Article Synopsis
  • The study compares the effectiveness of three stent graft techniques (PSG, FSG, and BSG) in treating thoracoabdominal aortic issues over the long term.
  • Involving 291 patients and over 1,100 aortic branches, results show varying reconstruction times and success rates for preventing endoleaks and maintaining branch patency.
  • The findings suggest that the branched stent graft (BSG) has better outcomes in preventing endoleaks and maintaining vessel patency compared to the other methods, without significant cost differences.

The use of endovascular stent-graft has become an important option in the treatment of aortic pathologies. However, the currently used endograft membranes have limited ability to prevent bacterial colonization. This makes them unsuitable for the treatment of mycotic aneurysms, as the infection is prone to progress after endograft implantation.

Background: The goals of operative treatment for unilateral coronal synostosis (UCS) are to improve appearance and allow unrestricted brain growth. However, for severe unilateral premature closure of the coronal suture, existing methods do not address the compression of the brain or expand the volume of the skull cavity. We report our retrospective experience with bilateral fronto-orbital advancement combined with cranial vault release using a free-floating bone flap (CVR + FFBF) technique and the resulting changes in the anterior cranial vault asymmetry index (ACVAI) and intracranial volume.

Dasatinib-based therapy is often used as a second-line therapeutic strategy for imatinib-resistance gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs); however, acquired aberrant activation of dasatinib target proteins, such as c-KIT and PDGFRβ, attenuates the therapeutic efficiency of dasatinib. Combination therapy which inhibits the activation of dasatinib target proteins may enhance the cytotoxicity of dasatinib in GISTs. Bortezomib, a proteasome inhibitor, significantly inhibited cell viability and promoted apoptosis of dasatinib-treated GIST-T1 cells, whereas GIST-T1 cells showed little dasatinib cytotoxicity when treated with dasatinib alone, as the upregulation of c-KIT caused by dasatinib itself interfered with the inhibition of c-KIT and PDGFRβ phosphorylation by dasatinib.
