RO and ChRCC are kidney tumours with overlapping characteristics, making differentiation between them challenging. The objective of this research is to create a radiogenomics map by correlating radiomic features to molecular phenotypes in ChRCC and RO, using resection as the gold standard. Fourteen patients (6 RO and 8 ChRCC) were included in the prospective study.

Hepatitis D virus (HDV) prevalence data and country-specific HDV guidelines are not widely available in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. We developed consensus recommendations to guide healthcare professionals, policymakers, and researchers in improving HDV management and patient health outcomes in three GCC states: Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. A consensus panel comprising hepatology experts (n = 6) from the three GCC societies was formed.

Background: Emerging evidence from various countries suggests that ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients with differing health-care insurance types experience discrepancies in clinical management and outcomes. Kuwait government provides free essential treatments and medications to noninsured patients with certain emergency conditions. We aimed to compare differences in clinical management and in-hospital and 30-day outcomes in STEMI patients with different insurance types in Kuwait.

Background: For individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS), treatment interruption can result in relapse/recurrence of the disease activity. Currently, there are no consensus guidelines about whether an abrupt stop with a short washout period or gradual tapering is better for fingolimod (Gilenya) cessation. We investigated the impact of the fingolimod discontinuation strategy on the recurrence of disease activity and the rebound occurrence of symptoms during washout.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common condition treated with biological disease-modifying anti-rheumatic medicines (bDMARDs). However, many patients exhibit resistance, necessitating the use of machine learning models to predict remissions in patients treated with bDMARDs, thereby reducing healthcare costs and minimizing negative effects.
Objective: The study aims to develop machine learning models using data from the Kuwait Registry for Rheumatic Diseases (KRRD) to identify clinical characteristics predictive of remission in RA patients treated with biologics.

Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP), or anaphylactoid purpura, is an acute, self-limited small-vessel vasculitis commonly affecting children aged 3-10. It features a classic tetrad: palpable non-thrombocytopenic purpura, abdominal pain, polyarthralgia, and renal involvement. While the prognosis is generally favorable, long-term outcomes depend on renal involvement.

Background: Feeding intolerance is common in critically ill patients and can lead to malnutrition. Prokinetic agents may be used to enhance the uptake of nutrition. However, the evidence on the effectiveness and safety of prokinetic agents is sparse, and there is a lack of data on their use in intensive care units (ICU).

Introduction: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, highly contagious pathogen and a leading cause of serious illness among infants and older adults. While existing scientific evidence has predominantly focused on the epidemiology and disease burden of RSV in infants, data in older adults remain limited in some countries, including those in Southeast Asia (SEA) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Here, we outline the key challenges for understanding the burden of RSV in older adults in SEA and the MENA region and we propose opportunities for improving understanding and eventually reducing the impact of RSV.

Introduction: Use of albumin is suggested for some patients with shock, but preferences for its use may vary among intensive care unit (ICU) physicians.
Methods: We conducted an international online survey of ICU physicians with 20 questions about their use of albumin and their opinion towards a randomised trial among adults with shock comparing the use versus no use of albumin.
Results: A total of 1248 respondents participated, with a mean response rate of 37%, ranging from 18% to 75% across 21 countries.

Background: This Rapid Practice Guideline (RPG) aimed to provide evidence-based recommendations for ketamine analgo-sedation (monotherapy and adjunct) versus non-ketamine sedatives or usual care in adult intensive care unit (ICU) patients on invasive mechanical ventilation (iMV) and to identify knowledge gaps for future research.
Methods: The RPG panel comprised 23 multinational multidisciplinary panelists, including a patient representative. An up-to-date systematic review and meta-analysis constituted the evidence base.

Background: Risk stratification for patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) for left main coronary artery (LMCA) disease is essential for informed decision-making. This study explored the potential of machine learning (ML) methods to identify key risk factors associated with mortality in this patient group.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted on 866 patients from the Gulf Left Main Registry who presented between 2015 and 2019.

Background: Assessing the effects of compromised vision in laparoscopic and robotic procedures is crucial to understanding its impact on surgical practice and patient safety. Our aim was to examine the impact of operative vision compromise (OViC) on surgeons' practice.
Methods: Intraoperative workload was qualitatively assessed using the NASA-TLX score.
