Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), a novel anti-tumor therapeutic modality, are monoclonal antibodies targeting certain immune checkpoints (ICs) that reactivate T cells to achieve anti-tumor immunity by targeting, binding, and blocking ICs. Targeted inhibitory antibodies against the ICs cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen and programmed death receptor-1 have demonstrated efficacy and durable anti-tumor activity in patients with cancer. ICs may prevent autoimmune reactions.

The cGAS-STING pathway plays an important role in ischemia-reperfusion injury in the heart, liver, brain, and kidney, but its role and mechanisms in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury have not been systematically reviewed. Here, we outline the components of the cGAS-STING pathway and then analyze its role in autophagy, ferroptosis, cellular pyroptosis, disequilibrium of calcium homeostasis, inflammatory responses, disruption of the blood-brain barrier, microglia transformation, and complement system activation following cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. We further analyze the value of cGAS-STING pathway inhibitors in the treatment of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury and conclude that the pathway can regulate cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury through multiple mechanisms.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the most important comorbidities for diabetic patients, which is the main factor leading to end-stage renal disease. Heparin analogs can delay the progression of DN, but the mechanism is not fully understood. In this study, we found that low molecular weight heparin therapy significantly upregulated some downstream proteins of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) signaling pathway by label-free quantification of the mouse kidney proteome.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to investigate the clinical efficacy of superselective ophthalmic artery thrombolysis for central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO).

Methods: Retrospective study of CRAO patients who attended the Department of Ophthalmology of Affiliated Hospital of Weifang Medical University from January 2022 to July 2023, 138 CRAO patients with onset time of 1-3 days were selected for the study. Among them, 86 patients refused thrombolytic treatment and chose to adopt traditional treatment, which was categorized as the control group; 52 patients adopted superselective ophthalmic artery thrombolytic treatment, which was categorized as the observation group.

Background: Increasing evidence suggests a correlation between intestinal microbiota and the gut-brain axis; however, the causal relationship between gut microbiota and postpartum depression (PPD) remains unclear.

Methods: In this study, a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) design was employed to analyze the GWAS data of gut microorganisms from the Mibiogen database and PPD data from the UK biobank. Various statistical methods, including inverse variance weighted, MR-Egger, weighted median, weighted model, and MR-PRESSO, were utilized to investigate the causal relationship between gut microbiota and PPD.

Background: Previous trials confirmed the benefit of endovascular treatment (EVT) in acute large core stroke, but the effect of EVT on outcomes in these patients based on noncontrast computed tomography (NCCT) in real-world clinical practice was unclear. The aim of this study was to explore the effect of EVT versus standard medical treatment (SMT) in patients with large ischemic core stroke defined as Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) ≤5 based on NCCT alone.
