A Ureteral Inguinoscrotal Hernia from a Pelvic Kidney.

A 74-year-old male patient with prostate cancer under remission was admitted with left inguinoscrotal swelling. He underwent scrotal ultrasound demonstrating a giant in-guinoscrotal hernia. Contrast-enhanced computerized tomography of the abdomen and pelvis demonstrated a left pelvic kidney associated with severe hydroureteronephrosis secondary to a ureteral inguinoscrotal hernia.

Oxidative stress parameters in patients with prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia and asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis: A prospective controlled study.

Background: The imbalance between oxidant and reductant mechanisms creates a nidus for the etiopathogenesis of several diseases. In this study, we aimed to compare the oxidative stress (OS) parameters in patients who were diagnosed with prostate cancer (pCa), benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis (AIP), according to the histopathologic examination of transrectal ultrasonographic prostate biopsy and transurethral prostate resection specimens.

Objectives: In this study, we aimed to compare oxidative stress between histologically proven prostate cancer, hyperplasia and prostatitis.

The Current Perspectives of Stem Cell Therapy in Orthopedic Surgery.

Context: Musculoskeletal injuries may be painful, troublesome, life limiting and also one of the global health problems. There has been considerable amount of interest during the past two decades to stem cells and tissue engineering techniques in orthopedic surgery, especially to manage special and compulsive injuries within the musculoskeletal system.

Evidence Acquisition: The aim of this study was to present a literature review regarding the most recent progress in stem cell procedures and current indications in orthopedics clinical care practice.

Effect of Voided Volume on Voiding Patterns and Reliability of Uroflowmetry-Electromyography Results in Children with Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction.

Objective: To examine whether voided volume (VV) could change the uroflow patterns and result in children with lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD).

Methods: Between January 2009 and May 2010, the children with LUTD were enrolled in this study. Uroflowmetry (UF) combined with electromyography (EMG) was performed two times and was reviewed independently by two urologists.

Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Repair of Spontaneous Appendicovesical Fistula.

Background: To report the first case of the spontaneous appendicovesical fistulas' (AVF) repair with robot assisted laparoscopy.

Case Presentation: A 29-year-old male patient with urgent persistant bacteriuria and dysuria was referred to our clinic. Physical examination and blood tests were normal.

Mitochondrial respiratory chains consist of approximately 100 structural proteins. Thirteen of these structural proteins are encoded by mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), and the others by nuclear DNA (nDNA). Mutation in any of the mitochondrial structural-protein related genes, regardless of whether they are in the nDNA or mtDNA, might cause mitochondrial disorders.

The Efficacy of Probiotic (Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG) and 5-ASA (Aminosalicylic Acid) in the Treatment of Experimental Radiation Proctitis in Rats.

The aims of the study are to demonstrate the effect of probiotic use on the healing of radiation proctitis (RP) and evaluate the efficiency of fecal biomarkers at follow-up of the treatment.
