Background: Chlorpyrifos (CPF) is an organophosphate pesticide that inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity. Investigations have also focused on its neurotoxicity, which is independent of AChE inhibition. Here, we evaluated the effect of CPF on oxidative indices in the brain tissue and explored the protective effect of curcumin (Cur) against its toxicity.

Though the Ghanaian social structure is largely communal in several of its social life and social spaces, the extent to which cohesive neighbourhood affects functional ability of older persons and the moderating factors of the relationship, are unknown in Ghana. This study examines the moderating roles of sex, multimorbidity, and physical activity on the association between neighbourhood social cohesion and functional disability among older people in Ghana. A cross-sectional study of 4,446 people-50 years and older-from WHO's Study on global AGEing and adult health Ghana Wave 2 was employed.

Quercetin, a naturally occurring polyphenolic compound found in abundance in vegetables and fruits, has emerged as a compelling subject of study in cancer treatment. This comprehensive review delves into the significance and originality of quercetin's multifaceted mechanisms of action, with a particular focus on its application in various brain tumors such as glioblastoma, glioma, neuroblastoma, astrocytoma, and medulloblastoma. This review scrutinizes the distinctive facets of quercetin's anti-cancer properties, highlighting its capacity to modulate intricate signaling pathways, trigger apoptosis, impede cell migration, and enhance radiosensitivity in brain tumor cells.

Background: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is associated with an increased risk of dementia and early features may become evident even in mid-life. Characterizing these early features comprehensively requires multiple measurement modalities and careful selection of participants with and without T2D.
Objective: We conducted a cross-sectional multimodal imaging study of T2D-discordant twins in late mid-life to provide insights into underlying mechanisms.

Purpose: Can assistive technologies (ATs) support aging in place for people with dementia and disability? In seeking to go beyond the persistent institutional care delivery paradigm, this proof-of-concept study tested the feasibility of home care delivery using sensors and remote communication devices. This article reports the collaborative efforts among care professionals, care recipients and family caregivers in their private home environment and the impact of in-home passive remote monitoring (PRM) system on the users. The purpose of this study was to investigate the usability and impact of a PRM system combining in-house passive remote monitoring and an interactive communication function.

Background: Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) is a multidimensional interdisciplinary process that addresses an older adult's biopsychosocial capabilities to create an integrated and co-ordinated plan of care. While quantitative evidence that demonstrates the positive impacts of CGA on clinical and process outcomes has been synthesised, to date qualitative research reporting how older adults and service providers experience CGA has not been synthesised. This study aimed to systematically review and synthesise qualitative studies reporting community-dwelling older adults', caregivers' and healthcare professionals' (HCP) experiences of CGA in the primary care and out-patient (OPD) setting.

Background: Comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) is considered the gold standard approach to improving a range of outcomes for older adults living with frailty admitted to hospital. To date, research has predominantly focused on quantitative syntheses of the international evidence with limited focus on qualitative synthesis of stakeholder perspectives. This review aims to resolve this research gap by identifying and synthesising qualitative studies reporting multiple stakeholders' experiences of inpatient CGA.

The objective of the present study was to review the epidemiological and laboratory evidence on the role of aluminum (Al) exposure in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. Epidemiological data demonstrated an increased incidence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), including hypertension and atherosclerosis in occupationally exposed subjects and hemodialysis patients. In addition, Al body burden was found to be elevated in patients with coronary heart disease, hypertension, and dyslipidemia.
