Objectives: The purpose of the study was to assess the precision of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in comparison with panoramic radiography in determining the anatomical relationship of inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) with the impacted mandibular third molar.

Materials And Methods: Twenty patients diagnosed with the following panoramic radiographic markers: darkening of the root, interruption of white line of mandibular canal, diversion of mandibular canal, and narrowing of the roots suggesting a close relationship of roots with the mandibular canal were selected and underwent an additional CBCT to assess the proximity of IAN to mandibular third molar roots. All patients were assessed for loss of sensation or neurosensory deficit in the chin and lower lip during postoperative period by objective and subjective methods.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate how effectively different irrigants (MTAD, NaOCl, EDTA, and chlorhexidine gluconate) remove the smear layer from root canals and their antibacterial properties against certain bacterial strains.
  • Sixty extracted teeth were divided into five groups, with one group using saline as a control, while the others used various irrigants during root canal treatment, followed by SEM examination and testing for antibacterial action.
  • Results showed that MTAD and 17% EDTA effectively removed the smear layer, while MTAD demonstrated the strongest antibacterial action, though the direct applicability of these findings to clinical settings is uncertain.

Aim: This in vitro study evaluated the resistance form of die preparations for all ceramic restorations and, thereby, explored the concept of effective taper and its correlation between the ideal in theory and actual in the clinical situation by analyzing the digital images of the die preparations.

Materials And Methods: Scanned digital images of 114 die preparations for all ceramic restorations (n = 114) were collected from a dental laboratory. All the images were also analyzed digitally using Adobe Photoshop® software to analyze the degree of taper (angle of convergence) of each preparation and then applied the Zuckerman's circle, and the Lewis perpendicular methods were used to measure the resistance form.
