We herein have developed a mild approach for the fabrication of glauconite clay (G)-modified chitosan (CS) nanocomposites by the combination of a simple blending and crosslinking method. The chitosan was modified with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), glutaraldehyde (GL), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), and cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB). The as-prepared composites were identified using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), nitrogen physical adsorption (BET), atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AA), and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA).

Objectives: We aimed to compare health-related quality of life (HrQoL) in patients who underwent ileal conduit (IC) vs orthotopic neobladder (ONB) as a method of urinary diversion (UD) after radical cystectomy (RC) for invasive bladder cancers.

Methods: The questionnaires of the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Bladder Cancer (FACT-BL) were used to evaluate and compare the HrQoL in 113 patients with 1 year follow-up.

Results: Forty-nine patients were included in the ONB group and 64 patients in the IC group.

Background: Programed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) is a key mediator for the development of T cell exhaustion that develops in response to persistent antigen stimulation.

Aim: In this study, we measured PD1 expression on CD3 positive bone marrow T-lymphocytes in newly diagnosis AML patients and its relation to clinical/ prognostic outcomes in addition to response to induction therapy (day 28).

Methods: This study was conducted on 59 newly diagnosed AML patients and 20 healthy controls.

Maintaining the continued flow of benefits from science, as well as societal support for science, requires sustained engagement between the research community and the general public. On the basis of data from an international survey of 1092 participants (634 established researchers and 458 students) in 55 countries and 315 research institutions, we found that institutional recognition of engagement activities is perceived to be undervalued relative to the societal benefit of those activities. Many researchers report that their institutions do not reward engagement activities despite institutions' mission statements promoting such engagement.

Background And Aim: Polymorphisms in some genes may influence the persistence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, clinical outcome, HCV replication, and liver damage. This study was conducted to investigate the role of the interferon gamma (IFN-γ) gene at (+874 T/A, -764 G/C, -179 C/A) single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and its receptor (IFN-γR2) at (rs 2786067 A/C) SNP in the susceptibility of Egyptian families to HCV infection with high-resolution techniques.

Methods: In total, 517 Egyptian families, with 2246 subjects, were recruited to this study from the Upper and Lower Egypt governorates and were classified into three groups: 1034 patients with chronic hepatitis C virus, 108 subjects with spontaneous virus clearance (SVC), and 1104 subjects as a healthy control group.

Background And Aim: Many studies have found a relationship between hepatic iron, serum ferritin, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) or its progress. The aim of this study is to assess the value of serum ferritin as a non-invasive marker in the prediction of hepatic fibrosis in NAFLD.

Methods: This study included 113 subjects who were classified into three groups.

Background: This study examined the effects of addition of 10% and 25% by weight calcium hydroxide on the physicochemical properties of Portland cement associated with 20% bismuth oxide in order to develop a new pulp capping material.

Material And Methods: The solubility, pH value, setting time, compressive strength, and push out bond strength of modified Portland were evaluated and compared to those of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Portland cement containing 20% bismuth oxide.

Results: The statistical analysis was performed with ANOVA and Duncan's post-hoc test.
