Assessing the Relationship Between COVID-19 and Dental Decay Risk in Youth: A Retrospective Analysis.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has significantly impacted public health globally, with particular attention on the effects on children, adolescents, and young adults. This study aimed to investigate the potential relationship between COVID-19 and caries risk in this age group.

Methods: A retrospective chart review was conducted on 120 patients between the ages of six and 25 years who received dental treatment at a university-affiliated dental clinic between January 2020 and December 2021.

Removable versus fixed myo-functional appliances in class II malocclusion among Indians.

It is of interest to compare two myofunctional appliances (frankal appliance and twin bloc) and two fixed orthodontic appliances (PowerScope and Forsus) in management of class II div 1 malocclusion. A total of 56 Class II division 1 malocclusion patients indicated for treatment with myofunctional appliances and fixed functional appliances were randomized. They were equally divided among frankal appliance (n=14), twin block appliance (n=14), PowerScope (American Orthodontics) (n=14), Forsus (3M Unitek Corp) groups (n=14).

Evaluation of Skeletal and Dentoalveolar Changes in Patients With Class II Div 1 Malocclusion Treated With Twin Block Appliance.

Objective The study was focused on evaluating the change in mandibular morphology following the Twin Block appliance therapy and recording its effect on the maxilla and maxillary dentoalveolar complex. Comparison of bite force evaluation for mandibular angle fracture fixation by conventional miniplates versus new design miniplates: a clinical study.

Purpose: To evaluate postoperative masticatory efficacy of a new design non-compression titanium miniplate compared to conventional non-compression titanium miniplate on the basis of bite force for treatment of mandibular angle fractures.

Methodology: The prospective study included 20 patients with mandibular angle fractures randomly categorized into 2 groups: Group I, fixation of angle fractures by conventional miniplates, and Group II, fixation of angle fractures by new design miniplates. Evaluation was done for clinical outcome, primarily bite force; radiological outcome; and associated postoperative morbidities at different time intervals.

Introduction: Patients with periodontitis are significantly more likely to have undetected diabetes mellitus (DM). Self‑monitoring devices like glucometers provide a simple method for rapid monitoring of the glucose level in blood by utilizing a blood sample from the finger, but this method requires puncturing to obtain blood. Bleeding from the gingival sulcus, obtained during oral hygiene examination, can be utilized for screening DM patients.

Evaluation of Efficacy of Ultrasonography as an Additional Diagnostic Tool for Deciding Management Protocol of Odontogenic Superficial Fascial Space Infections: A Prospective Clinical Study.

Objective: To explore the efficacy of ultrasonography as an additional diagnostic tool in superficial odontogenic fascial space infections of maxillofacial region and modifying the treatment plan when needed.

Materials And Methods: Forty patients with superficial fascial space infections underwent a detailed clinical, plain radiological and ultrasonographic examination. Based on the ultrasonographic findings, final diagnosis was made and compared with clinical findings.

Is "Bite force" a reliable parameter to compare masticatory efficiency restoration following ORIF of anterior mandibular fractures?

Objectives: Mandible is an integral part of masticatory system, and it is expected that it's fracture will have a significant impact on occlusal forces, range of motion, muscle activity levels, and occlusion. The main objective of this study was to compare the efficacy of 3-dimensional (3D) miniplate and conventional miniplates for fixation of anterior mandibular fractures on the basis of bite force as a main parameter.

Methods: 66 patients having isolated anterior mandibular fractures were randomized into two groups equally: Conventional miniplates and 3D miniplates.

Identifying Gingival Pigmentation Patterns and Skin Color and Its Co-relation With Serum Ferritin Levels in Thalassemic Patients.

Background: Patients with β-thalassemia major (β-TM), a genetic issue due to hemoglobin (Hb) synthesis disorder, require life-long erythrocyte transfusion.
