Background: Glucose transporter 1 deficiency syndrome (Glut1DS) was initially reported by De Vivo and colleagues in 1991. This disease arises from mutations in the SLC2A1 and presents with a broad clinical spectrum. It is a treatable neuro-metabolic condition, where prompt diagnosis and initiation of ketogenic dietary therapy can markedly enhance the prognosis.

Background: Few studies investigated the implications of post-PCI QFR and post-PCI ΔQFR (absolute increase of QFR) in de novo lesions of small coronary disease after drug-coated balloon (DCB).

Objectives: We sought to investigate the prognostic implications of post-PCI QFR and post-PCI ΔQFR in patients who received DCB only.

Methods: Patients were divided according to the optimal cutoff value of the post-PCI QFR and the post-PCI ΔQFR.

Article Synopsis
  • Hypertension and type 2 diabetes contribute to an increased risk of premature death and related diseases, particularly affecting the same population.
  • An expert consensus using the GRADE approach was formed to create strategies aimed at reducing cardiovascular and kidney-related deaths while minimizing treatment burdens for adults with type 2 diabetes.
  • A multidisciplinary team developed 12 evidence-based recommendations focusing on screening, monitoring, lifestyle changes, and medication for individuals with type 2 diabetes, specifically addressing those who also have hypertension.

Objective: To identify the factors that determine the minimum length of biopsy sample required for accurate diagnosis.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 1202 cases that underwent rectal ultrasound-guided trans-perineal prostate biopsy (TPB) with standardized biopsy surgical procedures and pathological evaluation. Logistic regression correlation analysis and the imbalance between groups was eliminated by propensity score matching of patients' own factors between groups (positive group and negative group).

Article Synopsis
  • The study compared the effectiveness of brachytherapy (BT) and radical prostatectomy (RP) for treating localized prostate cancer, focusing on outcomes like biochemical recurrence and survival rates after matching patients based on similar characteristics.
  • A total of 657 patients were treated at the institution, with a median follow-up time of around 63 months for BT and 52 months for RP, resulting in 294 patients left for analysis after adjusting for variables.
  • Results showed no significant differences in clinical relapse-free survival, overall survival, or cancer-specific survival between the two treatments, but BT demonstrated better biochemical relapse-free survival compared to RP.

Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted on 409 MDS patients receiving hypomethylating agents (HMA) at 45 hospitals in Zhejiang province to assess their efficacy and safety, focusing on response rates and survival outcomes.
  • The findings revealed a complete remission (CR) rate of 33.98% and an overall response rate (ORR) of 77.02%, with factors like complex karyotype and TP53 mutations impacting the prognosis.
  • No significant differences were observed between dosages of HMA, but patients treated with decitabine had a longer median overall survival of 29.53 months compared to 20.17 months with azacitidine, though the incidence of side effects varied between the two treatments.

Background: Transcervical resection of adhesions (TCRA) is the standard treatment for intrauterine adhesion (IUA). Previous studies have shown that postoperative oral estrogen or an intrauterine physical barrier could reduce the recurrence of IUA by promoting the proliferation of the endometrium or inhibiting the reformation of adhesions. Our team designed an intrauterine stent that can release estrogen within the uterine cavity slowly.

Objectives: Given the limited tocilizumab (TCZ) treatment data for systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA) in China, we evaluated the long-term efficacy and safety of TCZ in Chinese patients with sJIA.

Method: In this multicentre, interventional Phase IV study, patients with sJIA and inadequate clinical response to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/corticosteroids received TCZ infusions every 2 weeks based on body weight (< 30 kg, 12 mg/kg; ≥ 30 kg, 8 mg/kg), over a 52-week open-label period and an 8-week safety follow-up period. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients with a JIA American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 30 response and absence of fever at Week 12.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the cost-effectiveness of using a new meningococcal vaccination strategy (MCV-ACWY and MPV-ACWY) compared to the current strategy (MPV-A and MPV-AC) in China's national immunization program.
  • Utilizing a decision tree-Markov model, the research predicts that the new strategy could prevent 513 disease cases, 53 long-term health issues, and 47 deaths in a birth cohort from 2023.
  • The new vaccination approach has a more favorable cost-effectiveness ratio ($16,899.81/QALY), with a 55.98% probability of being cost-effective, compared to only 14.76% for the current strategy, despite its

The resistance of () has increased in recent years, prompting a trend in the research and development of new drugs. In our study, three derivatives (JF-1, JF-2, and JF-3) were synthesized using 6-gingerol as the main component, while JF-4, containing both 6-gingerol and 6-shogaol as the main components, was extracted from dried ginger. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs), determined using the ratio dilution method, were 80 μg/mL for JF-1, 40 μg/mL for JF-2, 30 μg/mL for JF-3, 40 μg/mL for JF-4, 60 μg/mL for 6-gingerol standard (SS), and 0.

In recent years, a large number of studies have demonstrated that obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) can lead to the abnormal development of maxillofacial region in pediatric patients, which may result in a 'vicious circle' aggravating OSA, therefore adversely affecting quality of life. Understanding the effect and mechanism of OSA on children's maxillofacial development is helpful to better prevent and treat OSA and maxillofacial dysplasia in children.

Background: Conventional anesthesia used to reduce central venous pressure (CVP) during hepatectomy includes fluid restriction and vasodilator drugs, which can lead to a reduction in blood perfusion in vital organs and may counteract the benefits of low blood loss. In this study, we hypothesized that milrinone is feasible and effective in controlling low CVP (LCVP) during laparoscopic hepatectomy (LH). Compared with conventional anesthesia such as nitroglycerin, milrinone is beneficial in terms of intraoperative blood loss, surgical environment, hemodynamic stability, and patients' recovery.

Department of Pediatric Surgery, The Sixth Hospital Affiliated to Harbin Medical University, Harbin Medical University, No.998 Aiying Street, Harbin 150027, Heilongjiang, China.

Fibrosis and inflammation due to ureteropelvic junction obstruction substantially contributes to poor renal function. Urine-derived stem-cell-derived exosomes (USC-Exos) have therapeutic effects through paracrine. In vitro, the effects of USC-Exos on the biological functions of HK-2 and human umbilical vein endothelial cells were tested.
