian language, also known as Farsi, is a pluricentric language spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan by about 140 million people. This study aims to translate the Harris hip score (HHS) into Persian with cross-cultural adaptation and to evaluate its validity and reliability.

Methods: One hundred fifty-six total hip arthroplasty patients completed the Persian version of the HHS, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index, Forgotten Joint Score, and visual analog scale (VAS) for pain and satisfaction postoperatively.

Background: Majority of adnexal masses are incidental findings during pregnancy and resolve spontaneously. They may complicate pregnancy due to haemorrhage, cyst rupture and ovarian torsion. The impact of body mass index changes on traumatic brain injury patients' outcomes during hospitalization.

Purpose: Obesity is a complex multifactorial disease with increasing prevalence worldwide. The present study was conducted, since there were different results on the effect of obesity on the prognosis of patients with moderate and severe brain trauma, and the issue was less investigated.

Methods: The present descriptive-analytical study was conducted in 2 hospitals, Al-Zahra and Kashani in year 2022.

A Case of Pneumoperitoneum after Colonoscopy without Frank Perforation.

Benign pneumoperitoneum can happen after colonoscopy, which shows itself as free air in the abdomen without symptoms or pneumoperitoneum without peritonitis. In this case, we reported a rare case of an elderly man who had acute abdominal stiffness after colonoscopy and observation of free air under the diaphragm that no perforation was observed in the intestine during laparoscopy and only one tiny intestinal tumor was randomly reported. There is no consensus on the treatment of pneumoperitoneum after colonoscopy.

Multiple Hydatid Cysts in Rare Locations Treated with Albendazole: A Case Report.

Hydatid cyst is a common disease between humans and animals. Foods that are contaminated with eggs of echinococcal species are the cause of hydatid disease. Although this parasite affects different organs, the liver and lungs are very susceptible but the cardiac hydatid disease is very rare.

Detection of Opportunistic Fungi from the Bronchoalveolar Lavage Specimens of Patients with Pulmonary Diseases.

Background: Opportunistic fungi are a constantly evolving group of pathogens that become active when the immune system is compromised, begin to multiply, and soon overwhelm the weakened immune system. This study was performed to evaluate the number of opportunistic fungi in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) samples of patients with pulmonary diseases.

Materials And Methods: After receiving patients' consent and demographic forms, a total of 120 BAL samples were taken by a pulmonary physician.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the clinical feasibility of a novel multi-layered small-diameter vascular graft that has a hierarchical structure. Vascular grafts with elaborately designed composition and architecture were prepared by 3D printing and electrospinning and were implanted into the femoral artery of 5 dogs.

Background: Postpartum hemorrhage, anemia, and iron deficiency are important health problems. Using safe, cheap, and available methods to reduce the amount of hemorrhage after childbirth can be effective for the mother's health during this period. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effect of date fruit consumption on the amount of hemorrhage after natural childbirth.

Effect of acupressure on pain among older female patients undergoing extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy: A randomized controlled clinical trial.

Background And Aim: Urinary stones are highly prevalent among older people. Extracorporeal lithotripsy is one of the commonly used treatment methods, but it causes pain. Acupressure is a non-pharmacological therapeutic method that is effective in relieving pain among patients with various health conditions.

Nutritional vitamin D supplementation in chronic hemodialysis: An uncontrolled open-label trial.

The present study was evaluated by the incidence of vitamin D deficiency and management of hemodialysis (HD) patients with low doses of vitamin D over 6 months. This uncontrolled open-label trial was fulfilled in descriptive and then analytical phases from 2008 to 2010 recruiting chronic HD patients in our province. For this purpose, 169 patients undergoing regular HD were randomly selected and their vitamin D level was measured.

Comparing preemptive injection of peri-articular-multimodal drug with oral celexocib for postoperative pain management in total knee arthroplasty: A randomized clinical trial.

Background: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is associated with tremendous postoperative pain, and pain relief should concisely be considered. This study aims to compare the efficacy of preemptive periarticular multimodal drug injection versus placebo and oral celecoxib on postoperative pain control after TKA.

Materials And Methods: This study is a randomized clinical trial on 146 patients candidate for TKA who were randomly allocated to three treatment groups, including (1) a cocktail consisting of bupivacaine, morphine, epinephrine, and ketorolac ( = 48), (2) only epinephrine (placebo group) ( = 49), and (3) 400 mg celecoxib orally (control group) ( = 49) using the Random Allocation software.

Background: Chorionic villus sampling (CVS) is one of the invasive diagnostic methods used to diagnose chromosomal, genetic, and metabolic diseases in the embryonic period. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the incidence of these consequences and the factors affecting the incidence of abortion.

Does Significant Weight Loss After Bariatric Surgery Affect Sexual Function and Urinary Symptoms? An Iranian Study.

Introduction: For sexual dysfunction and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), obesity is identified as an independent risk factor. The current study aimed to evaluate the effect of significant rapid weight loss by bariatric surgery on LUTS and sexual function among men and women with class III obesity.

Method: A group of patients who were planned to undergo bariatric surgery was enrolled in the study.

Near Two Decades of the Family Physician Program in Iran and the Structural Challenges: A Systematic Review.

The family physician program (FPP) is one of the most significant health care reforms in Iran; however, many studies showed that this program has not been able to achieve its intended objectives because of a variety of challenges. This program, despite the existing challenges, is going to be expanded across the country. To improve the likelihood of its success, identification of the structural and infrastructural challenges is necessary.

The effect of vestibular rehabilitation in Meniere's disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical trials.

Background: Meniere's disease (MD) is a complex disease that can severely affect the quality of life. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we aimed to investigate the effect of vestibular rehabilitation (VR) versus control/other interventions on the quality of life in patients with MD.

Methods: We searched six electronic databases (PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, EMBASE, Scopus, ProQuest, CENTRAL) from inception to September 30, 2022 with no language restriction for publications comparing the effect of VR with control/ other interventions in patients with MD.
