The COVID-19 emergency has led many health facilities to reorganize themselves in a very short time to meet the urgent needs for intensive, semi-intensive or ordinary care of SARS-CoV-2 patients. In this pandemic, characterized by speed of transmission and severity of respiratory symptoms, care has been affected by the increase in volume and clinical complexity of patients, the sudden and unpredictable staff decrease and the lack of support from family members / caregivers. At the same time, experience in the field has shown how "informal" resources have been activated, which enabled to treat the highest possible number of patients above the real availability of resources.

Biomarkers Associated with Lymph Nodal Metastasis in Endometrioid Endometrial Carcinoma.

Introduction: Lymph node metastasis is determinant in the prognosis and treatment of endometrioid endometrial cancer (EEC) but the risk-benefit balance of surgical lymph node staging remains controversial.

Objective: Describe the pathways associated with lymph node metastases in EEC detected by whole RNA sequencing.

Methods: RNA-sequencing was performed on a retrospective series of 30 non-metastatic EEC.

Aims: Between 11 to 14% of patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) have positive lateral pelvic lymph nodes (LPLN) at diagnosis, related to a worse prognosis with a 5-year survival rate between 30 to 40%. The best treatment choice for this group of patients is still a challenge. The optimal radiotherapy (RT) dose for LPLN patients has been investigated.

Single-Breath Counting Test Predicts Non-Invasive Respiratory Support Requirements in Patients with COVID-19 Pneumonia.

The use of non-invasive respiratory strategies (NIRS) is crucial to improve oxygenation in COVID-19 patients with hypoxemia refractory to conventional oxygen therapy. However, the absence of respiratory symptoms may delay the start of NIRS. The aim of this study was to determine whether a simple bedside test such as single-breath counting test (SBCT) can predict the need for NIRS in the 24 h following the access to Emergency Department (ED).

Long-term oncological safety of sentinel lymph node biopsy in early-stage cervical cancer: A post-hoc analysis of SENTICOL I and SENTICOL II cohorts.

Objectives: To compare oncologic outcomes of patients with early-stage cervical cancer and negative nodes who underwent sentinel lymph node biopsy alone (SLNB) versus pelvic lymphadenectomy (PL).

Methods: An ancillary analysis of two prospective multicentric trials on SLN biopsy for cervical cancer (SENTICOL I and II) was conducted. Only patients with early-stage cervical cancer (IA to IIA FIGO stage), bilateral detection of SLN, negative SLN after ultrastaging and negative non-SLN after final pathologic examination were included.

Background: Existing proposed classification systems for the Papilla of Vater (PV) suboptimally account for all relevant, encountered PV appearances, are too complex or have not been assessed for intra- or interobserver variability. We proposed a novel endoscopic classification system for PV, determined its inter- and intraobserver rates and used the classification system to assess whether the success and complications of needle-knife fistulotomy (NKF) are influenced by the morphology of the PV.

Methods: The classification system was developed by expert endoscopists.

Our study evaluated the efficacy and safety of a topical product containing polydatin, a glycosylated polyphenol, natural precursor of resveratrol showing anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative activities, for the prevention and treatment of skin papulopustular rash in EGFRi-treated patients.

Reconstruction of the Nose: Management of Nasal Cutaneous Defects According to Aesthetic Subunit and Defect Size. A Review.

Even the smallest loss of substance can create aesthetic and psychosocial concerns for patients; therefore, surgeons who perform nasal reconstruction should be strictly confident with the pertinent surgical anatomy in order to tailor the procedure to the patient's condition and needs. Radical tumor excision and satisfactory aesthetic and functional results are primary targets.

MicroRNAs and target molecules in bladder cancer.

Bladder cancer (BC) is considered as one of the most common malignant tumors in humans with complex pathogenesis including gene expression variation, protein degradation, and changes in signaling pathways. Many studies on involved miRNAs in BC have demonstrated that they could be used as potential biomarkers in the prognosis, response to treatment, and screening before the cancerous phenotype onset.
