Expression analysis of plvap in mouse heart development, homeostasis and injury.

Gene Expr Patterns

December 2023

School of Life Science and Technology, ShanghaiTech University, Shanghai, China. Electronic address:

Plasmalemma vesicle associated protein (PLVAP) is commonly considered to be specifically expressed in endothelial cells in which it localized to diaphragms of caveolae, fenestrae, and transendothelial channels. PLVAP is reported to be an important regulator of heart development and a novel target to promote cardiac repair in the ischemic heart. However, the dynamics of plvap expression in heart development, homeostasis and pathology have not been comprehensively described.

Department of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Xinhua Hospital, Affiliated to the Medical School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China.

Sepsis most often involves the kidney and is one of the most common causes of acute kidney injury. The prevalence of septic acute kidney injury has increased significantly in recent years. The gut microbiota plays an important role in sepsis.

Background: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a promising novel approach for managing refractory Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome (GTS). The subthalamic nucleus (STN) is the most common DBS target for treating movement disorders, and smaller case studies have reported the efficacy of bilateral STN-DBS treatment for relieving tic symptoms. However, management of GTS and treatment mechanism of STN-DBS in GTS remain to be elucidated.

Background: Hypoxia contributes to a cascade of inflammatory response mechanisms in kidneys that result in the development of renal interstitial fibrosis and subsequent chronic renal failure. Nonetheless, the kidney possesses a self-protection mechanism under a certain degree of hypoxia and this mechanism its adaptation to hypoxia. As the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) axis is a key pathway for neovascularization, the activation of this axis is a target for renal hypoxia therapies.

Camptocormia is a common and often debilitating postural deformity in Parkinson's disease (PD). Few treatments are currently effective. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the globus pallidus internus (GPi) shows potential in treating camptocormia, but evidence remains limited to case reports.

Introduction: ATP citrate lyase (ACLY) is involved in lipid metabolism and inflammatory response in immune cells. However, the serum level of ACLY and its clinical relevance in sepsis is totally unknown.

Methods: We conducted a prospective pilot study in patients with sepsis admitted to pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) from January 2018 to December 2018.

In this comprehensive article, we present an overview of some most common autoimmune antibodies believed to be potentially pathogenic for autoimmune epilepsies and elaborate their pathogenic mode of action in molecular levels based on the existing knowledge. Findings of the studies of immunemodulatory treatments for epilepsy are also discussed, and guidelines for immunotherapy are sorted out. We aim to summarize the emerging understanding of different pathogenic mechanisms of autoantibodies and clinical immunotherapy regimens to open up therapeutic possibilities for future optimum therapy.

Gene delivery systems can be divided to two major types: vector-based (either viral vector or non-viral vector) and physical delivery technologies. Many physical carriers, such as electroporation, gene gun, ultrasound start to be proved to have the potential to enable gene therapy. A relatively new physical delivery technology for gene delivery consists of microneedles (MNs), which has been studied in many fields and for many molecule types and indications.

Background/aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic significance of some serum tumor marker level, extracellular matrix (ECM), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in patients with gastric cancer.

Methodology: The serum tumor markers included CEA, CA50 and CA19-9, ECM included laminin (LN), hyaluronic acid (HA), and collagen type III and IV were measured in 40 patients with gastric carcinoma and 20 matched healthy controls by radioimmunoassay. MMP-9, VEGF and MVD were measured with immunohistochemical methods and the computer image analyzer.
