The effects of the curvature parameters on the energy eigenvalues and thermodynamic properties of quantum pseudoharmonic oscillator are investigated within the framework of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics. By employing Nikiforov-Uvarov method, the energy spectra are obtained and used to study the ordinary statistics and q-deformed superstatistics as a function of temperature in the presence and absence of the curvature parameters. It is shown that the q-deformed supertatistics properties of the quantum pseudoharmonic oscillator reduce to the ordinary statistical properties in the absence of the deformation parameter.

The application of nickel complexes of nicotinic acid hydrazide ligand as a potential gas-sensor and adsorbent material for HS gas was examined using appropriate density functional theory (DFT) calculations with the ωB97XD/Gen/6-311++G(d,p)/LanL2DZ method. The FT-IR spectrum of the synthesized ligand exhibited a medium band at 3178 cm attributed to (NH) stretching vibrations and strong bands at 1657 and 1600 cm corresponding to the presence of (C[double bond, length as m-dash]O) and (C[double bond, length as m-dash]N) vibration modes. In the spectrum of the nickel(ii) complex, the (C[double bond, length as m-dash]O) and (C[double bond, length as m-dash]N) vibration bands experience negative shifts to 1605 cm and 1580 cm, respectively, compared to the ligand.

2D transition metal dichalcogenide MoS monolayer quantum dots (MoS-QD) and their doped boron (B@MoS-QD), nitrogen (N@MoS-QD), phosphorus (P@MoS-QD), and silicon (Si@MoS-QD) surfaces have been theoretically investigated using density functional theory (DFT) computation to understand their mechanistic sensing ability, such as conductivity, selectivity, and sensitivity toward NH gas. The results from electronic properties showed that P@MoS-QD had the lowest energy gap, which indicated an increase in electrical conductivity and better adsorption behavior. By carrying out comparative adsorption studies using m062-X, ωB97XD, B3LYP, and PBE0 methods at the 6-311G++(d,p) level of theory, the most negative values were observed from ωB97XD for the P@MoS-QD surface, signifying the preferred chemisorption surface for NH detection.

AVI (Aquifer vulnerability index), GOD (groundwater occurrence, overlying lithology and depth to the aquifer), GLSI (geo-electric layer susceptibility indexing) and S (longitudinal unit conductance) models were used to assess economically exploitable groundwater resource in the coastal environment of Akwa Ibom State, southern Nigeria. The models were employed in order to delineate groundwater into its category of vulnerability to contamination sources using the first- and second-order geo-electric indices as well as hydrogeological inputs.
