The Wadi Hanifah, a crucial aquatic ecosystem, has unfavorable consequences from natural occurrences and human activities. Recognizing the critical need for sustainable water management, this study provides an in-depth evaluation of wadi water quality. A comprehensive assessment was conducted, analyzing physical properties (temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, turbidity, color, and odor), chemical constituents (nitrogen compounds, ion concentrations, heavy metals), and bacterial diversity.

Landfill site selection is an essential aspect of sustainable solid waste management as it ensures that the waste generated by a community or region is disposed of in an environmentally friendly and safe manner. The approach for selecting landfill sites seeks to choose locations that provide the least risk to the environment and public health while still satisfying the demands of the local community. This research aims to use a multi-criteria assessment to determine a landfill location in Al-Balqa Governorate in Jordan to ensure that the chosen site meets the needs of all stakeholders while minimizing the negative impact on the environment and the community.

Osteosarcoma(OS) is a highly aggressive bone cancer for which treatment has remained essentially unchanged for decades. Although OS is characterized by extensive genomic heterogeneity and instability, RB1 and TP53 have been shown to be the most commonly inactivated tumor suppressors in OS. We previously generated a mouse model with a double knockout (DKO) of Rb1 and Trp53 within cells of the osteoblastic lineage, which largely recapitulates human OS with nearly complete penetrance.

In this work, Fabrication, and characterization of Cu-doped ZnO thin films deposited on porous silicon (PSi) substrates have been reported using electrochemical deposition (ECD) technique. The influence of Cu-doping concentrations on morphology, structure, and electrical characteristics of zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films were presented. X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) has been used to characterize the lattice constants, average size, in-plane (along a-axis) and out of plane (along c-axis) strains for the Cu-ZnO crystals.

In the current work, computational methods were used to investigate new isoxazole derivatives that could be used as tubulin inhibitors. The study aims to develop a reliable quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) model, following the criteria set by Golbraikh, Tropsha, and Roy. As a result, seven candidate compounds were developed, all having higher activity than the well-established anticancer agent Cisplatin (Cisp).

Purpose: Although the co-occurrence of interstitial cystitis (IC) and endometriosis (ENDO) is remarkably high, the exact pathophysiology for this co-occurrence is unknown. The convergence of the inputs from the involved structures to the same neuronal centers may suggest neuronal hyperexcitability as a mechanism for this co-occurrence.
Methods: The present study aimed to investigate the association between IC and ENDO, by studying the changes in brainstem responses to cystometry in a rat model of ENDO and cyclophosphamide (CYP)-induced IC using c-fos immunohistochemistry.
A new series of redox-active tetraryl-substituted pentacenedione derivatives, namely Ar4-PDs, was prepared through Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions between a bis(dibromomethane)pentacenedione and various arene boronic acids. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and density functional theory (DFT) calculations have confirmed that these Ar4-PDs possess highly twisted conformations due to the significant steric encumbrance between the Ar substituents and the anthraquinodimethane moiety. Cyclic voltammetric analysis revealed that the nature of the Ar group critically influences the redox properties of Ar4-PDs.

Background: Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm (SVA) is a rare but potentially life-threatening condition. Acute myocardial infarction (MI) is a rare consequence of aneurysmal dilatation of one or more sinuses of Valsalva. We present a case of an unruptured and partially thrombosed left SVA, presenting as anterior MI and congestive heart failure.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an umbrella term that includes various pathologies involving the heart and the vasculature system of the body. CVD is the leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for an estimated 32% of all deaths. More than 40% of annual deaths in Jordan are due to CVD; this number is further expected to rise, particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean region where Jordan is located.

Background: Melatonin is an indoleamine hormone secreted by the pineal gland at night and has an essential role in regulating human circadian rhythms (the internal 24-h clock) and sleep-wake patterns. However, it has recently gained considerable attention for its demonstrated ability in disease management. This review discusses the major biological activities of melatonin, its metabolites as nutritional supplements, and its bioavailability in food sources.

In the multimodal strategy context, to implement healthcare-associated infection prevention, bundles are one of the most commonly used methods to adapt guidelines in the local context and transfer best practices into routine clinical care. One of the most important measures to prevent surgical site infections is surgical antibiotic prophylaxis (SAP). This narrative review aims to present a bundle for the correct SAP administration and evaluate the evidence supporting it.

Antibiotic self-medication, which refers to acquisition and using antibiotics to treat infections based on personal experience and/or without a doctor's advice or prescription, is a significant public health issue jeopardizing patient health outcomes. The purpose of the present cross-sectional online survey was to assess the frequency of self-medication among the general public in various geographical locations in southern Jordan, as well as to examine the determinants to self-medication. The survey was distributed through several social media networks over the period November-December 2022, and included demographic information as well as items related to the use and abuse of antibiotics, information sources about antibiotics, the duration of use of antibiotics, and assessment of the public knowledge about appropriate antibiotic use.

Protein-rich energy bars are known as an excellent nutritional supplement for athletes that help to build and repair connective tissues. The study is, therefore, aimed at developing high-protein bars using lupine seeds, wheat germ, and selected dried fruits including raisins, dates, apricots, and cranberries. Different formulations (F1, F2, F3, and F4) were performed at different ratios of ingredients to produce high-protein bars and compared them with a control bar made of whey-protein concentrate and oat flakes.

Chitosan is known to exert antimicrobial activity without the need for any chemical modification; however, new derivatives of chitosan can be created to target multi-drug resistant bacteria. In this study, chitosan (CS) was cross-linked with sodium tripolyphosphate to form nanoparticles, which were then coated with polyacrylic acid (PAA). The SEM images revealed that the CS-PAA nanoparticles had spherical shapes with smooth surfaces and the size of the dried nanoparticles was approximately 222 nm.
