Translation and validation of the Chinese Social Role Participation Questionnaire in patients with ankylosing spondylitis.

Social Role Participation Questionnaire (SRPQ) is used to evaluate the social participation with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Although the SRPQ has English and Dutch versions, there is no Chinese version even though China has the largest population of patients with AS. The objective of our study was to translate the SRPQ into Chinese version and assess its reliability and validity in Chinese patients with AS.

Interaction between MALAT-1, CCR7 and correlated genes in oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Objective: This study focuses on the feasible molecular mechanism of the interaction between MALAT-1, CCR7 and related genes in oral squamous cell carcinoma, to find new target molecules that can block the lymph node metastasis.

Methods: The expression of MALAT-1, miRNA-320s, SRSF1, YB-1 and CCR7 were detected in T3/T4-phase OSCC tissues of two groups with or without lymph node metastasis using real-time qPCR. CO-IP and western blot to test the interaction of RNAs (MALAT-1, miRNA-320s) with SRSF1 protein or YB-1 were evaluated by CO-IP, Western blot and real-time qPCR.

Titanium and titanium alloy are widely used as orthopedic implants for their favorable mechanical properties and satisfactory biocompatibility. The aim of the present study was to investigate the antibacterial effect and bone cell biocompatibility of a novel implant made with nanotubular anodized titanium coated with gentamicin (NTATi-G) through in vivo study in rabbits. The animals were divided into four groups, each receiving different kinds of implants, that is, NTATi-G, titanium coated with gentamicin (Ti-G), nanotubular anodized titanium uncoated with gentamicin (NTATi) and titanium uncoated with gentamicin (Ti).

Methane Suppresses Microglial Activation Related to Oxidative, Inflammatory, and Apoptotic Injury during Spinal Cord Injury in Rats.

Objective: We investigated the hypothesis that methane-rich saline (MS) can be used to repair spinal cord injury (SCI) in a rat model through suppressing microglial activation related to oxidative, inflammatory, and apoptotic injury.

Methods: MS was injected intraperitoneally in rats after SCI. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, oxidative stress, inflammatory parameters, and cell apoptosis were detected 72 h after SCI to determine the optimal dose.

[Clinical analysis of therapeutic bronchoscopy for tracheal neoplasm].

To analyze the clinical features in adults with tracheal neoplasm and to evaluate the efficacy of interventional bronchoscopic treatment. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical features of 43 adults undergoing therapeutic bronchoscopy for tracheal neoplasm diagnosed in Changhai Hospital affiliated to the Second Military Medical University from January 2004 to July 2014.The degree of stenosis, the grade of dyspnea, and Karnofsky performance status scale were evaluated before and after the last procedure.

Protective Effects of Methane-Rich Saline on Rats with Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Acute Lung Injury.

The aim of this research is to evaluate the protective effects of methane-rich saline (MS) on lipopolysaccharide- (LPS-) induced acute lung injury (ALI) and investigate its potential antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic activities. LPS-induced (20 mg/kg) ALI rats were injected with MS (2 ml/kg and 20 ml/kg) before the initiation of LPS induction. Survival rate was determined until 96 h after LPS was induced.

Epidural hematoma after total hip arthroplasty in ankylosing spondylitis patient: A case report and review of the literature.

Rationale: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) can affect the hip joint, causing deformity and disability. Total hip arthroplasty can obviously relieve the pain of the hip joint, and reconstruct the function of hip joint. Epidural anesthesia in this patient population has high risk of epidural hematoma, but the reason is unclear.

Novel reduction-sensitive micellar nanoparticles assembled from Rituximab-doxorubicin conjugates as smart and intuitive drug delivery systems for the treatment of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

In this study, a novel reduction-sensitive drug delivery system, the rituximab-doxorubicin (RTX-DOX) micellar nanoparticle (RDMN), was specially designed for targeted delivery and release of DOX in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) cells. The RDMN was fabricated by self-assembling of amphiphilic RTX-DOX conjugates (RDCs), which were synthesized by conjugating the hydrophilic Fab fragments of RTX (an anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody) and hydrophobic DOXs by a reduction-responsive linker, 3-(2-Pyridyldithio) propionyl hydrazide (PDPH). The RDMNs were characterized via dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy, both showed the sizes of approximately 94.

Combination therapy with lamivudine and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor/angiotensin receptor blocker for hepatitis B virus-associated glomerulonephritis with mild to moderate proteinuria: a clinical review of 38 cases.

Purpose: The treatment of HBV-associated glomerulonephritis (HBV-GN) is still a challenge in clinical practice now. The objective of this study was to report the pathological characteristics of HBV-GN presenting with mild to moderate proteinuria and to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of lamivudine (LAM) in combination with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI)/angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) as compared to ACEI/ARB monotherapy.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study in HBV-GN patients between 2005 and 2014.

[Effect analysis of anterior cervical operation for severe cervical kyphosis].

To determine the feasibility and safety of anterior cervical decompression and fusion in severe cervical kyphosis treatment. Totally 29 patients with severe cervical kyphosis(Cobb angle>50°) underwent anterior cervical decompression and fusion from June 2008 to May 2016 were studied retrospectively. There were 19 males and 10 females.

A novel PHD-finger protein 14/KIF4A complex overexpressed in lung cancer is involved in cell mitosis regulation and tumorigenesis.

The plant homeodomain (PHD) finger-containing proteins have been implicated in many human diseases including cancer. In this study, we found that PHF14, a newly identified PHD finger protein, is highly expressed in lung cancer. The high expression level of PHF14 was associated with adenocarcinoma and poor survival in lung cancer patients.

Background: To examine the risk of bias of methodological quality of reporting randomized clinical trials (RCTs) in major neurology journals before and after the update (2011) of Cochrane risk of bias tool.

Methods: RCTs in 5 leading neurology journals in 2008 and 2013 were searched systematically. Characteristics were extracted based on the list of the modified Cochrane Collaboration's tool.

The chinese version of achilles tendon total rupture score: cross-cultural adaptation, reliability and validity.

Background: The Achilles tendon Total Rupture Score (ATRS), which is originally developed in 2007 in Swedish, is the only patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) for specific outcome assessment of an Achilles tendon rupture.Purpose of this study is to translate and cross-culturally adapt Achilles tendon Total Rupture Score (ATRS) into simplified Chinese, and primarily evaluate the responsiveness, reliability and validity.

Methods: International recognized guideline which was designed by Beaton was followed to make the translation of ATRS from English into simplified Chinese version (CH-ATRS).

MicroRNA-134-3p is a novel potential inhibitor of human ovarian cancer stem cells by targeting RAB27A.

The cluster of microRNAs (miRNAs) in the DLK1-DIO3 genomic imprinted region contains several miRNAs that have a significant regulatory role in tumor proliferation and invasion. One of these miRNAs is miR-134-3p, and its expression changes significantly in human ovarian cancer stem cells (OCSCs) and in CD44-/CD133- ovarian cancer. The results of a luciferase assay showed that miR-134-3p silenced RAB27A by binding to the 3'-UTR of RAB27A mRNA.

Application of carbon nanoparticles accelerates the rapid recovery of parathyroid function during thyroid carcinoma surgery with central lymph node dissection: A retrospective cohort study.

Background And Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of carbon nanoparticles in identifying lymph nodes and promoting parathyroid gland function recovery after thyroid carcinoma surgery along with central lymph node dissection.

Methods: A total of 231 patients who underwent thyroid carcinoma surgery combined with central lymph node dissection were divided into two groups: the CN group (intraoperative carbon nanoparticles injections) and the control group (no injection). Datas were collected respectively on the pre-operative, 1st, 7th and 30th postoperative days and monthly thereafter.

Multifidus Degeneration, A New Risk Factor for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis: A Case-Control Study.

Pulmonary function changes and its influencing factors after preoperative brace treatment in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis: A retrospective case-control study.

Background: The aim of the study was to retrospectively investigate the changes in pulmonary function and its influencing factors in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) undergoing preoperative brace treatment or not.

Methods: Total 237 AIS patients (43 boys, 194 girls) who underwent operations and had a complete record of pulmonary function tests were enrolled and were divided into preoperative brace treatment group (brace treatment group, n = 60) and without preoperative brace treatment group (control group, n = 177). The pulmonary function parameters were compared between the 2 groups.

Fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase is a novel regulator of Wnt/β-Catenin pathway in breast cancer.

Fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBP1), the rate-limiting enzyme in gluconeogenesis, is a tumor suppressor that frequently down-regulated in cancers, especially breast cancer. Here, we provide both supporting and contradicting evidences about the expression pattern and function of FBP1 in breast cancer. Data mining of Oncomine database showed that FBP1 is commonly up-regulated in tumor tissues compared with non-tumor tissues regardless of histological type.

Annexin A2, up-regulated by IL-6, promotes the ossification of ligament fibroblasts from ankylosing spondylitis patients.

Background: Annexin A2, a calcium-dependent phospholipid binding protein, is involved in osteogenesis. The objective of the present study was to explore the expression of Annexin A2 in spinal ligament tissues (LT) of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients and determine its pathological functions.

Methods: mRNA and protein expression of Annexin A2 was detected by real-time PCR and Western blotting, respectively.
