Pregnancy after embolization for arteriovenous malformation: An uncommon successful outcome.

Uterine arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an uncommon but fatal condition and can cause bleeding from abnormal connection between artery and vein. Pregnancy after embolization of uterine AVM is very uncommon, and there are increased risks of spontaneous abortion and growth retardation. We report a case of pregnancy after bilateral uterine artery embolization for AVM and its successful outcome.

Introduction: While all healthcare services across the globe deferred non-urgent surgeries, labor wards provided maternity care during the COVID-19 pandemic continuously. This study assesses the knowledge and practices of obstetricians and midwives about personal protective equipment (PPE); their risk perception of COVID-19 and satisfaction with the preventive measures adopted at their workplace.

Methods: A questionnaire designed according to the World Health Organization’s advice on rational use of personal protective equipment for COVID-19 was administered to 452 Pakistani maternity care providers between 1 July and 30 July 2020.

Background In the current coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the pattern of hospital admissions for acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is changing, and increased mortality and morbidity is being noted in these patients. Objective: To assess the adherence level of obstetricians towards postpartum diabetes screening guidelines.

Methods: The quasi-experimental pre- and post-intervention study was conducted from May 2014 to April 2015 at Aga Khan Hospital for Women-Karimabad, Karachi, and comprised all obstetricians practicing at the time. We report a case of gastroschisis which was not diagnosed antenatally and was delivered through lower segment caesarean section due to non-reassuring cardiotocograph and small for gestational age fetus in a 21-year old mother. It was associated with oligohydramnios and partial extension of wrist joint in the neonate. After delivery, baby was referred to tertiary care for specialized care by paediatric surgeon and neonatologist where he had silo reduction and surgical repair.
