In this study, a sensitive and selective electrochemical immunosensor for cephalexin (CEX) determination on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface was modified by a carboxylated single-walled carbon nanotubes/chitosan (SWNTs-COOH/CS) composite. The SWNTs-COOH/CS composite was used to enhance sensor performance and to enlarge the electrochemical response of CEX. The cephalosporin-ovalbumin coupling (CEX-OVA) was synthesized using the reactive ester method.

The present study investigates the effects of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) exposure on reproductive toxicity and uterine apoptosis in pregnant mice. Sixty pregnant mice were randomly divided into 6 groups (groups A, B, C, D, E and F). In control group (A), the mice received distilled water at 10 mg/kg body weight per day on gestation days (GD) 1 to 17.

Excessive organic acids in grape juice will not only result in poor taste but will also cause turbidity and sedimentation. Tartaric acid exerts the most significant acidity among all organic acids in grape juice. In this study, we used tartaric acid as the main target and anion-exchange resin to remove tartaric acid from concentrated grape juice.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze the genetic diversity and population structure of goats in the Yangtze River region using microsatellite and mtDNA techniques to understand how natural landscapes affect goat genetics.
  • Research found high genetic variability in 16 goat populations, indicating a complex clustering pattern and genetic exchange across different geographical areas.
  • Phylogenetic analysis revealed 173 haplotypes, primarily belonging to lineages A and B, with evidence of historical migration patterns that may have introduced west Asian goat genetics into the region.

A novel on-line two-step stacking preconcentration method by sweeping plus micelle to solvent stacking in capillary zone electrophoresis was developed for the simultaneous determination of three organic anions (vanillic acid, ferulic acid and cinnamic acid) in . Hexadimethrine bromide was used for electroosmotic flow reversal. The main experimental parameters that affected the separation and sensitivity were investigated and optimized.

Responses of Nitrogen Utilization and Apparent Nitrogen Loss to Different Control Measures in the Wheat and Maize Rotation System.

Front Plant Sci

February 2017

International Centre for Applied Climate Sciences, University of Southern Queensland, ToowoombaQLD, Australia; Computational Engineering and Science Research Centre, University of Southern Queensland, ToowoombaQLD, Australia.

Nitrogen (N) is an essential macronutrient for plant growth and excessive application rates can decrease crop yield and increase N loss into the environment. Field experiments were carried out to understand the effects of N fertilizers on N utilization, crop yield and net income in wheat and maize rotation system of the North China Plain (NCP). Compared to farmers' N rate (FN), the yield of wheat and maize in reduction N rate by 21-24% based on FN (RN) was improved by 451 kg ha, N uptakes improved by 17 kg ha and net income increased by 1671 CNY ha, while apparent N loss was reduced by 156 kg ha.

Senescence is not only an important developmental process, but also a responsive regulation to abiotic and biotic stress for plants. Stay-green protein plays crucial roles in plant senescence and chlorophyll degradation. However, the underlying mechanisms were not well-studied, particularly in non-model plants.

Microspore Induced Doubled Haploids Production from Ethyl Methanesulfonate (EMS) Soaked Flower Buds Is an Efficient Strategy for Mutagenesis in Chinese Cabbage.

Front Plant Sci

November 2016

Key Laboratory of Vegetable Germplasm and Utilization of Hebei, Collaborative Innovation Center of Vegetable Industry in Hebei, College of Horticulture, Agricultural University of Hebei Baoding, China.

Chinese cabbage buds were soaked with Ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) to induce mutagenesis. The influence of different EMS concentrations and treatment durations on microspore development, embryo production rate and seedling rate were evaluated in five Chinese cabbage genotypes. Mutations in four color-related genes were identified using high resolution melting (HRM) curves of their PCR products.

The AP2/ERF superfamily, one of the most important transcription factor families, plays crucial roles in response to biotic and abiotic stresses. So far, a comprehensive evolutionary inference of its origination and expansion has not been available. Here, we identified 515 AP2/ERF genes in B.

Peanut diseases, such as leaf spot and spotted wilt caused by Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus, can significantly reduce yield and quality. Application of marker assisted plant breeding requires the development and validation of different types of DNA molecular markers. Nearly 10,000 SSR-based molecular markers have been identified by various research groups around the world, but less than 14.

Populus tomentosa (Chinese white poplar) is well adapted to various extreme environments, and is considered an important species to study the effects of salinity stress on poplar trees. To decipher the mechanism of poplar's rapid response to short-term salinity stress, we firstly detected the changes in H2O2 and hormone, and then profiled the gene expression pattern of 10-week-old seedling roots treated with 200 mM NaCl for 0, 6, 12, and 24 h (h) by RNA-seq on the Illumina-Solexa platform. Physiological determination showed that the significant increase in H2O2 began at 6 h, while that in hormone ABA was at 24 h, under salt stress.

Dryocrassin ABBA, a novel active substance for use against amantadine-resistant H5N1 avian influenza virus.

Front Microbiol

July 2015

Key Lab of Animal Epidemiology and Zoonosis, Ministry of Agriculture, College of Veterinary Medicine, China Agricultural University Beijing, China.

The occurrence of multi-drug resistant highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAIV) strains highlights the urgent need for strategies for the prevention and control of avian influenza virus. The aim of our current study is to evaluate the antiviral activity of dryocrassin ABBA isolated from Rhizoma Dryopteridis Crassirhizomatis (RDC) against an amantadine-resistant H5N1 (A/Chicken/Hebei/706/2005) strain in a mouse model. Post inoculation with HPAIV H5N1 virus in mice, the survival rate was 87, 80, and 60% respectively in the 33, 18, and 12.
