Thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties of Si-stacked nanosheet transistors using machine learning interatomic potentials.

Thermal and mechanical properties play a key role in optimizing the performance of nanoelectronic devices. In this study, the lattice thermal conductivity (κL) and elastic constants of Si nanosheets at different sheet thicknesses were determined using recently developed machine learning interatomic potentials (MLIPs). A Si nanosheet with a minimum thickness of 10 atomic layers was used for model training to predict the properties of sheets with greater thicknesses.

Efficacy of hydrophilic resin-based sealant: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objectives: This meta-analysis review aims to answer two questions: 1) What is the effectiveness of hydrophilic resin-based sealant (RBS) in preventing/arresting pits and fissures caries in permanent teeth, and 2) What is the retention rate of a hydrophilic RBS as compared to alternative treatments.

Data: Randomized control trials investigating the efficacy of hydrophilic RBS compared to any other (placebo) treatment for permanent teeth. Outcomes were retention rate and caries prevention/arresting.

Objectives: This study aimed to develop an evidence-based community pharmacist-delivered screening model for diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD), and assess its feasibility to identify and refer patients with elevated risk.

Setting: A purposive sample of 12 community pharmacies in three cities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Shaping Ability of ProTaper Universal, ProTaper NEXT and WaveOne Primary in Severely Curved Resin Blocks.

Aim: Complex anatomy of roots requires endodontic rotary instruments that respect and follow that anatomy. The purpose of this study was to compare the shaping ability of three engine-driven nickel-titanium instruments in severely curved simulated canals.

Materials And Methods: Forty-eight severely curved simulated canals in resin blocks were prepared to an apical size of 25 using the following systems (n = 16 per group): ProTaper Universal (PTU), ProTaper NEXT (PTN), and WaveOne Primary (WO) (all Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland).

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the perception of trained dental professionals and laypersons toward the esthetic impact of variations in the vertical position, width, and gingival height of the maxillary lateral incisor.

Materials And Methods: The present study analyzed the perspective of smile photographs by dental professionals such as "fifty orthodontics and fifty general dental practitioners (GDPs)" as well as fifty laypersons, consisting of an equal number of male and female participants. Photographs edited to depict alteration of golden proportion, incisal length, and gingival height of lateral incisor.

Objectives: The study assessed the impact of facial height on attractiveness of smile, in association with the maxillary gingival display. This research was performed by dental professionals and laypersons.

Objective: To assess fluoride concentration in drinking water which include tap water of 4 emirates - Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman plus bottled water, commonly available soft drinks & juices in United Arab Emirates.

Methods: Five different samples of tap water collected from each of the four emirates of UAE: Ajman, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai; twenty-two brands of bottled water and fifteen brands of popular cold beverages, purchased from different supermarkets in U.A.

Enhancing Student Communication Skills Through Arabic Language Competency and Simulated Patient Assessments.

To assess student communication and patient management skill with introduction of Arabic and use of simulated patient assessments to a communication and counseling course. Five, 3-hour tutorials (clinical skill laboratory) were added to the course covering: listening and empathic responding, non-verbal communications, interviewing skills, assertiveness, counseling in special situations: conflict, anger, worry or rushed situations, and professional decision making. Arabic content was introduced to the course to enhance Arabic communications and competence among students.

Arab dentists' refusal to treat HIV positive patients: a survey of recently graduated dentists from three Arab dental schools.

Objective: To assess intended refusal of recent graduates from three Arab dental schools to treat HIV + patients and factors associated with this intention.

Materials And Methods: In 2015, convenience samples of recent dental graduates were included from Libya, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Participants responded to a questionnaire assessing personal background, knowledge of oral manifestations and fluids transmitting HIV, perceived adequacy of training and self-efficacy to manage blood exposures, attitude to risk of infection, moral beliefs and willingness to treat HIV + patients.

An in vitro comparison of three delivery techniques for obturation of root canals in primary molars.

Aim: This in vitro study evaluated the efficacy of three different obturation techniques with regards to quality of two filling pastes-Ca(OH)/iodoform syringe paste and zinc oxide eugenol paste in primary molars.

Methods: Root canals of 45 extracted primary molars were prepared and randomly divided into three groups of 15 teeth each. Group A-canals were filled with Ca(OH)/iodoform syringe paste, Group B-zinc oxide eugenol paste with handheld lentulo spiral and Group C-zinc oxide eugenol paste with rotary lentulo spiral.

Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor of the Larynx:A Case Report.

Introduction: Inflammatory myofibroblastic pseudotumors are initially described in the lung and various extrapulmonary sites such as the orbits, palatine tonsils, ears, gingiva, pterygomaxillary space, and periodontal tissues. These tumors rarely involve the larynx and predilection to the glottis occurs in an indolent manner.

Case Report: This case describes a laryngeal myofibroblastic tumor in a 46-year-old woman who presented with an aggressive tumor that extended to the floor of the mouth and the base of the tongue.

Characteristics of salivary gland tumours in the United Arab Emirates.

Salivary gland tumours (SGT) are relatively rare cancers characterised by striking morphological diversity and wide variation in the global distribution of SGT incidence. Given the proximity to the head and neck structures, management of SGT has been clinically difficult. To the best of our knowledge, there are no epidemiological studies on SGT from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries (GCC).

Odontogenic epithelial stem cells: hidden sources.

The ultimate goal of dental stem cell research is to construct a bioengineered tooth. Tooth formation occurs based on the well-organized reciprocal interaction of epithelial and mesenchymal cells. The dental mesenchymal stem cells are the best explored, but because the human odontogenic epithelium is lost after the completion of enamel formation, studies on these cells are scarce.

Comparison of anesthetic efficacy between lidocaine with and without magnesium sulfate USP 50% for inferior alveolar nerve blocks in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

Introduction: The purpose of this prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was to compare the anesthetic efficacy between lidocaine with and without magnesium sulfate USP 50% for inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) blocks in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

Methods: One hundred patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis of mandibular posterior teeth were selected for the study. The patients received 1 mL magnesium sulfate USP 50% or distilled water (placebo) 1 hour before administration of conventional IAN block.

Methods: Sixty-four S-shaped canals in resin blocks were prepared to an apical size of 25 using Reciproc (VDW, Munich, Germany), WaveOne (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland), OneShape (Micro Méga, Besançon, France), and F360 (Komet Brasseler, Lemgo, Germany) (n = 16 canals/group) systems. Composite images were made from the superimposition of pre- and postinstrumentation images.

Recent developments in β-cell differentiation of pluripotent stem cells induced by small and large molecules.

Human pluripotent stem cells, including human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), hold promise as novel therapeutic tools for diabetes treatment because of their self-renewal capacity and ability to differentiate into beta (β)-cells. Small and large molecules play important roles in each stage of β-cell differentiation from both hESCs and hiPSCs. The small and large molecules that are described in this review have significantly advanced efforts to cure diabetic disease.
