The failure of scaphoid reconstruction by restoring both length and shape may lead to carpal mal-alignment and progressive degenerative arthritis. The aim of our study is to find a reliable method to find out the scaphoid length without measuring the contralateral scaphoid. Three X-ray wrist views were collected for 51 patients without any signs suggesting any hand and wrist fractures.

In this paper we report the clinical utility of the diagnostic guidelines for ICD-11 mental, behavioural and neurodevelopmental disorders as assessed by 339 clinicians in 1,806 patients in 28 mental health settings in 13 countries. Clinician raters applied the guidelines for schizophrenia and other primary psychotic disorders, mood disorders (depressive and bipolar disorders), anxiety and fear-related disorders, and disorders specifically associated with stress. Clinician ratings of the clinical utility of the proposed ICD-11 diagnostic guidelines were very positive overall.

Reliable, clinically useful, and globally applicable diagnostic classification of mental disorders is an essential foundation for global mental health. The World Health Organization (WHO) is nearing completion of the 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-11). The present study assessed inter-diagnostician reliability of mental disorders accounting for the greatest proportion of global disease burden and the highest levels of service utilization - schizophrenia and other primary psychotic disorders, mood disorders, anxiety and fear-related disorders, and disorders specifically associated with stress - among adult patients presenting for treatment at 28 participating centers in 13 countries.

The complex nature of ankle fractures is magnified when seen in patients at high risk of soft tissue wound healing complications. The major categories include associated soft tissue injury, diabetes, tobacco use, peripheral vascular disease, malnutrition, alcoholism, and corticosteroid use. Because of the potential for wound dehiscence and infection with open reduction and internal fixation of ankle fractures in these patients, minimally invasive procedures have been described.

Minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS), including percutaneous pedicle-screw fixation (PPSF), mini-open transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (m-open TLIF), vertebroplasty, and stentoplasty, allows the preservation of neurological function and the restoration of spine stability, while reducing associated risks and complications. This study aimed to analyze the safety and efficacy of MISS in elderly patients suffering from degenerative or traumatic thoracolumbar diseases. Forty-five patients (28 females), with a mean age of 73 years (range 65-89), suffering from osteoporotic vertebral fractures (24), degenerative spondylolisthesis (15), and lumbar canal stenosis with instability and/or de novo scoliosis (6) were included.

Vertebral artery loop formation is a rare anatomical variant capable of causing bony erosion, encroachment on cervical neural foramen, neurovascular compression, or vertebrobasilar insufficiency. Health professionals should keep the diagnosis of vertebral artery loop formation in mind, especially when the plain radiograph of the cervical spine shows enlargement of the intervertebral foramen. If overlooked, serious complications like vertebral artery injury may occur during surgery or vertebrobasilar angiography, as well as cerebrovascular stroke during transforaminal cervical epidural steroid injections.

Encountering an accessory soleus muscle in children undergoing surgical release for clubfeet is not a frequent occurrence and only a few reports could be traced in literature. The purpose of this study is to report a series of 20 observations in 16 patients with idiopathic clubfeet treated by the Ponseti technique where the accessory soleus muscle was responsible in preventing full ankle dorsiflexion after Achilles tendon tenotomy. Following its division, adequate dorsiflexion could be achieved.
