Background: Despite the existence of numerous studies investigating the diagnostic potential of blood microRNAs for colorectal cancer, the microRNAs under consideration vary widely, and comparative analysis of their diagnostic value is lacking. Consequently, this systematic review aims to identify the most effective microRNA blood tumor markers to enhance clinical decision-making in colorectal cancer screening.
Method: A comprehensive search of databases, including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, and Cochrane, was conducted to identify case‒control or cohort studies that examined the diagnostic value of peripheral blood microRNAs in colorectal cancer.

Ferroptosis is a lipid peroxidation-driven and iron-dependent form of programmed cell death, which is involved in a variety of physical processes and multiple diseases. Numerous reports have demonstrated that ferroptosis is closely related to the pathophysiological processes of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) infection and is characterized by the accumulation of excess lipid peroxides on the cell membrane.

Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important roles in cancer progression and metastasis. However, the expression profiles and biological roles of circRNAs in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain unclear.
Methods: In this study, we identified a novel circRNA, hsa_circ_0006834 (termed circ6834), in NSCLC by RNA-seq and investigated the biological role of circ6834 in NSCLC progression in vitro and in vivo.

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a hemorrhagic disease with high mortality and disability rates. Curcumin is a promising drug for ICH treatment due to its multiple biological activities, but its application is limited by its poor watersolubility and instability. Herein, platelet membrane-coated curcumin polylactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) nanoparticles (PCNPs) are prepared to achieve significantly improved solubility, stability, and sustained release of curcumin.

CD36 is a scavenger receptor that has been reported to function as a signaling receptor that responds to pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) and could integrate metabolic pathways and cell signaling through its dual functions. Thereby influencing activation to regulate the immune response and immune cell differentiation. Recent studies have revealed that CD36 plays critical roles in the process of lipid metabolism, inflammatory response and immune process caused by infection.

Background: Postoperative delirium (POD) and cognitive dysfunction (POCD) are common complications following thoracic surgery, particularly in patients aged 65 years and above. These complications can significantly affect recovery and increase healthcare costs. This study investigates the effects of low-dose S-ketamine on reducing POD and POCD in this patient demographic.

Objective: Meteorin-like (Metrnl), a secreted myokine, is a newly discovered neurotrophic factor. The aim of this study was to determine if there is a correlation between the Metrnl level and diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN).
Methods: The investigation was conducted on a sample of 80 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and 60 healthy controls.

Despite achieving a high cure rate with direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) in hepatitis C treatment, further research is needed to identify additional benefits of the DAA therapy. The current study evaluated liver fibrosis improvement in 848 hepatitis C patients treated with DAAs, who also achieved sustained virologic response (SVR). Using the fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) index, patients were categorized based on their baseline fibrosis level, and improvements in fibrosis were analyzed in both the short-term (9-26 weeks) and long-term (≥ 36 weeks) follow-up.

Acute cholestatic liver injury (ACLI) is a disease associated with bile duct obstruction that causes liver inflammation and apoptosis. Although G protein-coupled bile acid receptor1 (Gpbar-1) has diverse metabolic roles, its involvement in ACLI-associated immune activation remains unclear. Liver tissues and blood samples from 20 patients with ACLI and 20 healthy individuals were analyzed using biochemical tests, H&E staining, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry to verify liver damage and expression of Gpbar-1.

Background: Predicting hypoglycemia while maintaining a low false alarm rate is a challenge for the wide adoption of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices in diabetes management. One small study suggested that a deep learning model based on the long short-term memory (LSTM) network had better performance in hypoglycemia prediction than traditional machine learning algorithms in European patients with type 1 diabetes. However, given that many well-recognized deep learning models perform poorly outside the training setting, it remains unclear whether the LSTM model could be generalized to different populations or patients with other diabetes subtypes.

Accurate early diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and prompt implementation of appropriate treatment approaches are crucial. In the clinic, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been recommended for implementation to aid in the precise and early diagnosis of RA. However, they are still limited by issues regarding specificity and their ability to capture comprehensive information about the pathological features.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is a "cold" tumor enriched in noninflammatory M2 phenotype tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), which limits the efficacy of immunotherapy. The acidic tumor microenvironment (TME), generated by factors such as excess hydrogen (H) ions and high lactate levels, activates immunosuppressive cells, further promoting a suppressive tumor immune microenvironment (TIME). Therefore, a multitarget synergistic combination strategy that neutralizes the acidic TME and reprograms TAMs can be beneficial for OS therapy.

Background: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification plays an important role in lung cancer. However, methyltransferase-like 14 (METTL14), which serves as the main component of the m6A complex, has been less reported to be involved in the immune microenvironment of lung cancer. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between METTL14 and the immune checkpoint inhibitor programmed death receptor 1 (PD-1) in lung cancer.

Macrophages are present in many mechanically active tissues and are often subjected to varying degrees of mechanical stimulation. Macrophages play a crucial role in resisting pathogen invasion and maintaining tissue homeostasis. Piezo-type mechanosensitive channel component 1 (Piezo1) is the main cation channel involved in the rapid response to mechanical stimuli in mammals.
