This European consensus statement on essential colposcopy provides standards for the general colposcopist seeing women referred for colposcopy with an abnormal cervical screening test (including cytology and HPV tests) or with a clinically suspicious cervix. The article gives guidance regarding the aims and conduct of colposcopy. Recommendations are provided on colposcopy technique, the management of common colposcopy issues, treatment and follow-up of after treatment of CIN or early stage cervical.

Oncology Unit, University Hospital la Timone Marseille, Marseille, France.

Osteosarcomas (OS) belong to a large family of mesenchymal tumor entities which exhibit heterogenous histological, genetic, and molecular features. Current OS treatment regimen consists of the combination of surgery and intensive multi-agent chemotherapy. Ever since the introduction of chemotherapy, 5-year survival rate among OS patients has improved to 60-75%.

Objective: To develop a modified version of Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skill (OSATS) rating scale for evaluation of surgical skills specific to caesarean and to assess its relevance in documenting the residents' learning curve during their training. Secondarily, to verify the scale's stability to caesarean's level of difficulty and comparing self-assessment to hetero-assessment in order to propose a practical application of this rating scale during residency.

Study Design: We conducted a multicentre observational prospective study, from May 2018 to November 2018.

Norway maple and sycamore produce desiccation-tolerant (orthodox) and desiccation-sensitive (recalcitrant) seeds, respectively. Drying affects reduction and oxidation (redox) status in seeds. Oxidation of methionine to methionine sulfoxide (MetO) and reduction via methionine sulfoxide reductases (Msrs) have never been investigated in relation to seed desiccation tolerance.

Methylation of histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) by Set1/COMPASS occurs co-transcriptionally, and is important for gene regulation. Set1/COMPASS associates with the RNA polymerase II C-terminal domain (CTD) to establish proper levels and distribution of H3K4 methylations. However, details of CTD association remain unclear.

Objectives: Not being able to completely examine the cervical squamocolummar junction (SCJ) in colposcopy after large loop excision of the transformation zone (LLETZ) is an important issue regarding surveillance, as high-grade cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia recurrence risk is high. This study was conducted in order to identify risk factors for post-LLETZ unsatisfactory colposcopy.

Methods: This prospective multicenter observational study was performed in nine French University hospitals, with inclusions running from December 2013 to December 2017.

Background: Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare form of extra-nodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma. PCNSL is a distinct subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, with over 95% of tumors belonging to the diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) group. We have conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) on immunocompetent patients to address the possibility that common genetic variants influence the risk of developing PCNSL.

There is an unmet need for markers predicting the outcome of patients with advanced soft tissue sarcoma (STS) treated with pazopanib. Since toxicity might be related to the anti-tumor activity of the drug, the aim of this study was to determine whether pazopanib-induced proteinuria, hypothyroidism and cardiotoxicity grade 3-4 were associated with outcome. The combined results of the EORTC 62043 and 62072 trials were retrospectively assessed and used in a landmark analysis to evaluate the effect of the toxicities on progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS), using the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression models.

[Pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of occiput posterior presentation during labor].

Persistant occiput posterior (OP) positions are the commonest malpresentations of the fetal head during labor and their diagnosis remains challenging. They are associated to prolonged second stage of labor, prolonged expulsive efforts, labor augmentation, cesarean sections and instrumental deliveries. On the maternal side, severe perineal tears, post-partum hemorrhage or chorioamnionitis are more frequent.

Patterns of recurrence and prognosis in locally advanced FIGO stage IB2 to IIB cervical cancer: Retrospective multicentre study from the FRANCOGYN group.

Eur J Surg Oncol

April 2019

Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Tenon University Hospital, Assistance Publique des Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), University Pierre and Marie Curie, Paris 6, Institut Universitaire de Cancérologie (IUC), 4 rue de la Chine, 75020, Paris, France; INSERM UMR_S_938, University Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris 6, 27 rue de Chaligny, 75012, Paris, France.

Introduction: Evidence-based data describing patterns of recurrence and prognosis in women with FIGO stage IB2 to IIB locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) are scarce. The purpose of this study was to analyse patterns of recurrence in LACC and their correlation with prognosis, depending on FIGO stage, lymph node (LN) status and treatment modalities. The endpoints of this study were the type of recurrence (locoregional or distant, and time to recurrence), the recurrence free survival, the overall survival and the cumulative incidence for both locoregional and distant recurrence.

High-risk human papillomaviruses (HPVs) have been identified as the main contributors to cervical cancer. Despite various diagnostic tools available, including the predominant Papanicolaou test (Pap test), technical limitations affect the efficiency of cervical cancer screening. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of spliced HPV16 E6/E7 mRNA viral loads (VL) for grade 2 or higher cervical intraepithelial neoplasia diagnosis.

Comparison of pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy versus para-aortic lymphadenectomy alone for locally advanced FIGO stage IB2 to IIB cervical cancer using a propensity score matching analysis: Results from the FRANCOGYN study group.

Article Synopsis
  • Pre-treatment evaluation of nodal status is important for women with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC), but the effectiveness of surgical vs. radiological staging is still debated.
  • A study analyzed data from 314 women with FIGO stage IB2-IIB cervical cancer, comparing two surgical techniques: exclusive para-aortic lymphadenectomy (PAL) and comprehensive pelvic + para-aortic lymphadenectomy (P-PAL).
  • Results showed no significant difference in recurrence rates and overall survival between the two groups, though women with lymph node metastases had improved recurrence-free survival with P-PAL.

Sea anemones are a remarkable source of active principles due to a decentralized venom system. New blood vessel growth or angiogenesis is a very promising target against cancer, but the few available antiangiogenic compounds have limited efficacy. In this study, a protein fraction, purified from tentacles of , was able to limit endothelial cells proliferation and angiogenesis at low concentration (14 nM).

The finding that meningeal solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) and meningeal hemangiopericytomas (HPCs) are both characterized by NAB2-STAT6 gene fusion has pushed their inclusion in the WHO 2016 Classification of tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) as different manifestations of the same entity. Given that the clinical behavior of the CNS SFT/HPC spectrum ranges from benign to malignant, it is presently unclear whether the grading criteria are still adequate. Here, we present the results of a study that analyzed the prognostic value of an updated version of the Marseille Grading System (MGS) in a retrospectively assembled cohort of 132 primary meningeal SFTs/HPCs with nuclear overexpression of STAT6.
