Malaria remains a significant global health challenge, with the deadliest infections caused by . In light of the escalating drug resistance and the limited effectiveness of available vaccines, innovative treatment approaches are urgently needed. This study explores the potential of the probiotic YZ01, isolated from traditionally fermented kindirmo milk, to modify host responses to ANKA infection.

Uncertainty of data, the degree to which data are inaccurate, imprecise, untrusted, and undetermined, is inherent in many contemporary database applications, and numerous research endeavours have been devoted to efficiently answer skyline queries over uncertain data. The literature discussed two different methods that could be used to handle the data uncertainty in which objects having continuous range values. The first method employs a probability-based approach, while the second assumes that the uncertain values are represented by their median values.

Unlabelled: Livestock-associated methicillin-resistant (LA-MRSA), such as clonal-complex (CC)398, are of clinical relevance due to their multi-drug resistance profiles, adding to the overall burden of MRSA in humans. The objective was to evaluate the double-zone hemolysis (DZH) test as a simple and reliable method for detecting LA-MRSA in the clinical microbiology laboratory. isolates assigned to CC398 ( = 183; 152 MRSA/31 methicillin-susceptible [MSSA]), CC1 ( = 44; MRSA), and other CCs ( = 144; 94 MRSA/50 MSSA) were investigated.

The multiple mutation of the spike (S) protein of the Omicron SARS-CoV-2 variant is a major concern, as it has been implicated in the severity of COVID-19 and its complications. These mutations have been attributed to COVID-19-infected immune-compromised individuals, with HIV patients being suspected to top the list. The present study investigated the mutation of the S protein of the omicron variant in comparison to the Delta and Wuhan variants.

Introduction: The cowpea weevil, Fab., is the most economically important storage pest of cowpeas, causing up to 100 percent grain losses within six months of storage. To sustainably resist weevil damage, the cowpea cultivar IT86D-1010 was genetically modified via -mediated transformation to produce event CSI-32, which expresses the kidney bean alpha-amylase inhibitor 1 (αAI-1) protein exclusively in the seed, providing suppression of weevil development.

Background: Helicobacter Pylori infection occurs worldwide. Patients with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) may present with abdominal symptoms due to different pathophysiological mechanisms. SCD patients are predisposed to infections due to immune deficiency, abdominal symptoms like dyspepsia and recurrent abdominal pain have been associated with infection.

Background: Neurofibromas are the most common benign nerve sheath tumours occurring as solitary sporadic tumours or multiple Syndromic tumours associated with neurofibromatosis type 1(NF1). In Nigeria and West Africa, there is a paucity of literature and studies on neurofibromas. This study aims to analyse the histopathologic and immunohistochemical patterns of neurofibromas and determine the frequency, demographic and anatomic distributions.

Background/objectives: Limited resources and staffing hinders efforts to reduce preventable blindness, especially in low- to middle-income countries. The slit-lamp examination (SLE), which is essential for ophthalmology practices, is often unavailable in primary and secondary eye care facilities due to the high costs and lengthy training required for operation. We conducted a cross-sectional, multicentre study exploring the potential for a smart eye camera (SEC; a tele-ophthalmology handheld device developed by OUI Inc.

Leptospirosis caused by the pathogenic serovars of Leptospira spp. is a zoonotic disease of global importance. Brown rats (Rattus norvegicus), due to their worldwide distribution and reservoir host status, are considered the most important reservoir for environmental leptospiral persistence and infections in animals.

The increasing resistance of Plasmodium parasites to currently available antiplasmodial therapies poses a significant challenge in treating malaria. Since ancient times, plants have served as a primary source of novel pharmacologically active compounds for drug development. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the antiplasmodial properties of pentacyclic triterpenes isolated from Ziziphus mucronata bark, with an emphasis on their mechanism of action.

Introduction: Thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1) is a key protein product of activated platelets which is significantly increased in sickle cell vaso-occlusive crisis (VOC) and other inflammatory conditions. This study aims to determine TSP-1 levels and their relationship with platelet indices and inflammation.
Objective: To evaluate TSP-1 levels in sickle cell anaemia (SCA) patients and assess their relationship with platelet indices and inflammation.
