A 60-something woman had a pancreatic tumor discovered after previously undergoing a hysterectomy for uterine leiomyoma.
An endoscopic ultrasound procedure showed unusual cancerous cells that initially suggested a pancreatic GIST, leading to surgery for tumor removal.
Post-surgery analysis revealed the pancreatic tumor matched the low-grade leiomyosarcoma from her earlier uterine diagnosis, confirming it as a rare case of metastatic leiomyosarcoma from the uterus to the pancreas, highlighting the challenges of diagnosing with EUS-FNA.
