April 2023

Institute of Food Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Key Laboratory of Agro-products Quality and Safety Control in Storage and Transport Process, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Beijing 100093, PR China. Electronic address:

The honeysuckle was widely appreciated as tea beverage owing to the biological activities and the unique aroma and flavor. It is in urgent requirement to explore the migration behavior and dietary exposure as the pesticide residues would bring about potential risks through honeysuckle intake. The optimized QuEChERS procedure coupled with the HPLC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS methods were employed to determine 93 pesticide residues of seven classifications including carbamates, pyrethroid, triazoles, neonicotinoids, organophosphorus, organochlorine, and others for 93 honeysuckle samples from four primary production bases.

The inclusion of undeclared cow's milk proteins may cause health complications to milk-allergic consumers and is one of the leading cause of food recall in many countries all over the world. Therefore, to keep control on such incidences in processed products, we established a milk sandwich ELISA test kit by incorporating two polyclonal antibodies against milk proteins obtained from different species. Its analytical effectiveness in terms of sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, trueness, and precision were all analyzed.

Wheat allergy has become a global public health and food safety concern; however, there is no accessible cure for wheat allergy. The complete exclusion of wheat-containing foods and environmental exposure is the most efficient allergy management to avoid the adverse reactions, which can be severe and occasionally life threatening. Therefore, the assay for accurate detection of wheat residues is demanded urgently for appropriate labeling guidelines and consumer safety.

A dual-signal fluorescent sensor was developed for tetracycline (TET) detection in milk with excellent reproducibility and stability. In this protocol, molybdenum disulfide quantum dots (MoS QDs) with blue fluorescence and cadmium telluride quantum dots (CdTe QDs) with yellow fluorescence were synthesized to establish the MoS/CdTe-based sensor with two fluorescence emission peaks at 433 nm and 573 nm. With the addition of TET, the fluorescence of MoS/CdTe were quenched by photoinduced electron transfer (PET), and the fluorescence of CdTe QDs were quenched more obvious than MoS QDs.

Objective: To establish a multiplex real-time fluorescent PCR rapid detection method for simultaneous detection of aflatoxin-producing fungi and three latent toxin-producing fungi in a single system.

Methods: Primers and probes were designed based on the protein activation genes AflR, ITS sequence, β-tubulin coding region and LS rRNA of aflatoxin-producing fungi, Aspergillusochraceus, Penicillium and Fusarium, respectively. A real-time fluorescent PCR method for simultaneous detection of commontoxin-producing fungi was performed, and the sensitivity and specificity of the method were analyzed by optimizing the reaction components and reaction conditions.

In this paper, we report a newly developed non-target H NMR detection associated with chemometrics method to classify the botanical and geographical origins of the monofloral Chinese honey. H NMR tests of 218 monofloral honey samples of 8 classes (Acacia, Jujube, Linden, Longan, Orange, Rape, Sunflower, Vitex) collected in 2017-2019 across China were conducted under the optimal sample preparation conditions and NMR acquisition parameters. The whole profiles of NMR spectra instead of individual or partial signals from specific components were processed and extracted, then fed to SIMCA-P to classify the botanical and geographical origins through non-target statistical analysis.

Currently, the authentication of camellia oil (CAO) has become very important due to the possible adulteration of CAO with cheaper vegetable oils such as rapeseed oil (RSO). Therefore, we report a Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic method for detecting the authenticity of CAO and quantifying the blended levels of RSO. In this study, two characteristic spectral bands (1119 cm and 1096 cm) were selected and used for monitoring the purity of CAO.

In this study, an effective speed-regulated directly suspended droplet microextraction method was developed to condense pesticide residues from teas through dispersive solid-phase extraction prior to analysis by gas chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry. The extractant was intentionally dispersed into the sample solution in the form of globules through high-speed agitation. This procedure increases the contact area between the binary phases and shortens the distribution equilibrium time.

Agro-product Safety Research Center, Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine, Beijing, 100123, People's Republic of China. Electronic address:

To standardize the rice-specific quantification methods, the criteria of six genes of rice (gos9, PLD, SPS, RBE4, ppi-PPF and oriazain) were compared and evaluated by ddPCR. The results revealed that SPS, RBE4 and ppi-PPF were single copy genes per haploid genome and species specificity and stable among different rice cultivars, by employing Lectin gene of soybean as internal reference gene. The established ddPCR systems were precise and reliable with an absolute LOQ of 10-20 copies/reaction.

June 2018

Agro-product Safety Research Center, Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine, Beijing, People's Republic of China.

Background: Edible bird's nests (EBNs) have been traditionally regarded as a kind of medicinal and healthy food in China. For economic reasons, they are frequently subjected to adulteration with some cheaper substitutes, such as Tremella fungus, agar, fried pigskin, and egg white. As a kind of precious and functional product, it is necessary to establish a robust method for the rapid authentication of EBNs with small amounts of samples by simple processes.
