An essential target for COVID-19 is the main protease of SARS-CoV-2 (M). With the objective of targeting this receptor, a novel set of pyrido[1,2-]pyrrolo[2,3-]pyrimidines with terminal carboxamide fragments was designed, synthesized, and considered as an initial motif for the creation of effective pan-coronavirus inhibitors. Accordingly, nine derivatives (21-29) have been introduced for assay to evaluate their antiviral activity and cytotoxicity effect against COVID-19 virus using Vero cells.

The prevalence of opportunistic human fungal pathogens is increasing worldwide, and antimicrobial resistance is one of the greatest medical challenges the world faces. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a novel agent to control fungal pathogens. The honeybee products (honey, royal jelly, propolis, bee bread, and bee venom) were screened against unicellular fungal (UCF) pathogens (Cryptococcus neoformans, Kodamaea ohmeri, and Candida albicans) and the bee venom was only exhibited an inhibitory effect against them.

The desert environment is a clean, dynamic system due to its remoteness from human interventions. Yet, sometimes it is approached by anthropogenic activities that change its balanced ecosystem. The present study states that the non-planned construction of wastewater plants has affected the environment and led to water resource deterioration.

Nasal drug delivery has the potential to improve the systemic bioavailability of drugs with low oral bioavailability. Olmesartan medoxomil (OLM) is one of the most popular drugs for the treatment of hypertension with poor oral bioavailability of approximately 26 %. In this context, the goal of this work was to synthesize chitosan nanoparticles (CS NPs) loaded with OLM using the ionotropic gelation method to enhance the bioavailability and decrease oral side effects through nasal route.

Background: Proximal hypospadias, with significant curvature, is one of the most challenging anomalies. Great diversity and a large number of procedures described over the last 4 decades confirmed the fact that no single procedure has been universally accepted or successful. So, the aim of this study is to evaluate double-faced tubularized preputial flap (DFPF) versus transverse tubularized inner preputial flap (Duckett's procedure) as regards surgical outcomes, complications rate, and cosmetic results for repair of penoscrotal hypospadias with chordee.

For technical and radioprotection causes, it has become essential to find new trends of smart materials which used as protection from ionizing radiation. To overcome the undesirable properties in lead aprons and provide the proper or better shielding properties against ionizing radiation, the tendency is now going to use ferrite as a shielding material. The co-precipitation method was utilized to prevent any foreign phases in the investigated MZN nano-ferrite.

Background: Since the root nodules formation is regulated by specific and complex interactions of legume and rhizobial genes, there are still too many questions to be answered about the role of the genes involved in the regulation of the nodulation signaling pathway.
Results: The genetic and biological roles of the isoflavone-7-O-beta-glucoside 6″-O-malonyltransferase gene GsIMaT2 from wild soybean (Glycine soja) in the regulation of nodule and root growth in soybean (Glycine max) were examined in this work. The effect of overexpressing GsIMaT2 from G.

Coral-bacterial interaction is a major driver in coral acclimatization to the stressful environment. 16S rRNA High-throughput sequencing was used to classify the role of different coral reef compartments; sediment, water, and tissue; in the South China Sea (SCS), as well as different locations in shaping the microbial community. The majority of OTUs significantly shifted at impacted sites and indicated distinction in the relative abundance of bacteria compartment/site-wise.

In this study, the crude extract and its isolated compounds from the stem bark of Annickia chlorantha were tested for their larvicidal, developmental, and repellent activity against the mosquito vector, Culex pipiens, besides their toxicity to the non-target aquatic organism, the zebrafish (Danio rerio). The acute larvicidal activity of isolated compounds; namely, palmatine, jatrorrhizine, columbamine, β-sitosterol, and Annickia chlorantha methanolic extract (AC), was observed. Developmentally, the larval duration was significantly prolonged when palmatine and β-sitosterol were applied, whereas the pupal duration was significantly prolonged for almost all treatments except palmatine and jatrorrhizine, where it shortened from those in the control.

Development of durable and eco-friendly adsorbents for oil remediation is in great demands. However, most of adsorbents were designed to pursue large capabilities while ignored their strength after adsorbing oil, which might cause secondary oil spilling during complex salvage process. Herein, an eco-friendly and superhydrophobic SiO-modified polyvinyl alcohol composite (H-SiO-G-PVA) sponge with extraordinary rigid structure after oil adsorption is designed for durable oil remediation.

Rock wool (RW) nanostructures of various sizes and morphologies were prepared using a combination of ball-mill and hydrothermal techniques, followed by an annealing process. Different tools were used to explore the morphologies, structures, chemical compositions and optical characteristics of the samples. The effect of initial particle size on the characteristics and photoelectrochemical performance of RW samples generated hydrothermally was investigated.

In our survey for a new antiviral agent, two types of lectin were purified from Nostoc muscorum using both ion-exchange and affinity columns chromatography. Nostoc muscorum lectins (NMLs) are categorized based on their carbohydrate preference. Nostoc muscorum lectin-1(NML-1) exhibited a strict binding specificity for complex glycoproteins without linked carbohydrates, and the other displayed specificity for α- glycosides mannose polymers (NML-2) and was classified as a glycoprotein with 16.

The synthesis of novel corrosion inhibitors and biocide metal complex nanoparticle surfactants was achieved through the reaction of sulfonamide with selenious acid to produce a quaternary ammonium salt. Platinum and cobalt surfactants were then formed by complexing the first products with platinum (II) or cobalt (II) ions. The surface properties of these surfactants were then investigated, and the free energy of form micelles (ΔG) and adsorption (ΔG) was determined.

Introduction: Rosuvastatin calcium (ROSCa) is an anti-hyperlipidemic drug with only 20% oral bioavailability due to its low solubility and high first-pass metabolism. Therefore, the main purpose of this work was to compare solid lipid nanoparticles to nanostructured lipid carriers and evaluate their effect on solubility improvement and hence the bioavailability of a model insoluble drug.
Methods: Different nanosuspensions were formulated using high-speed homogenization and ultrasonication techniques, using Apifil as solid lipid and Maisine as liquid lipid.

Monitoring of air pollutants using satellite data has been largely improved over the past few decades, which can provide deeper insights into the effects of anthropogenic activities on the air quality. The observations and measurements of atmospheric NO are poorly investigated in North Africa, therefore, the current study applied a multi-proxy approach to better understand of the ambient environment. This approach is based on satellite observations, chemical and biological analyses, and investigative information during fieldworks.
