High internal phase Pickering emulsions (HIPPEs) stabilized by food grade particles have received much attention as deliver vehicles for bioactives in recent years. In this study, ultrasonic treatment was conducted to regulate the size of silkworm pupa protein (SPP) particles, fabricating oil-in-water (O/W) HIPPEs with intestinal releasability. Briefly, the pretreated SPP and SPP-stabilized HIPPEs were characterized, and the targeting release was investigated using in vitro gastrointestinal simulations and sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

The relationship between legume cotyledon cell wall and macromolecular nutrient digestibility has attracted increased attention. In this study, the effect of solid-state fermentation by Rhizopus oligosporus RT-3 on the digestibility of red kidney bean protein and its relationship with cotyledon cell integrity were investigated. Buccal digestion and gastrointestinal digestion were performed to compare the fate of protein between unfermented (F0) and fermented samples.

Herein, a dual-mode method based on fluorescent and colorimetric sensor was developed for determination of organophosphate pesticides (OPs). In this study, indoxyl acetate (IDA) was hydrolyzed by esterase into indophenol. Indophenol leads to changes in fluorescence signal and aggregation of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs); ultimately changing the color from red to blue.

Anthocyanins play an important role in the growth of plants, and are beneficial to human health. In plants, the MYB-bHLH-WD40 (MBW) complex activates the genes for anthocyanin biosynthesis. However, in rice, the WD40 regulators remain to be conclusively identified.

Herein, a novel visual method for detecting triazophos based on competitive bio-barcode immunoassay was described. The competitive immunoassay was established by gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), magnetic microparticle (MMPs) and triazophos, combined with biochip hybridization system to detect the residual of triazophos in water and apple. Because AuNPs carried many bio-barcodes, which hybridized with labeled DNA on the biochip, catalyzed signal amplification using silver staining was detected by grayscale values as well as the naked eye.

The potential for tristyrylphenol ethoxylates (TSPEOs) residues to contaminate crops or be released into the environment is of increasing concern, as they are toxic to living organisms. This study determined the dissipation of TSPEO homologues in cucumber under field conditions. TSPEOn (n = 6-29) dissipated more rapidly in cucumber than in soil samples, with half-lives of 1.

Acetylcholinesterase inactivating compounds, such as organophosphate (OP) and carbamate (CM) pesticides, are widely used in agriculture to ensure sustainable production of food and feed. As a consequence of their applications, they would result in neurotoxicity, even death. In this essence, the development of enzyme inhibition methods still shows great significance as rapid detection techniques for on-site large-scale screening of OPs and CMs.

Herein, we developed a multi-analyte fluorescence immunoassay for detection of three organophosphate pesticides (triazophos, parathion, and chlorpyrifos) in various agro-products (rice, wheat, cucumber, cabbage, and apple) using fluorescently labeled oligonucleotide and gold nanoparticle (AuNP) signal amplification technology. The AuNP probes for the three analytes were constructed by simultaneously modifying the corresponding antibodies and fluorescently labeled oligonucleotides on the probe surface. Three fluorophores (6-FAM, Cy3, and Texas red) with high fluorescence intensity and little overlap of excitation/emission wavelengths were selected.

With the rapid development of nanotechnology, the bio-barcode assay (BCA), as a new diagnostic tool, has been gradually applied to the detection of protein and nucleic acid targets and small-molecule compounds. BCA has the advantages of high sensitivity, short detection time, simple operation, low cost, good repeatability and good linear relationship between detection results. However, bio-barcode technology is not yet fully formed as a complete detection system, and the detection process in all aspects and stages is unstable.

In this work, using an agricultural waste of sugarcane bagasse, new biomass of magnetic sugarcane bagasse activated carbon (MSBAC) has been successfully prepared by a simple microwave method. The composition and structure of MSBAC were characterised by SEM, XRD, BET, and FT-IR. It was found that MSBAC was a mesoporous material with a loose structure and rough surface, and it had a high specific surface area.

A novel and highly sensitive enzyme inhibition assay was developed for the rapid detection of the organophosphate pesticide dichlorvos and the carbamate pesticide carbofuran. It achieves signal amplification by the secondary catalysis of platinum nanoparticles. Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is capable of catalyzing the hydrolysis of acetylthiocholine to form thiocholine.

Here, we developed a novel non-enzymatic rapid testing method for determination of organophosphate pesticide (malathion) in water. In principle, target molecule can block the Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between chemical fluorescent probe (energy donor) and β-cyclodextrin-coated silver nanoparticles (@AgNP) (receptor). The effects of malathion on the dynamics of fluorescent probe and β-cyclodextrin@AgNP were evaluated and their properties were further characterized.
