Although the in vitro fertilization-intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF-ICSI) has been utilized widely, the management in patients with an autoimmune disease is still a challenge. The aim of this study was to demonstrate IVF-ICSI outcomes in infertile women with familial Mediterranean fever (FMF). Patient data were collected from the cases registered from January 2006 until January 2014.

Objective: Early and accurate diagnosis of acute appendicitis (AA) with ultrasound (US) can minimize the morbidity and mortality of the patients. In this regard, US can help emergency physicians (EPs) in the diagnosing process and clinical decision making for AA. Therefore, we primarily aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of point-of-care US (POCUS) in clinical decision making of EPs for the diagnostic evaluation for AA in the emergency department (ED).

Background: The pharmacokinetics and the pharmacodynamics of antidepressants show large inter-individual variations which result in unpredictable clinical responses.
Aim: The aim of the study was to examine the effect of ABCB1 polymorphisms and the serum concentrations on the efficacy and tolerability of venlafaxine in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD).
Methods: Fifty-two outpatients who met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth Edition (DSM-IV) criteria for MDD were recruited for the study.

Background: The purpose of this study is to examine the plain knee radiographs in Turkish subjects in order to determine the prevalence of the fabella and analyse the differences between age, gender, laterality and its symmetry pattern.
Materials And Methods: Bilateral antero-posterior and lateral knee radiographs of 500 patients (250 male and 250 female subjects, 1000 knee radiographs) were randomly selected from the clinical database and retrospectively evaluated. Data on patient age, gender, and knee laterality (right-left) were evaluated from hospital records.

This study aimed to determine circulating levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2), lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and measure circulating protein levels of angiopoietin-like protein 3 (ANGPTL3), ANGPTL4, cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in patients with acne vulgaris. Serum from 21 control subjects and 31 acne vulgaris patients were evaluated for levels of arachidonic acid (AA, C20:4n- 6), dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid (DGLA, C20:3n-6), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, C20:5n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, C22:6n-3). PUFA levels were determined by an optimized multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) method using ultra fast-liquid chromatography (UFLC) coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS).

Primary hyperoxaluria type 1 (PH1) is a rare, autosomal recessive disease, caused by the defect of AGXT gene encoding hepatic peroxisomal alanine glyoxylateaminotransferase (AGT). This enzyme is responsible for the conversion of glyoxylate to glycine. The diagnosis of PH1 should be suspected in infants and children with nephrocalcinosis or nephrolithiasis.

Unlabelled: Drug-related acute tubulointerstitial nephritis is one of the most common causes of childhood acute renal failures which originate from kidneys. Sixteen-year old male patient with the history of isotretinoin use for the last 3 months was admitted with acute renal failure. Renal function parameters were measured as follows: blood urea nitrogen 21 mg/dL, serum creatinine 1.

The role of IL-25 and IL-33 in the aetiology and pathogenesis of nasal polyps has been controversial in the literature. The objective of the study is to detect serum and tissue levels of IL-25 and IL-33 in patients with (CRSwNP) or without (CRSsNP) nasal polyps using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Study group consisted of 20 CRSwNP and 20 CRSsNP patients.

Objectives: Red cell distribution width (RDW) and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) are the two markers used to determine risk of mortality and adverse cardiovascular outcomes in patients with acute myocardial infarction. The relationship between RDW, NLR, and left ventricular (LV) systolic functions has not been reported. In this report, we aimed to investigate the relationship between RDW, NLR, and LV systolic function in anterior ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Objective: The aim of this study is to detect the value of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for diagnosing a nail bed injury and fracture of distal phalanx in patients presenting with distal finger trauma to the emergency department (ED).
Methods: Patients, 18 to 65 years old, presenting with a blunt trauma of distal finger and diagnosed with subungual hematoma were eligible for the study. Subungual hematoma extending over more than 50%, fracture of distal phalanx, and disruption of periungual tissue or nail integrity were accepted as the indications for nail bed inspection.

Central venous catheterization as a frequent routine clinical procedure may have significant complications. Mechanical complications may occur during catheter placement, whereas thromboembolic and infectious complications can be seen during follow-up. Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) associated central venous catheterizations may result in early mechanical complications and thrombotic and infectious complications in the long term.

The orbital floor is the thinnest part of the orbital wall, and in 20% of all maxillofacial injuries it is fractured. Autografts, allografts, and alloplastic materials are used in reconstruction, but there is no consensus about which material is the most appropriate. Nail is a semirigid material that is easy to reshape and is not antigenic.

Objective: Point-of-care ultrasonography (POCUS) is an easily available and noninvasive tool without radiation exposure that is also gaining a broad range of use in emergency departments. The aim of this study is to evaluate the value of POCUS in the diagnosis of shoulder dislocation by comparing with plain radiography.
Methods: This prospective observational study with a convenience sampling was conducted in emergency departments of 2 hospitals.

Clinical efficacy of anticancer chemotherapies is dramatically hampered by multidrug resistance (MDR) dependent on inherited traits, acquired defence against toxins, and adaptive mechanisms mounting in tumours. There is overwhelming evidence that molecular events leading to MDR are regulated by redox mechanisms. For example, chemotherapeutics which overrun the first obstacle of redox-regulated cellular uptake channels (MDR1, MDR2, and MDR3) induce a concerted action of phase I/II metabolic enzymes with a temporal redox-regulated axis.

The third part of the European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB) Guidelines on Interventional Ultrasound assesses the evidence for ultrasound-guided and assisted interventions in abdominal treatment procedures. Recommendations for clinical practice are presented covering indications, contraindications, safety and efficacy of the broad variety of these techniques. In particular, drainage of abscesses and fluid collections, interventional tumor ablation techniques, interventional treatment of symptomatic cysts and echinococcosis, percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography and drainage, percutaneous gastrostomy, urinary bladder drainage, and nephrostomy are addressed (short version; a long version is published online).
