Professional values gained in postgraduate nursing education from the perspectives of master's and doctorate graduates: A mixed-methods study.

Aim: To determine the professional values of graduates of master's and doctoral programs in nursing and their views on the contribution of postgraduate education to their professional values.

Background: In postgraduate education, which is an important catalyst of professional identity development, a professional is expected to specialize in a field, get into more depth professionally, internalize professional values, and reflect and strengthen these values. To shed light on this expectation, more information is needed to assess the impact of postgraduate education on professional values.

The effect of Jigsaw technique on nursing students' psychomotor skill levels and academic achievement: A quasi-experimental study.

Aim: To determine the effect of Jigsaw Technique on students' psychomotor skill levels, academic achievement and retention of knowledge on local drug applications and their opinion on Jigsaw Technique.

Can labor support based on Kolcaba's Theory reduce the negative consequences of fear of childbirth? A pilot study.

Background: The fear of childbirth (FOC) causes negativities such as increased an need for analgesia and interventions related to labour, prolonged labor, and childbirth dissatisfaction. It has been shown that birth support can be an effective strategy for reducing these negative outcomes. Also, labour support based on a nursing theory can help improve care outcomes.

Qualitative exploration of nurses' experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic using the Reconceptualized Uncertainty in Illness Theory: An interpretive descriptive study.

Aims: To explore nurses' personal, social and professional experiences in COVID-19 emergency departments and intensive care units based on the Reconceptualized Uncertainty in Illness Theory.

Design: This study used an interpretive qualitative descriptive design.

Methods: Open-ended interviews were conducted between August and November 2020 with 21 nurses using interview questions based on the Reconceptualized Uncertainty in Illness Theory.

Relationship between menopausal symptoms and perceived stress during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This study aimed to examine the relationship between menopausal symptoms and perceived stress in middle-aged women during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this cross-sectional study, data were collected online from 239 middle-aged women using the Personal Information Form, Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) and Perceived Stress Scale-14 (PSS-14). A positive correlation was found between the total MRS score and the total PSS-14 score.

Determining the Organizational Cultural Competence of Hospitals Located in the Coastal Strip of the City of Antalya.

Aim: This study aimed to determine the organizational cultural competence of hospitals located in the coastal strip of Antalya city in Turkey.

Method: The sample of this descriptive study included 31 hospitals. Data were collected with a questionnaire developed by the researchers under the guidance of 2 guides related to organizational cultural competency standards.

Design: This study is a qualitative study based on a constructivist grounded theory approach.

Methods: Data were collected using a semi-structured interview guide initially that was later to be changed to a flexible interview guide between June 2018 and 2019.

The awareness levels of women for gynecologic cancer in Turkey: A cross-sectional study.

Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 321 women. Data were collected using a Personal Information Form and the Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Scale (GCAS).

Effects of a nursing care program based on the theory of human caring on women diagnosed with gynecologic cancer: a pilot study from Turkey.

Purpose/objectives: This pilot study aimed to determine the effects of a nursing care program based on the Theory of Human Caring (THC) on chemotherapy symptoms, hope, and meaning in life in women diagnosed with gynecologic cancer.

Design/methods: This pilot study was conducted in a single-blinded, randomized controlled trial on 52 women diagnosed with gynecologic cancer in Turkey. In the present study, the experimental group was given a nursing care program based on the THC alongside routine nursing care for five sessions, while the control group received solely routine nursing care.

Factors influencing violence at emergency departments: Patients' relatives' perspectives.

Introduction: In hospitals, the places where the highest rate of violence is perpetrated are emergency departments (EDs). Evaluating patient relatives' perceptions of violence and obtaining their views about how to prevent violence incidents are important in terms of uncovering the factors that increase violent behaviors. This study was aimed at determining the factors increasing violence in the emergency department (ED) from the perspectives of patient relatives.

Comorbid anxiety and depression (CAD) at early stages of the pregnancy. A multicultural cross-sectional study.

Introduction: When anxiety and depression are comorbid (CAD), symptoms are more severe and the response to treatments is worse. Given the links between mood disorders and poor perinatal outcomes, CAD and its correlates deserve special clinical attention during pregnancy. The main objective of this study was to learn about the prevalence of comorbid anxiety and depression (CAD) in early stages of the pregnancy analyzing the relationship between CAD and cultural and sociodemographic factors.

Developing compassion and emotional intelligence in nursing students: A quasi-experimental study.

Purpose: This study examined the effect of the Caring Behavior in Nursing course on the compassion and emotional intelligence levels of nursing students.

Design And Methods: This quasi-experimental study was carried out using pretest and posttest design. The research sample consisted of the intervention (n = 37) and the control (n = 36) group.

Practicums help nursing students to become familiar with nursing roles and to acquire a proper understanding of nursing behavior, functions, and values. Initial clinical practice experiences are highly important, especially for first-year nursing students, in terms of professional socialization. The aim of this study was to explore the initial experiences of first-year nursing students during clinical practices.

Correlates for state and trait anxiety in a multicultural sample of Turkish and Spanish women at first trimester of pregnancy.

Objective: The main objective of this research was to assess the potential influence of cultural factors on the anxiety levels of a multicultural sample of Spanish and Turkish pregnant women at the beginning of the pregnancy.

Methods: Between October and December 2017 a total of 250 Turkish and 264 Spanish pregnant women attending their first pregnancy medical check-up between 10 and 12 weeks of pregnancy in three different cities, Istanbul, Antalya and Malaga, were recruited for study. These women completed a questionnaire that included the Turkish or Spanish validated of the state-trait anxiety Inventory, and a series of questions related to health status, general mood, and sociodemographic variables.

Development and Assessment of a Coping Scale for Infertile Women in Turkey.

Infertile women feel more psychological stress and pressure than their husbands, and the prevalence of anxiety and depression among them are higher. This study aimed to develop a culture-specific measurement tool to identify the strategies of infertile women in dealing with infertility-related problems. This was a scale development study.

Cultural factors influencing antenatal depression: A cross-sectional study in a cohort of Turkish and Spanish women at the beginning of the pregnancy.

Background: Depression is the most frequent mental disorder during pregnancy, and its prevalence is at least as high as that of postnatal depression. Differences between Western and Eastern countries may exist according to cultural and educational factors.

Objective: to determine the influence of social and cultural factors on the mood state of a multicultural sample of 514 Turkish and Spanish pregnant women at the beginning of the pregnancy.

The effect of music listening on the anxiety of nursing students during their first blood draw experience.

Background: Nursing education is a process aimed both at theoretical knowledge and skill development. The Fundamentals of Nursing is a course that furnishes students with professional knowledge, concepts and technical skills, and, also, is the keystone of nursing education in our country. Students experience a great deal of anxiety as they face basic nursing practices for the first time.

The objectives of this study were to investigate learning experiences of the nurses who participated in transnational and multinational occupational training. A qualitative descriptive methodology was used. Data are clustered into 3 categories "occupational training," "complementary care," and "intercultural interaction.

Life experiences of caregivers of women with gynaecological cancer: a mixed-methods systematic review.

Family caregivers play a key role in meeting care needs of cancer patients. The aim of this review was to systematically examine life experiences of family caregivers of women with gynaecological cancer. A mixed-methods systematic review based on a retrospective review of the research on the topic was conducted.

Faculty experiences with rapid integration of male nursing students within a patriarchal societal context.

Background: In 2007, reforms by the Turkish government forced a rapid integration of male nursing students into previously all-female schools. The minimal amount of time for faculty preparation, little guidance from nursing leaders and the extant literature, and a societal context of patriarchy created unique challenges for faculty.

Objective: The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore and interpret the experiences of nursing faculty as they adapted to the sudden inclusion of men in schools of nursing.
