Methods: This pragmatic trial was conducted on 126 adolescent boys with overweight.

Introduction: Inflammation plays a role in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pathophysiology and anti-inflammatory drugs may help reduce the disease severity. Levamisole is an anthelmintic drug with immunomodulatory and possible antiviral effects. This study aimed to evaluate the role of levamisole in the treatment of patients with COVID-19.

Hypereosinophilic Syndrome Complicated by Eosinophilic Myocarditis: Embolic Stroke or Eosinophilic Stroke? A Case Report.

Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) is traditionally described as chronic peripheral eosinophilia with involvement of various organs and systems, including the heart and nervous system. In this report, we describe cardiac involvement and border zone stroke in a patient with idiopathic HES. A 37-year-old woman presented with sudden right-sided weakness and slurred speech, which began four days before admission, accompanied by palpitations, retrosternal exertional chest discomfort, dry cough, and progressive shortness of breath over approximately two months.

Evaluation of the effectiveness of medroxyprogesterone on blood gases and short-term hospital outcomes in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease treating with noninvasive ventilation: A randomized clinical trial.

Background: In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the effects of medroxyprogesterone on hospital short clinical outcomes and ABG parameters in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbation under treatments with noninvasive ventilation (NIV) treated with progesterone 15 mg in comparison with placebo.

Materials And Methods: This is a double-blinded clinical trial that was performed in 2020-2021 in Isfahan, Iran, on 60 patients with COPD exacerbation that require NIV. All patients received short-acting beta-agonists, short-acting anticholinergics, systemic corticosteroids, and NIV.

Methods: This case-control study encompassed 192 women who experienced SA and 347 control participants.

Considering the relatively high frequency of genetic disorders associated with negative pregnancy outcomes, in this research, adverse pregnancy outcomes in amniocentesis patients were compared between two groups with normal and abnormal maternal serum analytes. This retrospective cohort study was conducted on singleton pregnant women who underwent amniocentesis and had fetuses with normal chromosomes at the perinatology clinic in Rasht. Eligible patients were divided into two groups of 307 people with normal and abnormal maternal serum analytes based on laboratory screening results.

Tonsillectomy May Not Be the Answer in All OSA Cases.

Tonsillectomy is considered the standard of care in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and large tonsils; however, there are selected cases where this procedure should not be considered. We present two patients with tonsil grade 4 and severe OSA where tonsillectomy was not the solution for their problem and could be a superfluous procedure. In our experience, a preoperatory drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) and proper patient phenotyping will prevent this type of surgical failure.
