Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the top five causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. We developed a novel technique to identify cancer-related genes of HCC as follows: triple-combination array analysis, which combines gene expression profiles, single nucleotide polymorphism arrays, and methylation arrays.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has a high likelihood of recurrence and a poor prognosis. To detect cancer-related genes of HCC, we developed a new technique: triple combination array analysis, consisting of a methylation array, a gene expression array and a single nucleotide polymorphism array. A surgical specimen obtained from a 68-year-old female HCC patient was analyzed using triple combination array, which identified cyclin J (CCNJ) as a candidate cancer-related gene of HCC.

The aim of this study was to investigate the 3-year morbidity of coronectomy of the lower third molar and to monitor the behaviour and migration pattern of the retained roots postoperatively. A total of 92 patients (111 teeth) who had undergone a coronectomy between October 2005 and July 2009 were investigated. In this work, a natural polysaccharide gellan gum (GG) has been modified with methacrylic groups (GG-MA) and combined with polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate (PEG-DMA) in order to create novel injectable hydrogels that can be easily delivered through a needle and photocross-linked in the injection site. A novel synthetic procedure for methacrylation of GG has been proposed to better control its derivatization. Different degrees of functionalization have been achieved and their effects on the solubility and mechanical properties of GG-MA were investigated.

Objective: To clarify the reproducibility of a tentative method for identifying maxillofacial landmarks on three-dimensional (3D) images obtained with cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) for dental use in patients with mandibular prognathism. Materials And Methods: The clinical and morphologic features of the mandibular ramus, obtained from computed tomographic images (n=50), were analyzed to predict the surgical time, the time required for ablation of the medial mandibular ramus, and the time required for sectioning of the mandible in performing a modified Obwegeser SSRO.

Results: Significant factors associated with surgical time were an anterior border of the ramus at least 10.
