Human papillomaviruses (HPV), most commonly HPV16, are associated with a subset of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) tumors, primarily oropharyngeal carcinomas, with integration of viral genomes into host chromosomes associated with worse survival outcomes. We analyzed TCGA data and found that HPV+ HNSCC expressed higher transcript levels of the bromodomain and extra terminal domain (BET) family of transcriptional coregulators. The role of BET protein-mediated transcription of viral-cellular genes in the viral-HNSCC genomes needs to be better understood.

Background: Several countries are currently revising or have already revised their mental health laws to align with the global movement to reduce the use of coercive care. No government has yet fully implemented the recommendation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) to eliminate the use of coercion in mental healthcare. Consequently, the international field of mental health law and policy is in a degree of flux.

Objective: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is defined as a persistent pattern of inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning anofd development. Increased emotional reactivity and impaired emotion regulation are established findings in children with ADHD. Impairments in executive functions such as impulse control and working memory, in turn, have also been suggested to have a negative effect on emotion recognition.

Purpose: Information about outcomes of particular relevance to older prostate cancer survivors is limited. This study aimed to compare health, activities of daily living (ADL), and use of health care services between survivors and matched controls.
Methods: A single-centre study on men treated for prostate cancer with curative intent at the age ≥ 70 years 2 to 7 years earlier.

We have previously demonstrated an association between increased abundance of and colorectal cancer (CRC) and adenomas in two independent Norwegian cohorts. Here we seek to verify our previous findings using new cohorts and methods. In addition, we characterize lifestyle and sex specificity, the functional potential of the species, and their interaction with other microbial species.

Background: Focal cartilage lesions (FCLs) are frequently found during knee arthroscopies and may impair quality of life (QoL) significantly. Several treatment options with good short-term results are available, but the natural history without any treatment is largely unknown. The aim of this study was to evaluate patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), the need for subsequent cartilage surgery, and the risk of treatment failure 20 years after diagnosis of an FCL in the knee.

Resistance to neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy (neo-CRT) is a significant clinical problem in the treatment of locally advanced rectal cancer. Identification of novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers predicting therapeutic response is required to improve patient outcomes. Increasing evidence supports a role for the complement system in resistance to anti-cancer therapy.

Background: Register studies have shown that chances of success after surgery for lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) decrease with increasing numbers of previous operations. However, these studies presumed that success criteria remain constant with each consecutive spinal surgery.
Purpose: We aimed to redefine success criteria specific for each consecutive surgery.

Objectives: This study assessed associations of three theoretically different occupational class schemes with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in Norwegian men and women.
Study Design: Pooled survey and register data from four Norwegian cohort studies.
Methods: We pooled survey data from four general population cohorts (N = 97,469) linked to national mortality registries with follow-up over 45 years.

Background: This study aims to delineate anatomical landmarks crucial for complete mesocolic excision, focusing on Gerota's fascia, which guides surgical dissection in right-sided colon cancer, forming the posterior limit. Employing a multimodal approach, the research aims to understand the fascial anatomy and its variations under pathological conditions.
Methods: Three methods were applied: a pilot dissection on an embalmed cadaver for clear anatomical presentation of prerenal fascia, Mimics segmentation of the fascia and its relationship with the colon, and a retrospective analysis of MDCTA scans from 196 patients (mean age 65.

Introduction: We have previously shown that immigrants have lower attendance in BreastScreen Norway than non-immigrants and that non-Western immigrants have lower incidence of breast cancer, but more advanced disease.
Purpose: To compare breast cancer-specific survival for immigrants versus non-immigrants diagnosed with screen-detected or symptomatic breast cancer.
Material And Methods: We analyzed data from 28,320 women aged 50-69 diagnosed with breast cancer after being invited to BreastScreen Norway.

Background: The potential benefit of exercise in alleviating symptoms of endometriosis is unclear. Still, exercise may be used to empower women and manage disease symptoms. The purpose of this study was to explore how regular supervised group- and individual exercise training, including pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT), is experienced among women with endometriosis after participating in a randomized controlled trial (RCT).

Background: Understanding cellular responses to SARS-CoV-2 immunisations is important for informing vaccine recommendations in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and other vulnerable patients on immunosuppressive therapies. This study investigated the magnitude and quality of T cell responses after multiple SARS-CoV-2 vaccine doses and COVID-19 breakthrough infection.
Methods: This prospective, observational study included patients with IBD and arthritis on tumour necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi) receiving up to four SARS-CoV-2 vaccine doses.

Background: Fetal growth restriction is associated with perinatal morbidity and mortality. Early identification of women having at-risk fetuses can reduce perinatal adverse outcomes.
Objectives: To assess the predictive performance of existing models predicting fetal growth restriction and birthweight, and if needed, to develop and validate new multivariable models using individual participant data.

Introduction: The apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) is the current diagnostic parameter for diagnosing and estimating the severity of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It is, however, poorly associated with the main clinical symptom of OSA, excessive daytime sleepiness, and with the often-seen cognitive decline among OSA patients. To better evaluate OSA severity, novel hypoxic load parameters have been introduced that consider the duration and depth of oxygen saturation drops associated with apneas or hypopneas.

Excessive and incorrect use of antibiotics contributes to the rise of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Given that pharmacists act as final checkpoint before antibiotics is handled over to patients, they play a crucial role in promoting proper antibiotic use and ensuring treatment adherence. However, there is often a gap between the patients' needs and perceptions, and what the pharmacists provide.

Torque Teno Virus (TTV) is a non-pathogenic anellovirus, highly prevalent in healthy populations. Variations in its viral load have been associated with states of diminished immunity, as occurs after organ transplantation. It is hypothesized that TTV-load might be used as a diagnostic tool to guide prescription and dosing of immunosuppressive drugs.

Background: Noninvasive assessment of elevated filling pressure in the left ventricle (LV) remains an unresolved problem. Of the many echocardiographic parameters used to evaluate diastolic pressure, the left atrial strain and strain rate (LA S/SR) have shown promise in clinical settings. However, only a few previous studies have evaluated LA S/SR in larger populations.

Background: A lack of instruments to assess patient safety climate within primary care exists. The objectives of this study were as follows: 1) To adapt the Danish hospital version of the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ-DK) for use in primary care; 2) Test the internal consistency and the construct validity of this version; 3) Present benchmark data; and 4) Analyze variance.
Methods: The SAQ-DK was adapted for use in Danish primary care settings (SAQ-DK-PRIM) and distributed to healthcare staff members from nursing homes (N = 11), homecare units (N = 4) and healthcare units (N = 2), within the municipality of Aarhus, Central Denmark Region, Denmark.
