Background: Previous studies have shown a positive correlation between the non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(non-HDLc/HDLc ratio) and metabolism-associated steatohepatitis (MASLD), suggesting it is a superior predictor of MASLD.The aim of this study is to assess the predictive value of the non-HDLc/HDLc ratio for MASLD.
Methods: In this study, we retrospectively analyzed data from 4,498 adult patients at the Health Management Centre of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Integrative Medicine, regardless of gender, and the diagnostic criteria for MASLD were derived from guidelines.

Acquired drug resistance is one of the most common limitations for the clinical response of colon cancer to 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU)-based chemotherapy. The relevant molecular mechanisms might be diversity, but still not be elucidated clearly. In this study, we aimed to investigate the potential mechanisms of c-Fos, a subfamily of activator protein-1, in 5-FU chemoresistance.

Increasing evidence suggests that alternative splicing plays a critical role in pain, but its underlying mechanism remains elusive. Herein, we employed complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) to induce inflammatory pain in mice. A combination of genomics research techniques, lentivirus-based genetic manipulations, behavioral tests, and molecular biological technologies confirmed that splicing factor Cwc22 mRNA and CWC22 protein were elevated in the spinal dorsal horn at 3Â days after CFA injection.

Background: We compared the intraoperative and postoperative outcomes of robotic-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (RALPN) via transabdominal or retroperitoneal approaches in patients with stage T1b renal cell carcinoma.
Methods: The medical records for 92 patients who underwent RALPN were retrospectively collected and data on their baseline demographics, duration of operation, duration of renal artery clamping, intraoperative blood loss, recovery time of intestinal functions, surgical margin positive rate, as well as postoperative complications were analyzed.
Results: Of the 92 enrolled patients, 43 and 49 patients were subjected to RALPN via the transabdominal and retroperitoneal approaches, respectively.

Multimodality imaging recognized as a promising monitoring strategy can serve the needs of accurate diagnosis and treatment of cancer by providing molecular and anatomic information about tumor sites. However, the probes based on multiple imaging modalities for surgery navigation remain limited due to poor biocompatibility and tumor targeting specificity. Herein, we present a small-molecule near-infrared fluorescence/magnetic resonance (NIRF/MR) imaging probe, Gd-NMC-3, covalently coupled with DCDSTCY and Gd-DOTA butane diamine, for precise detection and intraoperative visualization.

Hearing loss is a common sensory disorder that is mainly caused by the loss of hair cells (HCs). Drug-induced deafness, for which there is currently no effective treatment, is mainly caused by the inappropriate use of aminoglycoside antibiotics. Fasudil (Fas), a novel isoquinoline sulfonamide derivative, has exhibited antioxidant abilities in a number of previous studies.

Many integral membrane proteins might act as indispensable coordinators in specific functional microdomains to maintain the normal operation of known receptors, such as Notch. Gm364 is a multi-pass transmembrane protein that has been screened as a potential female fertility factor. However, there have been no reports to date about its function in female fertility.

This study is intended to explore the anticancer, antiproliferative, and chemopreventive action of troxerutin (TX) in human non-small-cell lung cancer cell (A549) using BALB/c nude mice. 2 × 106 A549 cells were subcutaneously injected into mice, along with 10 μM and 20 μM/kg body weight of TX orally for 19 days. On the last day, tumor weight and volume were assessed.

Background: Chemodynamic therapy (CDT), employing Fenton or Fenton-like catalysts to convert hydrogen peroxide (HO) into toxic hydroxyl radicals (·OH) to kill cancer cells, holds great promise in tumor therapy due to its high selectivity. However, the therapeutic effect is significantly limited by insufficient intracellular HO level in tumor cells. Fortunately, β-Lapachone (Lapa) that can exert HO-supplementing functionality under the catalysis of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (phosphate) NAD(P)H: quinone oxidoreductase-1 (NQO1) enzyme offers a new idea to solve this problem.

Mammalian female meiosis must be tightly regulated to produce high-quality mature oocytes for subsequent regular fertilization and healthy live birth of the next generation. GTPases control many important signal pathways involved in diverse cellular activities. ADP-ribosylation factor family members (Arfs) in mice possess GTPase activities, and some members have been found to function in meiosis.

With currently available molecular imaging techniques, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a liver cancer with high mortality rates and poor treatment responses, is mostly diagnosed at its late stage. This is largely due to the lack of highly sensitive contrast agents with high liver specificity. Herein, we report a novel bimodal contrast agent molecule CNCI-1 for the effective detection of HCC at its early stage both in vitro and in vivo.

Atherosclerosis is recognized at present as a chronic metabolic disease of the arteries that leads to multifocal plaque development. Previous studies have reported that acid fibroblast growth factor (aFGF) is a critical therapeutic regulator in numerous chronic metabolic disorders. However, there is currently no direct evidence indicating whether aFGF serves a therapeutic role in atherosclerosis.

Kallmann syndrome, a form of idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, is characterized by developmental abnormalities of the reproductive system and abnormal olfaction. Despite association of certain genes with idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, the genetic inheritance and expression are complex and incompletely known. In the present study, seven Kallmann syndrome pedigrees in an ethnic Han Chinese population were screened for genetic mutations.
