The Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue Measure: Cross-Cultural Validation of an Arabic Version for Older Jordanians.

Background: Numerous national and international nursing research studies have used the 13-item Chronic Illness Therapy Functional Assessment Chronic Illness Therapy (fatigue) (FACIT-F) scale to measure the level of self-reported fatigue among the elderly population. Nonetheless, a culturally adapted Arabic version of the scale of the same quality was required to boost its use in Arabic-speaking nations. This study cross-culturally validated the Arabic version of the FACIT-F scale and tested its validity and reliability in an Arabic-speaking population.

Aspirin plus clopidogrel versus cilostazol -based triple antiplatelet therapy in patients with ischemic heart disease undergoing PCI: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Introduction: Cilostazol has been widely used to prevent peripheral vascular events after PCI. However, guidelines in cilostazol-based triple antiplatelet therapy for patients with ischemic heart disease undergoing PCI remain unclear. The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of DAPT (aspirin and clopidogrel) compared to cilostazol -based TAPT (aspirin, clopidogrel and cilostazol).

Introduction: Non-cancer deaths are now becoming a significant threat to the health of cancer patients. Death from stomach and duodenal ulcer is linked to cancer due to the side effects of treatment and its pathogenesis. However, guidelines for identifying cancer patients at the highest risk of death from stomach and duodenal ulcer remain unclear.

Mid-trimester spontaneous rupture of a bicornuate uterus: A case report.

Bicornuate uterus (BU) is a rare congenital anomaly that may present with various obstetric complications, and very rarely may be a risk factor for uterine rupture, even of an unscarred uterus. A 21-year-old primigravida woman, at 19 weeks and 5 days of gestation, presented with severe abdominal pain and features of hypovolemic shock. Urgent laparotomy showed a large hemoperitoneum, a ruptured left horn of a BU and a dead fetus in the abdominal cavity.

Tracking hepcidin level in induced type 2 diabetic rats and how Empagliflozin affects its level.

Background: Hepcidin is a hormone that contributes to iron homeostasis, produced either through hepatic or extrahepatic pathways. Its production may be affected by proinflammatory mediators released by macrophages, which play a role in the development of peripheral insulin resistance. Insulin itself may increase the production of hepcidin hormone from pancreatic β-cells.

A rare case of pycnodysostosis during pregnancy.

We describe a case in which a 41-year-old pregnant female with pycnodysostosis presented for elective cesarean section at week 37 + 5 of pregnancy. This is the first reported case of pycnodysostosis during pregnancy in Oman, to the author's best knowledge.

Short Term Effect of Corona Virus Diseases Vaccine on the Menstrual Cycles.

Background: The latest threat to world health is coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), and the exact death rate of SARS-CoV-2 infection is still to be explored and varies widely throughout the world. Inactivated virus vaccines, recombinant viral vaccines, subunit vaccines, DNA vaccines, and attenuated vaccinations have all been investigated in the hunt for an optimal SARS-CoV vaccine. Some women had menstrual abnormalities after immunisation, including heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), frequent bleeding (metrorrhagia/polymenorrhea), and postmenopausal haemorrhage.

Smart Nanoformulation Based on Polymeric Magnetic Nanoparticles and Vincristine Drug: A Novel Therapy for Apoptotic Gene Expression in Tumors.

Background: Advanced nanobiotechnology provides safe and efficient drug delivery systems to deliver chemotherapy that targets cancer cells efficiently.

Methods: A polymeric-magnetic nanocarrier was composed of a dextran (DEX) shell, a superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPION) core and was conjugated with folate (FA) to carry the anticancer drug vincristine (VNC) in Tera-1 testicular tumor cells. The molecular mechanisms by which apoptosis was induced were analyzed using flow cytometry and qPCR, which exhibited anticancer activity of nanoparticles (NPs).

Fecal carriage of ESBL-producing in Egyptian patients admitted to the Medical Research Institute hospital, Alexandria University.

Commensal ESBL-producing represent a reservoir for resistance genes therefore, their detection is crucial to restrain the spread of beta-lactam resistance. Hence, the aim of the present study was phenotypic and genotypic characterization of commensal ESBL-producing obtained from the stool of patients at the time of admission and at the time of discharge from the Medical Research Institute hospital. A total of 70 isolates were collected from 35 patients and were categorized into Group A (samples obtained on admission) and Group B (samples obtained at the time of discharge).

A case-based learning exercise to increase students' understanding of the pharmacist's role in public health interventions for individual patients.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether a public health (PH) micro-level case-based learning exercise increased pharmacy students' self-perceived understanding and confidence in their role as PH pharmacists.

Methods: Three PH micro-level case-based learning exercises in community pharmacy settings were developed and integrated into the third professional year PH course. Students enrolled in the PH course from January 2012 - May 2015 completed a pre- and post-activity survey consisting of 22 statements with Likert scale responses.

Low oxytocin and melatonin levels and their possible role in the diagnosis and prognosis in Iraqi autistic children.

Urinary tract infections and antimicrobial sensitivity among diabetic patients at Khartoum, Sudan.

Background: Patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) are more susceptible to urinary tract infection (UTI) than non-diabetics. Due to the emergence of multidrug resistant (MDR) uropathogenic strains, the choice of antimicrobial agent is restricted. This study investigated the epidemiology of UTI, antimicrobial susceptibility, and resistance patterns of bacterial isolates from adult diabetic patients.

Optical coherence tomography in the assessment of suspicious oral lesions: an immediate ex vivo study.

Background: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an evolving optical technology that is capable of delivering real-time, high-resolution signatures of tissue.

Objectives: The purpose of this immediate ex vivo prospective clinical study was: (1) to assess the sensitivity and specificity of OCT on biopsy material in identifying potentially malignant and malignant oral lesions, (2) to determine the inter-observer agreement in the analysis of specific image parameters, and (3) to find out the oral epithelial thickness for different pathology groups.

Materials And Methods: This prospective study involved 125 suspicious oral lesions from 125 patients.

Skeletal and dental relapses after skeletal class III deformity correction surgery: single-jaw versus double-jaw procedures.

Objective: In this prospective comparative study, we looked at the postoperative dental and skeletal relapses in patients undergoing orthognathic surgery for skeletal class III deformity. The surgical interventions were single-jaw versus double-jaw procedures.

Study Design: Twenty-four adult patients with skeletal class III deformity presented with functional and esthetic problems.

Critically ill surgical patients are always at increased risk of actual or potentially life-threatening health complications. Central/peripheral venous lines form a key part of their care. We review the current evidence on incidence of central and peripheral venous catheter-related bloodstream infections in critically ill surgical patients, and outline pathways for prevention and intervention.

Solitary giant neurofibroma of the neck subjected to photodynamic therapy: case study.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) - the fourth modality - has been successfully used in the management of early and advanced pathologies of the head and neck. We studied the effect of this modality on a giant solitary neurofibroma of the neck. A 70-year-old Caucasian female presented with left neck pain and disfigurement associated with slight shortness of breath and dysphagia.
