Corneal neovascularization is a determinant of corneal graft survival and preservation of immune privilege after keratoplasty. We report the outcomes in 2 patients with failed corneal grafts who underwent mitomycin C (MMC) intravascular chemoembolization (MICE) in the affected eye. A 30-year-old woman with failed penetrating keratoplasty (PK) in the right eye was started on prednisolone acetate eyedrops.

Glomus tumor (glomus cell tumor) is a rare, often benign neoplasm, which is, in most cases, seen as a solitary bluish nodule involving the nail beds. Solid glomus tumor, glomangioma, and glomangiomyoma are the three main histopathological variants. Case Series Purpose: Iris cysts are uncommon lesions, most of them are iris pigment epithelial (IPE) cysts which typically manifest in adults as unilateral single cysts, are typically asymptomatic and rarely require treatment. The most frequent location of IPE cysts is the iris periphery and the iridociliary sulcus, whereas pupillary cysts are rare. This observational case series aims to describe a unique occurrence of bilateral pupillary IPE cysts in three consecutive generations of a single family.

Background: We would assess the efficacy of intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide IVTA combined with standard phacoemulsification on the central subfield macular thickness (CSMT), the progression of diabetic retinopathy (DR), and the corrected distant visual acuity (CDVA) in type 2 diabetic patients.
Methods: In this prospective single-blinded randomized clinical trial we recruited patients with type 2 diabetes who were eligible for cataract surgery. The patients were randomly assigned to two groups.

Approximately 5-12% of COVID-19 patients require admission to the intensive-care unit (ICU), where they often require oxygen therapy and prolonged intubation. Post-intubation laryngotracheal stenosis (PILS) is a complication that occurs in 10-22% of non-COVID-19 patients after prolonged intubation, while the rate of COVID-19 related PILS remains unknown.

Background: The association of acute pancreatitis (AP) with viral hepatitis is well known, and is usually attributed to HAV, HBV, or HCV. AP related to acute hepatitis E (AHE) has been rarely described, and the typical profile is that of a young male, residing in an endemic area, presenting with mild to moderate pancreatitis, and improving with conservative management.
Rationale: An increasing number of reports describe AP associated with AHE.

Objectives: To describe the epidemiologic characteristics, clinical features, and outcome of severe cases of 2009 H1N1 influenza A infections who were admitted to the intensive care units (ICUs) in Damascus, Syria.
Materials And Methods: Retrospectively, we collected clinical data on all patients who were admitted to the ICU with confirmed or suspected diagnosis of severe 2009 H1N1 influenza A with respiratory failure at 4 major tertiary care hospitals in Damascus, Syria. Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II system was used to assess the severity of illness within the first 24 h after admission.

The aim of this study is to report our experience in the use of vascular clipping system (VCS) in kidney transplantation (KT), and to discuss its potential clinical benefits for the patients compared with the traditional anastomosis method (suture method). Between October 1985 and December 2000, 350 cases of KT from living related donors (LRD) were performed in the Kidney Transplantation Unit at the Al-Mouassat University Hospital in Damascus, Syria. Between October 1999 and December 2000, 30 cases (21 males and 9 females) of KT were performed using VCS.
