Scientific development provides opportunities to replace many traditional manual methods to achieve more accurate results and higher efficiency. To scientifically ascertain the geographical origin of coffee, this study develops a method for the rapid determination of 16 inorganic elements in coffee using microwave digestion combined with the ICP-MS internal standard method. Principal component analysis (PCA), Fisher discriminant analysis (FDA), and Partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) are employed to analyze 40 coffee samples from three production areas of Pu'er, Baoshan, and Wanning.

Given the heterogeneity of raw materials, the diversity of composting processes, and the complexity of biological transformations, systematically exploring the critical role of the initial carbon-to-nitrogen (C/N) ratio in the aerobic composting of agricultural residues is challenging within a single experimental study. This study employs meta-analysis to investigate this role. Statistical analysis of 192 scholarly articles confirmed that most studies adhere to the recommended optimal initial C/N range of 25 and 30, where enhanced compost maturity and nutrient accumulation are observed.

Wearable electronic sensors have recently attracted tremendous attention in applications such as personal health monitoring, human movement detection, and sensory skins as they offer a promising alternative to counterparts made from traditional metallic conductors and bulky metallic conductors. However, the real-world use of most wearable sensors is often hindered by their limited stretchability and sensitivity, and ultimately, their difficulty to integrate into textiles. To overcome these limitations, wearable sensors can incorporate flexible conductive fibers as electrically active components.

Banana starch has attracted significant attention due to its abundant content of resistant starch. This study aims to compare the multiscale structure and functional properties of banana starch obtained from five cultivated varieties and investigate the impact of dielectric barrier discharge cold plasma (DBD) treatment on these starch characteristics. All five types of natural banana starch exhibited an elliptical and irregular shape, conforming to the CB crystal structure, with a bimodal distribution of branch chain lengths.

The knowledge of agarose (AG) oxidation using periodate as oxidizer has not been systematically explored. This paper synthesized oxidized agarose (OAG) using solid-sate and solution reaction methods; the reaction mechanism and the properties of OAG samples were systematically evaluated. Chemical structure analysis disclosed that the aldehyde group and carboxyl group contents in all OAG samples are extremely low.

Chitosan (CS) is a biodegradable, biocompatible, and non-toxic natural amino-poly-saccharide with antibacterial ability, owing to its positively charged amino groups. However, the low charge density leads to poor antibacterial efficiency which cannot meet the biomedical application requirements. In this study, Tobramycin (TOB) was grafted onto the backbone of oxidized chitosan (OCS) to synthesize oxidized chitosan-tobramycin (OCS-TOB).

In this paper, a cationic photoinitiator (TAS) was used as a catalyst for the ring opening reaction of carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) and epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) under UV light to prepare CMCS-g-ESO conjugate, and the structure of the product was characterized by FT-IR, H NMR and GPC. Then, the spinosad-loaded microcapsules (SSD@CMCS-g-ESO) were prepared by ultrasonic self-assembly method. The results showed that TAS could catalyze the ring opening reaction of CMCS and ESO under UV-irradiation and the optimum reaction time was 1 h, with the molecular weight of 15,745.

As a natural antibacterial agent with pleasant fragrance, citral possesses low aqueous solubility. To improve citral loading in hydrophilic nanofiber, Pickering emulsion electrospinning strategy was proposed for anti-infection dressing development. The in-situ aggerated β-cyclodextrin-citral inclusion complex particles (βCPs) were used as emulsion stabilizers, while citral and carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) mixed solutions were used as the inner "dispersed oil phase" and outer "continuous water phase", respectively.

Core-shell nanofibers have great potential for bio-medical applications such as wound healing dressings where multiple drugs and growth factors are expected to be delivered at different healing phases. Compared to monoaxial nanofibers, core-shell nanofibers can control the drug release profile easier, providing sustainable and effective drugs and growth factors for wound healing. However, it is challenging to produce core-shell structured nanofibers with a high production rate at low energy consumption.

Biochar plays an important role in soil improvement, pollutant removal, and nitrogen reduction. The excellent adsorption performance of biochar is closely related to its pore structure. Therefore, this paper combines a large amount of literatures to investigate the principle and method of preparing carbon materials by using the template method, and the idea of preparing high porosity biochar by template method was proposed.

Mussel adhesive proteins (MAPs) have a unique ability to firmly adhere to different surfaces in aqueous environments via the special amino acid, 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA). The catechol groups in DOPA are a key group for adhesive proteins, which is highly informative for the biomedical domain. By simulating MAPs, medical products can be developed for tissue adhesion, drug delivery, and wound healing.

The mechanism of the thermal degradation and the toxicity of the thermal degradation products of agar were studied using TG/DTA, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and pyrolysis gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. It was found that the thermal degradation of agar is a single-step reaction, the thermal degradation temperature (T, T, T) increases with increasing gel strength (P) and the influence of P on the thermal degradation rate is modest. The thermal degradation of agar is an exothermic reaction, and the activation energy of the reaction increases with increasing P.
