Aim: To assess the volumetric bone changes in double barrel vascularized fibular flap used for mandibular reconstruction using 3D miniplate versus 3D titanium mesh tray.
Materials And Methods: Twenty patients seeking mandibular reconstruction were selected for this 2-arm parallel randomized clinical trial with a 1:1 allocation ratio. Both groups underwent double-barrel fibula free flap for mandibular reconstruction with fixation of the superior barrel to the inferior barrel using a Titanium mesh (Group A) or a 3D plate (Group B).

: Endoscopic biliary plastic stenting is a safe and effective temporary therapeutic modality used in various benign biliary disorders. Long-term indwelling stents for more than one year without retrieval are termed "forgotten biliary stents". In clinical practice, the forgotten stents are underestimated and the majority of data were obtained from case reports.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major global health concern, particularly in Egypt, due to historic schistosomiasis control efforts that inadvertently led to widespread HCV transmission. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Egypt's national strategies in controlling and reducing the prevalence of HCV, including introducing sofosbuvir and implementing the "100 Million Healthy Lives" campaign. The approach includes a review of epidemiological data, an analysis of the national HCV control strategies implemented, and an assessment of their outcomes, focusing on the period from 2006 to 2022.

Liver cirrhosis is a condition with high mortality that poses a significant health and economic burden worldwide. The clinical characteristics of liver cirrhosis are complex and varied. Therefore, the evaluation of immune infiltration-involved genes incirrhosis has become mandatory in liver disease research, not only to identify the potential biomarkers but also to provide important insights into the underlying mechanisms of the disease.

Background: Type I diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is one of the most common chronic autoimmune diseases worldwide. miRNAs are a class of small non-coding RNA molecules that have been linked to immune system functions, β-cell metabolism, proliferation, and death, all of which contribute to pathogenesis of TIDM. Dysregulated miRNAs have been identified in Egyptian TIDM patients.

Background: Due to rarity of duodenal GISTs, clinicians have few information about its clinical features, diagnosis, management and prognosis.
Case Report: We report a case of promptly diagnosed duodenal GIST in a 61-year-old Egyptian man presented shocked with severe attack of hematemesis and melena. Upper gastroduodenal endoscopy was done and revealed a large ulcerating bleeding mass at first part of duodenum 4 hemo-clips were applied with good hemostasis.

: Functional gastric stenosis, a consequence of sleeve gastrectomy, is defined as a rotation of the gastric tube along its longitudinal axis. It is brought on by gastric twisting without the anatomical constriction of the gastric lumen. During endoscopic examination, the staple line is deviated with a clockwise rotation, and the stenosis requires additional endoscopic manipulations for its transposition.

Background: Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder which can lead to severe complications, particularly in the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, potentially resulting in arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension (PH), and cardiomegaly. This study aims to investigate the risk of PH and arrhythmias in adult SCD patients.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of medical records from King Abdulaziz University Hospital (KAUH) for patients with SCD aged 15 and above between 2009 and 2021.

Introduction Through plausible biological mechanisms, periodontitis causes systemic inflammatory burden and response, thus resulting in damage far beyond the oral cavity. Studies have demonstrated periodontitis to be a significant risk factor for coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke. The larger the quantum of periodontal inflamed tissue, the greater the chances of periodontitis eliciting bacteremia and systemic inflammatory responses.

Introduction: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is rich in factors that play a role in stem cell recruitment, inflammation modulation, and angiogenesis. With numerous preclinical and clinical studies exploring PRP as a potential treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED), this study focused on assessing the effectiveness of intracorporeal PRP injection for ED patients based on randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
Objectives: The study sought to evaluate the efficacy and safety of intracorporeal injection of PRP in treating ED through a systematic review and meta-analysis of RCTs.
Background: Atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery (POAF) is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Several scores were used to predict POAF, with variable results. Thus, this study assessed the performance of several scoring systems to predict POAF after mitral valve surgery.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of oral glutamine suspension on salivary levels of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1), a cytokine involved in inflammation and Tumor progression, and the severity of radiation-induced oral mucositis (RIOM) in head and neck cancer patients. This is the first study to investigate the impact of glutamine on TGF-β1 levels in head and neck cancer patients with radiation induced oral mucositis (RIOM).
Methods: In this randomized controlled clinical trial, 50 HNC patients were enrolled and received either glutamine oral suspension or maltodextrin as a placebo from the baseline of RIOM to the end of radiotherapy.

Background: The wound-healing process in diabetic foot is affected by pro and anti-inflammatory markers, and any disruption in the inflammatory reaction interferes with tissue homeostasis, leading to chronic non-wound healing.
Aim: This study aimed to determine the diagnostic value and effect of CRP, IL-6, TNF, and HbA1c on initiation the and progression of diabetic foot ulcers.
Method: ELISA was used to quantify IL-6, TNF, CRP, and HbA1c in 205 patients with diabetes, and 105 were diabetic foot free.

Introduction: Adaptive radiotherapy (ART) is an essential approach to account for anatomical and biological uncertainties. Adaptive radiotherapy is, however, time-consuming, and it is unclear which patients are eligible or when is the best time to start ART.
Methods: This prospective study was conducted at Kasr El-Aini Center of Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, Cairo, Egypt from January 2019 to December 2020.

Background: Mandibular angle is the most common site for fractures, accounting for 23-42% of all cases of mandibular fractures. A customized fixation system is designed directly for a specific patient, which reduces the time spent bending and fixing the plate during the operation. This study was designed to assess the effect of CAD/CAM customized V pattern plate versus standard miniplates fixation in mandibular angle fracture.

Background: Leptin (LEP) is an anti-obesity hormone that regulates food intake, energy expenditure, and glucose metabolism. The genetic variants in LEP and the LEP receptor (LEPR) gene may play an important role in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity. The current study aimed to investigate the association of serum LEP levels, and LEP polymorphisms in LEP (rs7799039, 2548 G/A) with T2DM in Egyptian patients.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and especially in Egypt. Early diagnosis of HCC greatly improves the survival and prognosis of patients. Low sensitivity and specificity of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) has led to the demand for novel biomarkers of HCC.
