Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive physical therapy intervention that has emerged in the recent past to address the upswing of osteoarthritis (OA). However, insufficient evidence is present to prove the efficacy of ESWT on grade IV knee osteoarthritis (KOA). The present study aimed to examine the effects of ESWT on functional ability in patients suffering from grade IV KOA.

The numerous and varied forms of neurodegenerative illnesses provide a considerable challenge to contemporary healthcare. The emergence of artificial intelligence has fundamentally changed the diagnostic picture by providing effective and early means of identifying these crippling illnesses. As a subset of computational intelligence, machine-learning algorithms have become very effective tools for the analysis of large datasets that include genetic, imaging, and clinical data.

Background: The two-way relationship between periodontitis and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is well established. Prolonged hyperglycemia contributes to increased periodontal destruction and severe periodontitis, accentuating diabetic complications. An inflammatory link exists between diabetic retinopathy (DR) and periodontitis, but the studies regarding this association and the role of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in these conditions are scarce in the literature.

Background: Treatment of diabetes includes oral antidiabetic drugs (OAD), insulin, or their combinations. Insulin can achieve faster glycemic control and have anabolic action on bone. This study was undertaken to assess the prevalence and severity of periodontitis, and to estimate the proportional relationship between periodontal inflamed surface area, clinical attachment loss, and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) level in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) on OAD therapy and on insulin therapy.

Background: The bidirectional link between periodontitis and diabetes mellitus (DM) has been established. Periodontitis causes systemic inflammatory burden through inflammatory mediators. The currently utilized tools [clinical attachment loss (CAL) and probing pocket depth (PPD)] are linear measurements, that do not exactly quantify the inflammatory burden of periodontitis.

Background And Objectives: Microbial biofilm and host susceptibility play an important role in the initiation and progression of periodontitis. Periodontitis is considered the sixth complication of diabetes mellitus and a bidirectional relationship exists between diabetes and periodontitis. This cross-sectional observational study was undertaken to evaluate the glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c) level in chronic periodontitis.

Jaw-winking or the Marcus Gunn phenomenon (MGP), a congenital uncommon condition characterized by involuntary elevation of a drooping upper eyelid concomitant with various movements of the mandible, is well-documented in medical literature, but very little information is available in dental literature. This is an interesting case report of a 17-year-old female with MGP, who reported for orthodontic treatment of her proclined upper anterior teeth, severe lower crowding, and mandibular micrognathia. Review of the literature revealed only two reported cases of dental anomalies in conjunction with MGP.
