Unlabelled: Existing disparities in the perception of scars between patients and practitioners can translate into undesirable physical and psychological outcomes. An understanding of the determinants of surgeons' perceptions on the importance of scar cosmesis is a first step toward bridging this gap.
Methods: In an online survey, surgeons were asked about the extent to which various patient and technical factors affect the importance of scar cosmesis.

Introduction: Tibiotalar arthrodeses performed after failed ankle arthroplasties are known to be complex procedures with often disappointing functional outcomes. This study reports the results of a revision technique using a posterior iliac crest autograft.
Hypotheses: We hypothesized that: (1) revision tibiotalar arthrodeses (RTTAs) had functional outcomes which were similar to those of a reference cohort of primary tibiotalar arthrodeses (TTAs) and that (2) the union rate was satisfactory.

Tibial plafond fractures are often associated with significant articular cartilage and soft tissue damage. The presence of co-morbidities has been associated with an increased risk of surgical site complications. With improved in surgical techniques and implants, complication rates have declined; however, the overall prognosis often remains poor.

Objectives: Spinal fractures are a public health issue with high morbidity and mortality, and significant social and economic impact. The burden of disease can be minimized through effective management and preventive strategies based on basic epidemiological figures. Therefore, this study aimed to establish the epidemiological figures for traumatic injuries of the spine, including prevalence and associated risk factors in Kuwait, one of the high-income countries in the Middle East region.

Jones type fifth metatarsal fracture is a common occurrence among athletes at all levels. These fractures may occur due to several mechanisms, but inversions and twisting injuries are considered some of the leading causes in sports. However, while Jones fracture incidences are frequent in the sporting world, there is still a lack of consensus on how such fractures should be effectively managed.

Background: We modified the original technique for percutaneous transphyseal screw which was described in 1998 by Metaizeau and colleagues for distal femoral coronal angular deformity correction; the modification is related to the screw direction, whereas the screw is administered in a retrograde pattern, starting from the epiphysis and directed toward the metaphysis. This technique opposes the original technique that was started with a metaphyseal entry point which aimed toward the epiphysis. This study evaluates the efficacy of the newly suggested surgical technique regarding the rate of correction and growth resumption after screw removal.

Introduction: Prevention strategies are critical to reduce infection rates in joint arthroplasty. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a set of evidence-based practices to reduce surgical site infection (SSI) rates after knee and hip arthroplasty (HPRO & KPRO).
Methods: A quasi-experimental study design (comparing pre- and post-intervention phases) was applied.

Background: Preoperative radiographic assessment of osteophyte and loose body locations is critical in planning an arthroscopic débridement for primary elbow osteoarthritis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of radiographs and computed tomography (CT) in localizing osteophytes and loose bodies.
Methods: A consecutive series of 36 patients with primary elbow osteoarthritis was investigated with radiographs and multiaxial 2-dimensional CT prior to elbow arthroscopy.
Introduction: Shoulder pain is a major disorder of the musculoskeletal system. To the best of our knowledge, there is no documentation of an Arabic version of the shoulder disability and pain measurements. Constant Murley Score (CMS) is one of the standard questionnaires for clinical practice and research.

Background: Mulligan's mobilization with movement (MWM) aims to enhance the kinematics of the joint. Kinematic impairment of the knee joint is significant following total knee arthroplasty (TKA), which could be managed with Mulligan's MWM. This article describes the study protocol for a single-blind randomized controlled trial investigating the effectiveness of Mulligan's MWM following TKA.

Purpose: To compare the outcomes of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with those of combined ACL and anterolateral ligament (ALL) reconstruction in ACL-deficient knees. The objective of this study was to improve knowledge regarding the treatment of ACL-deficient knees with combined ACL and ALL reconstruction. Combined ACL and ALL reconstruction has been hypothesized to result in better clinical and functional outcomes than isolated ACL reconstruction (ACLR).

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a popular non-invasive therapeutic modality in the medical field for the treatment of numerous musculoskeletal disorders. This technique first emerged around the 1980s as extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy and has been studied since then for its application towards orthopedics and traumatology. ESWT works by the emission of acoustic waves (shockwaves) that carry energy and can propagate through tissues.

Aims: Infected and deformed neuropathic feet and ankles are serious challenges for surgical management. In this study we present our experience in performing ankle arthrodesis in a closed manner, without surgical preparation of the joint surfaces by cartilaginous debridement, but instead using an Ilizarov ring fixator (IRF) for deformity correction and facilitating fusion, in arthritic neuropathic ankles with associated osteomyelitis.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all the patients who underwent closed ankle arthrodesis (CAA) in Ilizarov Scientific Centre from 2013 to 2018 (Group A) and compared them with a similar group of patients (Group B) who underwent open ankle arthrodesis (OAA).

Introduction: Joint hypermobility syndrome (JHS) symptoms of widespread joint hypermobility and pain, muscle weakness and reduced muscle-tendon stiffness suggest that there may be an impact on gait parameters. Identification of gait abnormalities may inform assessment and management. The objective in the present study was to use a cross-sectional designed study to explore the impact of JHS on gait parameters.
