Article Synopsis
  • - The study evaluated the presence of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus (MRS) on the skin and in the nasal cavities of healthcare workers (HCWs), finding a significant number were carriers of these resistant bacteria, particularly MRSA among male HCWs and MRSE among nurses.
  • - Swab samples collected from HCWs were cultured to identify MRS and assess their susceptibility to antibiotics, showing a high incidence of methicillin resistance particularly in doctors and nurses.
  • - The findings indicated the need for improved preventive measures against the spread of these infections in hospitals, with vancomycin suggested as a highly effective treatment for MRSA and MRSE infections.

Introduction: Post-intubation tracheal rupture (PiTR) is an extremely uncommon disorder. Pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum, hemorrhage, cutaneous emphysema, and sepsis are common clinical presentations that eventually result in organ failure and mediastinitis. Endoscopy and computed tomography (CT) are considered the gold standards for assessment and diagnosis.

Background: Patients suffering from multidrug/rifampicin resistant tuberculosis (MDR/RR-TB) are treated for prolonged periods with a complex regimen comprised of relatively less effective and more toxic anti-TB drugs, consequently resulting in high incidence of adverse events (AEs).

Study Aim: The current study evaluates the incidence, types, management and predictors of AEs, and their impact on treatment outcomes in MDR/RR-TB patients receiving all oral treatment regimens.

Study Design: A total of 242 eligible MDR/RR-TB patients treated at two different study sites from June 2019 to December 2021 were included in this study.

Article Synopsis
  • - Gastric outlet obstruction (GOO) is a serious condition that can affect quality of life, and duodenal stenting (DS) is a common treatment, although it has a high chance of stent blockage.
  • - The study reviewed data from 10 studies involving 1275 GOO patients and found that endoscopic ultrasound-guided gastroenterostomy (EUS-GE) had better clinical success, fewer re-interventions, and lower adverse event risks compared to DS.
  • - While EUS-GE required a longer procedural time, its overall effectiveness suggests it might be a safer option for GOO management, indicating the need for more comprehensive research to confirm these findings.

Osmotic stress is one of the main destructive abiotic factors that hinder plant growth and development. In this research, the role of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) in mitigating the negative impact of osmotic stress on in vitro grown Chenopodium quinoa (Quinoa 6 Line; Q6) was investigated to determine whether Ag NPs were able to reduce the negative effects on the in vitro grown cultures of the Q6 line. The explants were subcultured onto a special osmostressing media containing sucrose, sorbitol, or mannitol at different levels (0.
