Background/aim: Cisplatin increases the risk of acute kidney injury (AKI) during systemic chemotherapy. However, little is known about its risk of inducing AKI when used during intraperitoneal chemotherapy. This study aimed to determine the incidence of AKI in patients undergoing cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) with cisplatin.

Norm enforcement may be important for resolving conflicts and promoting cooperation. However, little is known about how preferred responses to norm violations vary across cultures and across domains. In a preregistered study of 57 countries (using convenience samples of 22,863 students and non-students), we measured perceptions of the appropriateness of various responses to a violation of a cooperative norm and to atypical social behaviors.

In this study, a new approach to basis of intelligent systems and machine learning algorithms is introduced for solving singular multi-pantograph differential equations (SMDEs). For the first time, a type-2 fuzzy logic based approach is formulated to find an approximated solution. In this study, we use classical applied mathematical modelling to employ the 6-12 Lennard-Jones potential function along with the continuous approximation to investigate the interaction energies between a double-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid (dsDNA) molecule and two-dimensional nanomaterials, namely graphene (GRA), hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), molybdenum disulphide (MoS), and tungsten disulphide (WS). Assuming that the dsDNA molecule has a perpendicular distance above the nano-sheet surface, we calculated the molecular interaction energy and determined the relation between the location of the minimum energy and . We also investigated the interaction of a dsDNA molecule with the surface of each nano-sheet in the presence of a circular hole simulating a nanopore.

Two new '-heteroarylidene-1-carbohydrazide derivatives, namely; -'-[(pyridine-3-yl)methylidene]adamantane-1-carbohydrazide () and -'-[(5-nitrothiophen-2-yl)methylidene]adamantane-1-carbohydrazide (), were produced via condensation of adamantane-1-carbohydrazide with the appropriate heterocyclic aldehyde. Both compounds were chemically and structurally characterized by H-NMR, C-NMR, infrared and UV-vis spectroscopies, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The study was complemented with density functional theory calculations (DFT).

The current study was carried out to evaluate the ameliorative effect of fucoidan against aflatoxicosis-induced hepatorenal toxicity in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Sixty-four Wister albino male rats were randomly assigned into eight groups (8 rats each) that received normal saline, fucoidan (FUC) at 100 mg/kg/day orally for 4 weeks, streptozotocin (STZ) at 50 mg/kg/i.p.

Effect of aluminum loading on structural and morphological characteristics of ZnO nanoparticles for heavy metal ion elimination.

The aim of this work consists on the synthesis of a nanomaterial for heavy metal ion removal from aqueous solutions. Al-doped ZnO (ZnO:Alx%) nanopowders with 0 to 5% Al content are prepared via an amended sol-gel method. The morphology and microstructure of the prepared ZnO:Alx% are probed by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray particles diffraction (XRD) analysis, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and elemental mapping.

The latter was reacted with benzyl or substituted benzyl bromides to yield the -arylmethyl derivatives .
