[Psychedelics in psychiatry: an open debate].

The application of psychedelics in psychiatry and psychotherapy is increasingly the subject of scientific evaluation and discussion in national and international professional and general society, and, internationally, has already been partly applied in the clinical setting. The manuscript provides a basic description of the state of the art regarding evidence and clinical issues; law, ethics and economics are addressed; therapeutic qualification of potential users and a potentially clinical embedding in psychiatry are discussed, taking into consideration current challenges. Thus, the discussion will cover the circumstances under which the application of psychedelics might have a potential to broaden the spectrum of treatments in certain psychiatric conditions, particularly in the context of chronicity and treatment resistance to current methods.

[Colorectal cancer screening with virtual colonography].

Background: Since 2003, a decline in the age-standardized incidence rates of colorectal cancer (CRC) has been observed in Germany. Nonetheless, one in eight cancer cases still affects the colon or rectum. The prognosis has improved, with the relative 5‑year survival rate for CRC being approximately 65%.

[Analysis of the postoperative outcome of 81 cases of nasal reconstruction with direct closure].

It is expected that the ordinance of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) on early detection of lung cancer, which has been commented on by the professional societies, will come into effect by the end of 2023. Based on this regulation, the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) will set up a program for early lung cancer detection with LDCT in the near future.

The effect of GP-2250 on cultured virus-negative Merkel cell carcinoma cells: preliminary results.

Background: Even in the novel immunotherapy era, Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) remains challenging in its treatment. Apart from Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) associated MCC, this cancer is linked in about 20% of cases to ultraviolet-induced mutational burden frequently causing aberrations in Notch and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signalling pathways. The recently developed agent GP-2250 is capable to inhibit growth of cells of different cancers, including pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.

[Role of German cardiac arrest centers in mediating basic life support].

Background And Objective: Despite a measurable increase in recent years, the bystander resuscitation rate in Germany lags behind the European comparison. Special centers for the care of patients after cardiac arrest, so-called cardiac arrest centers (CAC), have been established. The aim of this work is to evaluate the role of CACs, in addition to in-hospital patient care, in improving the bystander resuscitation rate in Germany and what obstacles exist in the implementation of resuscitation training.

[DIVI-Recommendations on the infrastruture of adult intensive care units].

This document on the Structure and Equipment for Intensive Care Units of the German Association for Intensive and Emergency Care (DIVI) aims at providing guidance and recommendations for the requirements of (infra)structure, personal, and organization of intensive care units. The recommendations are based on a systematic literature search and a formal consensus process from a group of multi-disciplinary and multiprofessional specialists from the DIVI. The recommendations comprise a 3-staged level of intensive care units, a 3-staged level of care with respect to severity of illness, the staffing requirement of physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other specialists.

Best Practice Guideline - DEGUM Recommendations on Breast Ultrasound.

Alongside mammography, breast ultrasound is an important and well-established method in assessment of breast lesions. With the "Best Practice Guideline", the DEGUM Breast Ultrasound (in German, "Mammasonografie") working group, intends to describe the additional and optional application modalities for the diagnostic confirmation of breast findings and to express DEGUM recommendations in this Part II, in addition to the current dignity criteria and assessment categories published in Part I, in order to facilitate the differential diagnosis of ambiguous lesions.The present "Best Practice Guideline" has set itself the goal of meeting the requirements for quality assurance and ensuring quality-controlled performance of breast ultrasound.

[Psychedelics in Psychiatry - Development and Current State in Germany].

Clinical research on the therapeutic efficacy of psychedelics is currently experiencing a renaissance. Available scientific evidence on their efficacy in various psychiatric conditions, as well as their legally approved use in some countries of the world, show the possibility of their future application in clinical practice also in Germany. The field is facing substantial challenges that have to be addressed, such as defining and setting a suitable clinical frame.

With modern treatment protocols and early disease detection success rates can reach up to 100% of disease-free-globe and eye preservation.

[Clinical aspects and care of radiogenic treatment side effects on the eye].

Malignant tumors of the eye can be successfully treated with radiotherapy, which, however, can lead to radiogenic side effects in the surrounding healthy tissues. A  distinction can be made between two forms of irradiation, external radiotherapy (teletherapy) and brachytherapy with a radiation source close to the tumor. The radiation dose is important for the occurrence of side effects.

[Guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) on cardiopulmonary resuscitation 2021: update and comments].

The European guidelines on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which are divided into 12 chapters, have recently been published.
