The current study explored HPV prevalence and age variation in cervical samples of different cytological categories and HPV types from women seeking gynecological care in Tripura, northeast India. Pap smears, cervical tissues, and HPV/DNA specimens were collected from gynecological outpatient departments (OPD) or in-house patients and were screened for HPV16, HPV18, and other HPV types by PCR. Finally, logistic regression was performed to find the association between epidemiologic factors and HPV infection in women of different cytological grades.

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinases are overexpressed in several human cancers and could serve as a promising anti-cancer drug target. With this in view, the main aim of the present study was to identify spices having the potential to inhibit EGFR tyrosine kinase. The structure-based virtual screening of spice database consisting of 1439 compounds with EGFR tyrosine kinase (PDB ID: 3W32) was carried out using Glide.

Murine splenic macrophage plays a decisive role in host immunity through phagocytosis against pathogens. It was reported that, macrophages also involves in phagocytosis of some tumour cells upon its activation initiated by certain cytokines produced by other immune cell or by indigenously treated. In this study, we have investigated the killing of leukemic blast cells by macrophages upon stimulated with IL-15 and GM-CSF alone or in combination in ENU challenged leukemic murine model.

Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) reactivation in patients receiving chemotherapy, biologicals, immunosupressants, or corticosteroids is emerging to be an important cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with current or prior exposure to HBV infection. These patients suffer a dual onslaught of illness: one from the primary disease for which they are receiving the culprit drug that led to HBV reactivation, and the other from HBV reactivation itself. The HBV reactivation not only leads to a compromised liver function, which may culminate into hepatic failure; it also adversely impacts the treatment outcome of the primary illness.

The metabolism of ethanol gives rise to the generation of excess amounts of reactive oxygen species and is also associated with immune dysfunction. We examined the efficacy of resveratrol and vitamin E on the immunomodulatory activity and vascular function in mice with liver abnormalities induced by chronic ethanol consumption by measuring the protein, liver-specific transaminase enzymes, antioxidant enzymes and non-enzymes such as reduced glutathione (GSH) content, thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS) level, nitrite level, and activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione reductase (GR) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and glutathione-S-transferase (GST), and cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-2, IL-4, IL-10, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha, gamma interferon (IFN-gamma), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-A and transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta1 in mice blood. Adhesion molecules play an important role in the pathogenesis of several diseases. In this study, expression of adhesion molecules was examined in the setting of chronic alcohol induced liver damage of male albino Wistar strain rats (16-18 weeks-old, 200-220 g) in a time dependent manner. Decreased protein level and increased activities of liver marker enzymes in response to the chronic ethanol (1.
